Anyone else feel this way? (Or how to avoid it)
I'm from suburban America where people (generally) live in big houses and have yards. I now live in Taiwan (and Japan before this) where living space is extremely limited. I honestly didn't mind when I first moved overseas, but over the years it has been bothering me. There are certain hobbies I have to avoid, despite my interest in them, primarily because I don't have space. I don't have space for nice furniture, or even to exercise how I want. And now that I have a child, a yard sounds real nice. She'd be able to play outside at a moment's notice. It would no longer be an ordeal to get to the park just to play for a short period of time, which means she'd be able to do so much more often.
Obviously there are pros and cons to each country, and many reasons for living in Asia over the US. At the same time, this one particular aspect is not something I've grown accustomed to over time. Conversely, it's something that bothers me more and more the older I get.
Does anyone else feel this way? Or have any advice for navigating these feelings?
