Hold that planet for the Emperor and the Throne of Terra!

Hold that planet for the Emperor and the Throne of Terra!

Hello there! I'm still working on my homebrew Astartes chapter the "Tarascas" and decided to do my 2nd Company, the "Crust Chewers", who are infamous for their common use of omophagea.

They are fighting alongside the 12th Eklessian regiment, one of my astra regiment who recently decided to reform their army to the cadian standard, only keeping some cultural traits to differentiate themselves.

12nd Eklessian - My homebrew regiment who decided to reform their army by following the Cadian standard.

Eklessian regiments are one of my astra militarum homebrew army. They were kinda late to integrate in the Imperium during the Great Crusade. That Feudalistic-Thalassocracy (well thalasso but in space) who reigned before the Imperium arrival was used to fight between elite nobility via battles between noble troops, space battle barge or even gentlemen duels.

As they joined the imperium willingly, their culture was not that much impacted and their army never felt the need to reform: Nobles were used to deal with the locals nuisances via their own private armies or via occasional Rogue Traders passing by. If a bigger threat appeared, the Eklessian nobility could rise a united army with an elite guard, reserved to the nobles, "The Lions of Eklessia", followed by auxiliary troops, recruited in the lower classes on the different planets of their systems.

That's what they tried when a Drukhari army decided to aim for their lands, Eklessians were slaughtered at their first battles and only got saved by astartes intervention.

After all that disaster campaign, the Eklessian nobility had been shaken to it's root and were imposed to reform their army by following the cadian standard. While the nobility stayed, lot of commoners gained the right to access a better quality of life with those reforms. By sending members of their family in the army, they could now access a life they could never hoped before.

A new bourgeoisie class even rise through that unstable time and created a new caste really compatible with the cadian kasrkin ways. Considering themselves as a new kind of nobility, they took the name of their old elite guard and Eklessian kasrkin are now commonly named "Lions of Eklessia"

Lastly, as Eklessian have a big spaceship culture, they depends of astropath psykers, that they call "Cyclop". It seems that the use of that this name came from a misunderstanding of what are psykers in general, people able to open holes to channel warp energy. As in eklessian language "hole" and "eye" are the same word and that there were some gigantic cyclop living on their homeworld, for a lot of eklessians, psykers are one eye creatures who can use different kind of power through their eye.

The 12nd regiment "Cyclopeans" tho' is not named after the psykers, even if they use some. That regiment is often sent when the Eklessian nobility need to hold some critical points. 12nd are known to build huge defenses that may suggest the huge fortress that were able to build cyclops in their homeworld, far before the Great Crusade and the Imperium.

So. Last week I published some templates for 40k factions so every factions can create their own homebrewed color schemes and base of the lore. (You guys have been really nice, thank you very much!) and... welp I liked doing all that stuff and wanted to do more. So I created a drive where I put all the templates of the factions (In HD) here: All the templates

But wait, there is more! I started to add some ressources I used to do the templates so you can all easily use them if you want to craft your own template page. It's still barebone but I'll try to update some more when I can. I also added a little picture for the size of all the fonts on the template and the name of the font (Elegant Typewriter - by Lukas Krakora) so you can easily change some of the stuff as you want.

There's actually 42 templates, I don't think I'll add a lot more as I mainly covered all the lineable factions and subfactions of the 10th edition (plus lot of obscure astra militarum regiment because... well I wanted to draw them). Maybe I'll try to make some Necromunda later but work is coming back and time is running low again!

Anyway, I sincerly hope it help anyone who like me love creating homebrew lore, even for ourselves, and welp... now at least I have my own drive to easily do mines.

NB: You can use the png I posted or the one in the "Transparent" folder which only have the line on it. Classic png with blank can easily be painted under if you change the layer in "Multiply" mode, which will let all the colors behind white being visible anyway.

Hello there!

Since several months I wanted to draw my homebrewed factions and those of my little brothers for fun and discovered that except for Astartes and maybe sororitas and imperial guard, there were nothing. So I decided to create the one I needed for myself and... welp I kinda lost control and did a lot more than I needed.

Thought I could share it with people who need it. I don't think It'll be great on paint so try to use software that can have layers with the "multiply" option (Krita is free and great for that), so you just have to put the template as a multiply layer on top of all the layers of your file.

For those who'll want to change text on it, the font I used is "Elegant Typewriter", as long as you don't use it commercialy it's normally good.

Hope it helps some people to do their own homebrewed chapters!

EDIT: HD Files are here ! I already add Firstborn Marines and will try to add more
