Drapes
When the sun
Intrudes your slumber,
Searing your skin,
(The pig chosen for the World’s breakfast)
I will be the drapes hanging on your window:
Out of reach, suspended in the air,
The floor will cover our feet with dust.
But it won't ground us.
When the morning pushes
Your dark thin eyelids up,
I am the blanket ready for you to pull.
Under the sheets, the beginning is yours.
I will catch the crash
Of the sun’s wavefront:
With its surge soothed,
It will be beams for you to gaze at as you please.
When you choose to leave
Through the door,
Or in never-ending sleep.
(Free from the confines of the day)
I will be the drapes hanging on your window:
Out of reach, suspended in the air.
A vigil of your memory,
The embodiment of your abode.
A silhouette to passersby.
Yet to all, your vignette will flow
In the golden hour of the sun:
The triumph of life,
Or the promised peace.
Dani's Harper's Bazaar cover got taken down? Does anyone know what happened?
I'm curious, but not curious enough to pay for her Substack 😅 Has anyone read it? This sub was excited for her for getting Harper's Bazaar... I wonder what happened.
Here's the transcript of a (seemingly) old vid she included in one of her posts (the one starting with EDIT):
"Good morning, guys. It is the morning of my Bazaar shoot. That's super exciting, huh? 14 years, and I'm just booking my first major magazine. That's a first for everything, though. I'm going to take you guys on a very honest, real journey into my truth, you know? If you guys want to listen, you're more than welcome to enjoy the ride. If not, I would stop playing right now. Just end it."
The Oliver Twixt interviews, docs, Instagram tea from the contestants are fun, but my favs are those who slayed then
Some who come to mind are Nicole c5, Jade, Heather, Anya, Katarzyna, Marjorie, Brittani c16. Nicole and Brittani have social media but considering they're some of the most successful winners, they're pretty lowkey! Who else is there?
They did great in the competition, some did good modeling work then poof, we never heard from them again. They've grown past ANTM and are above grasping for 15 minutes of fame (there's exceptions like Allison and Joanie though who seem to do it purely for fun. Memes too in Allison's case lol).
Getting an update would be fun (esp from my faves Anya and Kat huhu) but at the same time I'm like yes queens, go give us nothing! Live those peaceful lives of yours. Much better than selling hot ice cream or writing The Wig, The Bitch, and The Meltdown.
After seeing Mikhail as Kungfu Panda, can anyone else imagine Kaori as Tina too?
LF more vids from an audience pov that captures entire rink (ice coverage)
People in this sub have said watching fs live is entirely different: some athletes' skills are best appreciated in person. I'll probably never get to see a show/competition live huhu (I'm from a tropical country where there's barely any interest in fs), so I was happy to find this vid.
Aside from showing the whole rink, I like that there's no zoom. Would like to see how enjoyable choreo and presentation are when there's no videography to rely on (happy to find I still enjoyed Alysa's here).
Do you know of any other similar ones of other skaters? I'd especially love to see one of Kaori; many have said here that her ice coverage and speed are impressive.
If you have sources/links, please share. Thank you!
What do my celeb/fictional crushes say about me?
Aside from me being obviously lesbian
In my novice opinion, Anna Shcherbakova and Alysa Liu represent FS well
Photo from TikTok
I'm a new casual fan. It was their Olympic performances that got me interested in FS. They stood out to me because they managed to seamlessly blend athleticism on ice and storytelling. I enjoyed every moment because every gesture was purposeful and I didn't feel like I was waiting for the next jump. That's proof of immense skill and discipline, I think.
I thought they represented what makes this sport unique: balance between artistry and technique. So I was surprised many are discontent with their wins. Some fans even use Anna's score/ program to discredit Alysa's win, which I don't get because they have the same strengths to me: consistency, stability under pressure, and drive over competitiveness.
They handle interviews deftly, are confident yet grounded, and good sports. Loved seeing Alysa's excitement for Ami Nakai and learning that Anna hugged and congratulated Kaori despite nobody rushing to do the same for her (she deserved someone like Amber in her team).
Nothing against Sasha Trusova's reaction (I like her too and I'm excited to see her next programs!). Actually it's her recent interview that made me realize some longtime fans are unnecessarily negative.
