Is it a bad look to wear an AirPod while designing if the APs & Sr. Engineers don’t?

Was wondering this because I usually put in only 1 AirPod while designing, but none of the other senior engineers or associate principals in our team do that. I am relatively new so don’t want to make a bad impression. No one asked me to take it off, but I’m not sure if there’s an unwritten rule

Will leaving a Tesla internship due to a family emergency (stroke/cancer) blacklist an intern?

I had to end an internship at Tesla after 8 weeks in a mechanical engineering role due to a parent with a serious medical condition diagnosis. I informed my supervisor and she understood, and she mentioned HR had listed it as a termination but she told them to correct that since it’s unfair. This was last summer btw!

Since then things have stabilized and I applied to Tesla FT jobs but don’t get any responses. Do you reckon me leaving earlier is a reason for this? This was my 2nd internship with a different team, and I did very well for both terms

Luke warm take, popularity aside Zayn is more talented than Michael Jackson

In terms of his high notes and vocal range. Obviously he’s not as well known as MJ was

I visited a casino for the 1st time & lost 1.5k, I self excluded for life - I realize it’s USA-wide

I went to the casino for the first time and came in with 300$ and ended up going to the ATM several times. I lost 1.5k and I was going to withdraw more but my bank locked my card due to suspicious activity, and calling them and being on hold was frustrating for me so I left late late night and looking back it was a blessing. After some reflection in the parking lot I went back in and asked to be self-excluded for life and they brought me to a problem gaming / awareness room and I signed several waivers for NYS Gaming Commission. I self-excluded because I was losing control and discipline, I was not answering my gf’s calls because I was ashamed of the slot noises in the background, and even watching all the “how casinos trick you” vids, I still fell into it

Once it was filed, I left and I did some research and realized I am self-excluded for all MGM & Caesars properties too, alongside all New York casinos. I don’t regret it but I’m worried I burnt myself for future Vegas trips. I was wondering if I went a bit overboard, especially since this was my first trip?

Sorry if it’s a dumb Q, but would great employees be given a ticket to space?

I always wondered this and with New Sheppard on pause, but hopefully to resume in the future, would a very high performing Blue Origin employee be able to ask to be flown on this? Since the tickets are very pricy and for celebs, could an engineer that did a great job designing a system get a ticket ?

Did I screw myself up of a PE & career progression by embarrassing my supervisor at an EOR meeting?

I’m a junior engineer and had great experiences with other senior engineers, and all had said I’m doing very well. However, my own supervisor who I worked on a project with for the first time has been awful. I realize how much of a micromanager she is & I have been so fed up of her talking down to me and throwing so many tasks within very very short timespans. I know for a PE, it requires supervisor to verify experience and during the EOR meeting, my supervisor was showing my designs & literally pointed out tags misaligned and other stuff and embarrassed me infront of the EOR & others on the call. Not in a polite way, and this is the 1000th time, so I got fed up and said “you wanted this done fast & I didn’t have time to align shit, all you do is micromanage me I’m so fed up of this”. And looking back, I realize how much that moment of frustration might cost me a job or PE. This is in a large firm (ie: WSP, TT, etc) so I’m worried HR might let me go

I messed up meeting Tyla, I got shy & didn’t even look at her or say anything

I was at the meet and greet for Tyla in NYC. I bought the ticket for 114$ (triple original price because form stubhub). I was in a rush anyways and it took 1.5 hrs in line to see her and I recorded her and wanted to do a vid of me recording and walking to her telling her she’s my celebrity crush. The worker said she had to be the one to record it, I said I’ll walk by and the worker didn’t understand what I was saying and I was holding up the line. I then just walked by Tyla and didn’t even look or say anything. Ik she hears praises of being her fan or loving her music or her beauty, so wanted to say something short and sweet that I’m so glad I met my celeb crush. But I didn’t even say anything and the vid was awkward and I’m really upset.

I also had a ticket to the morning Citi Entertainment free show but slept through that :(

Why are Schulich, Osgoode & Lassonde very “clique-y” amongst themselves?

Obviously those 3 excellent schools are part of York University & aren’t their own schools, but I noticed that students from each of them always hangout with each other and you’d never see a PoliSci major hanging out with a MechE major for example

For a Sr. Engineer, what do you do if a new hire into the field is underperforming a lot?

I noticed in my team that one of the Sr. Engineers is supervising 2 new graduate engineers, however one of them is really lacking with the concepts and it’s been a year. They also are inefficient with Revit & always have clashes, disconnected pipes, etc. however the person themself is very smart in that they worked extensively in the top automotive manufacturers before joining. What do you do in this case if they’re like this for a year? It’s not a lack of effort or “laziness”, is it true that someone can be smart at designing vehicle interiors but struggle with MEP designs?

Is it difficult to switch from Plumbing Engineering to the Space Industry? (None facilities/construction)

Particularly with someone that has 4 YOE, and no experience outside of P/FP. Does a PE license matter in the space industry?

I got an engineering offer for lunar lander and see they had 3.4B contract but as soon as this contract ends or if it gets canceled does the program get scrapped like NS? I know I won’t be in a company focus role like New Glenn, so just wanna see if I’m entering a voluntary experimental role that might be first to be cut in layoffs
