Harry Styles & Olivia Rodrigo might fight for the last spot in AOTY nominations

This is just Video Music Awards and does not reflect the Grammys but I am having this feeling from a long time that too many Pop albums are up for nominations this year so definitely one of the bigger names will be snubbed. If Taylor, Bruno and Madonna are nominated, two more for indie albums, Olivia Dean and say Ella Langley too, that alone is 7/8 nominations leaving room for only 1 more Pop Album. Between Harry Styles and Olivia Rodrigo, one of them is not getting the AOTY nomination.

Which major albums won't win AOTY

I think Grammys have been giving out AOTY based on some narratives for quite a while now such that despite of general consensus, deep down we all knew which albums were getting the AOTY in their respective years.

2024- Midnights (some people were like SOS deserves it but deep down we all knew it was going to Midnights cause of the impact this album had on the music industry and Taylor's career in general)

2025- Cowboy Carter (many people thought it should have gone to HMHAS and BRAT but again we all kinda knew it was going to Beyonce and she was overdue and the Grammys needed to beat their racism allegations)

2026- (this year was the weakest and there was not a single standout album against DTMF except Mayhem but even then we all knew that Bad Bunny was taking it as an example against the injustices of ICE)

2027, this year we really do not have any narrative to follow and no artist had a very impactful album. People are supporting their reasons, some are saying critics opinion matters more some are saying general people's opinion matter more but deep down we all know there is not a single album that stands out amongst the rest. So, that brings me to make the list of albums that definitely won't win AOTY this year and they are-

1. The Romantic by Bruno Mars: Bruno had beaten his critical reception in the past to win AOTY for his album, 24K Magic so it's not unthinkable to think he is a front runner this time too. However, I think by his own fault, he has produced two massive hits recently, Die with a smile; APT, that his recent singles don't look like hits anymore, even though they have done really well on the US Radios. This comparison won't go unnoticed and hence he will lose AOTY.

2. Girl so in love by Olivia Rodrigo: Her fans are patrolling Reddit and Twitter to heavily downvote, report and push the posts to lower reach in algorithms if the post is not in favour of her. But it is the truth that Olivia Rodrigo is a POP Star with means to reach more audience than someone like Raye, Olivia Dean etc. So, her new album not producing any hits will definitely impact the reception of her album by the voters of the Grammys.

3. The life of a Showgirl by Taylor Swift: I think she could have turned around the opinions of the voters about her album by promoting it well but whether she was busy with her marriage and attending events like premiere of Toy Story 5; Songwriters Hall of Fame, that it looks like she did not care enough for this album and voters will follow the critical opinions if Taylor herself is not bothered enough to say otherwise.

Other than them, any album could win. It's just a matter of who.

Edit: LUX by Rosalia won’t win either cause that album had no impact and is only good critics score. So basically an album made for critics and not people. No replay value.

TOP 3 AOTY contenders based on (Critical Reception V/S Biggest Hits)

As the title says.

My personal (unbiased) opinions in support of all the six albums.

LUX: This is by far the most talked about album since last year. It seems like Rosalía has also started campaigning for this album. When you search her name or the album on Google, an animation of falling sheets of musical notes greet you.

Lost Weekend: Honestly, this album is my favourite but I will try to be unbiased here. Not only the album has been received so well but Phoebe has won 4 Grammys in 2024 which makes her chances of winning AOTY this year, I will say, even more than Rosalía cause the voters really see her as a serious artist.

Midnight Sun: This is the most controversial one but this album has the best narrative to present. It revived Zara's career and had produced one viral hit. Also her feature in Stateside will make voters lean towards her cause Zara Larsson really has the best story to tell amongst all.

The Life of a Showgirl: Perhaps the biggest album of this year. The Fate of Ophelia is the most streamed female song in 2026 so far on Spotify (810 million steams). The album has topped the IFPI Global album of 2025. Also, Taylor getting inducted in two Songwriters Hall of Fame, especially the one in October in Nashville might sway many country voters in her favour.

Dandelion: Ella Langley is definitely winning something and she has high chances of sweeping in the country categories. Choosin' Texas is the biggest hit in the USA this year. Familiarity really brings advantage in voting.

Art of Loving: The only album this year to balance both critical reception and GP Hits. But it's chart performance in USA is not as good compared to the other albums and hence is not a clear cut winner but definitely a very worthy one.

Will Taylor Swift getting inducted in the two songwriters Hall this year increase her chances of winning big in 2027?

For those who are new, many people as well as many swifties like Swiftologist said that Midnights should not win AOTY but it did win and people all over the world celebrated. Many agree that Midnights had the backing of The Eras tour and Taylor’s Versions behind her and that brings me to the question if her becoming the Youngest female songwriter of all time to be inducted in these two Songwriters Hall of Fame will again back her submission this time?

Edit: keep replying like you all did during Midnights so that I can use you all for future reference. Thanks 🙏

Please help with the title of this MM Romance

I’ve tried everything from my Amazon history to ChatGPT and Grok and yet I can’t find this book I read 10 years ago. I mean I read only the first few chapters as then I had to buy the ebook and I thought lame but now I absolutely want to read it.

The story- there is one dog pet sitter who recently lost his husband. But his husband was not a nice person so he was not as emotionally sad. Then comes a very perfect and serious type rich lawyer who recently gets his sister’s son to stay with him and their dog. So he approaches the pet guy to take care of his dog and shows disgust when the dog leaves hair and bites his expensive shoes. 👞

Interesting stat: Only 09 artists in history have over 100 million followers on Spotify

For context: Arijit Singh is an Indian legend and India is one of the most populated country.
Taylor Swift is no. 1 amongst western artists.

The Fate of Ophelia has become the fastest solo song (international) in history of Brazil to be certified Triple diamond status.

What helped is the independent Portuguese versions of the song that once occupied 8/10 songs on the Instagram most used audio. It has become one of the biggest international hits in Brazil.

We have another Top contender for the AOTY

HITSDD reported that Tame Impala's 5th studio album 'DEADBEAT' is also a front runner in the next Grammys due to its two smashing singles. While the lead single 'End of summer' has already won one Grammys for Best Dance Recording last time. However, his album has scored 64 on Metacritics.

With the lack of hits this season, the Grammys will be a battle between critically acclaimed albums VS the super hit singles driven albums.

What is the concept (Aesthetic) of 'You seem very sad for a girl so in Love'?

Every Album of the Year (AOTY) winner in history has had a strong conceptual aesthetic. So what exactly is the conceptual aesthetic of Olivia's new album that so many people say deserves this award? Baby-doll dress from the lead - Drop Dead?

Also, does the Grammys care about the bad practices followed by the Artist/ their team, regarding the album in question??

Everybody always talks about how they miss Old Taylor, but has anybody ever wondered if she misses the old Swifties?

There is a reason why Taylor no longer interacts with fans on social media after 2023. The most we get now is LIKES from her.

Is Olivia Rodrigo really that good?

I think Olivia Rodrigo is the perfect example that there is a huge gap between critics and what general audience like. Cause all of the three artists have recent global hits, Manchild, The fate of Ophelia and Hate that I made you love me, while Olivia's artistic talent is improving with each album but she is failing to produce a GP loving album. It's almost like Sabrina, Taylor and Ariana are unable to make critically better albums than Olivia Rodrigo while Olivia is also failing to make a hit album since 2021.

What do you music lovers think?

A holistic view of the likely nominees for AOTY

I have not included iHeart radio, VMA, AMA awards.

Which albums have the most chances of winning?

1st: Olivia Dean - The Art of Loving (All Rounder)

2nd: Taylor Swift - The Life of a Showgirl (mixed reception, strong singles)

3rd: Olivia Rodrigo - You seem very sad for a girl so in love (Strong critical reception, average singles)

4th: BTS - ARIRANG (Strong critical reception, average singles)

_____________________________________________

Who should win?

Rosalia- LUX (The most critically acclaimed album in this list. Not a mainstream album and she is an International artist so high chances of getting overlooked and overshadowed by the more visible albums)

Performance of the SOTY/ROTY eligible songs across Spotify, Youtube & Apple Music

These are the 8 artists who will likely compete for the SOTY/ ROTY. When placed next to each other across multiple platforms, it becomes clear that some songs are performing poorly on Youtube Music like (Drop Dead, The Cure) while some on Apple Music (Swim, I Just might, Risk it All).

Judging the current trend for these categories, the songs I think that have the most likely chance of winning are

1st - The Fate of Ophelia (10 weeks #1 on Hot 100)

2nd - Choosin' Texas (15 weeks #1 on Hot 100)

3rd - Man I Need (Peak #2 on Hot 100)

_________________________________________________________________________________________

ROTY

2026- Luther by Kendrick Lamar

2025- Not Like Us by Kendrick Lamar

2024- Flowers by Miley Cyrus

SOTY

2026- Wildflower by Billie Eillish

2025- Not Like Us by Kendrick Lamar

2024- What Was I Made for? by Billie Eillish

Has Olivia Rodrigo's new album 'You Seem So Sad For A Girl So In Love' failed to produce a hit?

The last week's HOT 100 made history with women occupying the entire Top 5, after Janice STFU by Drake dropped to #7 (-3)

  1. Choosin' Texas by Ella (#1)

  2. I Knew It, I knew you by Taylor Swift (#2)

  3. Be Her by Ella Langley (#3)

  4. I Can't Love you anymore by Ella Langley (#4)

  5. Dracula by Tame Impala & JENNIE (#5)

  6. Hate that I made you Love me by Ariana (#6)

  7. So Easy (to fall in love) by Olivia Dean (#9)

  8. Boston by Stella Lefty (#12)

However, the three singles from Olivia Rodrigo's new album could not chart amongst the collection of female singles.

Is there any truth to this or just parasocial about her (in hatred)?

I can't be the only one that finds this weird. How come everybody, her peers, newer artists to older legends, all of their Stans collectively hate Taylor Swift so much?
