Lake Mary/Altamonte Springs Rentals

You’re wrong!

So I recently accepted a position in Lake Mary, and have to move from the upper northeast back down to Florida. I lived in Orlando for a decade before I ended up moving back up north for a job. Funny enough back down I go.😂
I primarily lived in the Wintergarden, Windemere, Kissimmee area, so Altamonte Springs/Lake Mary is a new venture for me.

My question for you all: would you have any apartment recommendations in that area. My office is located in Lake Mary🐶 so I would like to be within about 20 minutes driving distance if not closer. But as we all know, Orlando apartments are hit or miss… Mostly miss when it comes to maintenance, bug, infestations, and working front office haha. A lot of the reviews I’ve read on a lot of these complexes are a little troubling so if any locals have recommendations that aren’t two grand a month for a one bedroom, I was going to put my maximum at 1500 but I’m willing to go to about 1700 for a one bedroom.

I’m hoping for some good news so if anyone has any suggestions, please send them my way.

I used to do the Facebook marketplace route where I would look into finding someone looking for a roommate or someone renting their condo for a good price. That market looks a little flooded right now so that apartment it must be for now.

Can a state job fire you if you give two weeks notice?

I’ve recently been extended a job offer that I’d like to accept, but I would like to work out my full-time left at my state job. I was hoping to give a two weeks notice, but I would like to work those full two weeks. Does anyone know if a PERS position can be fired once given a two week notice? I want to do the right thing and give them plenty of notice, but at the same time I don’t want to risk losing the job sooner than I prefer.

Need to move somewhere within an hour from Fort Myers, Florida - Preferably town with my age group (30s)

Hey everybody!

I may be getting a job that is located in Fort Myers. Previously, you were allowed to live within three hours of the location given that this job only required you to go into work once a month otherwise it was fully remote. They are now switching to you have to come in once a week and you have to be with an hour of the office which is in Fort Myers. Does anyone know any areas that are within an hour maybe pushing it like an hour and 15 minutes from Fort Myers that would be a good place to live for a 30-year-old? I’m stressing because I heard the West Coast of Florida is mainly for retirees, which doesn’t bode well for the dating scene or social life haha.

Any suggestions are welcome! I’m talking you can give me a list of 10 to 15 places.

I’m going to have to move out of Orlando and closer so suggest a way!

Good morning! I went for a consultation at an airway orthodontist yesterday as I have been in braces twice, but my bite as well as a couple other things I’ve never actually been fixed. She gave me the answers that I had was looking for, which was a huge relief, and I just wanted to see if what I was being quoted for cost was fair or maybe a little high. This does seem to be a very, very nice office. Very like luxury/almost boutique-ish. The doctor has wonderful reviews and results. I was very happy with everything we talked about.

So she said, I have a severe tongue tie that she doesn’t know how that was never caught in my 31 years of going to different dentists and orthodontists. She also said my arch or palette (I can’t remember) is measuring at 28 mm when the average is supposed to be 36mm. And because of that it’s caused, not only there to not be enough room for my tongue, but a deep bite and my centrals to have to shifted downward.

So needless to say, we have some work to do lol! When I’m happy that there’s finally a solution to what I’ve had a feeling for years has been incorrect even after two rounds of braces.

So in summary, she said the treatment is going to cost $11,000, conveniently my dental insurance that is supposed to cover a portion of adult orthodontics is not a network so they’re going to take $1000 off the top bringing it down to $10,000 in cost. She said that metal braces and Invisalign will do essentially the same thing although Invisalign has a $1500 up charge which they would waive for me as well.

So in total, this is going to cost $10,000 because we need to do an expander which she said we’ll take about 4 to 6 months, and then after that Invisalign. In between the expander and Invisalign, I will separately go and use my medical insurance to get the tongue tie snipped, so that will not be done in house.

So I’m paying for an expander and Invisalign as I may be moving out of state so she said Invisalign would be a better move instead of metal braces.

Sorry for going on so long I just wanted to give as much context as possible. I was going to attach photos of my scan showing the measurements and what my mouth looks like but it’s not allowing me

So the best way I can describe it is I’m measuring at 28 mm across when it should be 36, my top teeth, go completely over my bottom teeth. And because of my tongue tie, my bottom jaw was never able to move fully forward so I have a bit of an assessed bottom jaw.

OK guys that’s everything lol! So after all of that said, when I was in metal braces in high school that cost $5000. Granted that was in 2013. In 2020 I was an Invisalign and then Covid happened so the treatment never went past 15 trays, but it wasn’t going to correct the problem anyway. But that cost me $4000. So this is why my hesitation with the $10,000 is coming in.

But I would love to hear from anyone who has experience! Thank you so much and have a great day

Morning everyone! I’m excited to be going to Disney in another week. I was planning on going to Magic Kingdom in the middle of the week and would like to have breakfast at the contemporary in the morning. As I was planning out my day, I also realized I’m having dinner at the contemporary after the day ends at Magic Kingdom.

What I was wondering/curious if it’s even allowed… Could I park for breakfast in the morning at the contemporary, spend the day at Magic Kingdom, and then go to dinner at California Grill that night, and just leave from my parking spot in the contemporary?

I don’t know how Parking works over there anymore, I don’t know how strict Security is. I don’t even know if they still hand out the pieces of paper for Parking or they check your tags now to make sure you’re not there over a certain amount of time for a dining reservation.

In my head, it would just make more logistical sense to have breakfast over there. Do Magic Kingdom and then if I’m ending at contemporary, keeping my car over there and leaving from there.

Instead of the alternative, which is having breakfast over there, driving back to the TTC after breakfast, going into the park, then going back to the contemporary, then going back to the TTC haha.

So I’m sure that’s a lot to follow, but if there’s any locals or avid Disney goers that know what the best move would be for this, I’d be happy to hear!

Thank you so much and have a great day!
