Should I mention that I’m 4 weeks pp + that I had a C-section to my dentist?

So I have an appt for a cleaning tomorrow and I’m filling out my paperwork online and it just occurred to me that since a C-section is considered like surgery, I might need to mention it in the notes for them to know? Is it important or no? I just don’t want to look silly for mentioning something possibly irrelevant.

OB said my milk won’t come in until a few days after delivery. Does that mean it’s normal to start off with formula?

I’m a FTM scheduled to be induced mid next week. My OB mentioned at one of my last few appointments that my milk likely won’t come in until a few days or so after delivery. I’ve also heard other FTM’s discuss how their milk took almost up to a week to come in after delivery. I guess I just didn’t realize that it didn’t happen immediately and now I’m wondering/worried if starting off with formula/bottle feeding will make it harder to breastfeed once my milk does come in? I was under the impression that once the baby gets used to a bottle, it can be hard to get them to latch or get used to nursing in general. Will it be so early on that it shouldn’t matter?

Can I use EBT in AL if I live in FL?

Hey all! I’m currently staying with family in AL temporarily until after my baby is born, but my home and address and benefits are all in FL. I’m not sure if it makes a difference or if there’s a mile radius maybe, but my town in FL is only about an hour or so away from where I’m staying in AL. I really don’t want to have to drive an hour away to get groceries, so I was wondering if I can use my Florida EBT in Alabama?

Almost 35 weeks and feeling oddly behind?

I do want to preface this by stating that I realize that social media IS the problem here and is absolutely one of the main reasons I feel the way I do. I’m 35 weeks along with my first pregnancy and just feel behind in my pregnancy. I know comparison is the thief of joy and whatnot but it’s kind of starting to worry and/or get to me me how “behind” other pregnant women I seem to be. I don’t really have as much of a bump as I see other women usually have at this stage, I still have my belly button (though it’s finally starting to disappear). I haven’t produced/collected any colostrum like I’m seeing all these moms on social media have done already and started a supply of colostrum for their babies. I’m not experiencing the crazy “nesting” feeling that everyone talks about occurring during third trimester either. I know that ultimately none of these are very big deals, but it honestly just makes me feel like the odd one out I guess? I’ve been really hormonal lately so that’s definitely playing a part here too — but I just feel like I’m missing out on the “essential parts” of third trimester that all these other women seem to have such a universal experience of. I also promise I’m not saying any of this to act “special” or “different”, this is genuinely just based off of mostly things I’ve seen other pregnant women talking about through social media. And I know it sounds stupid, but I just needed somewhere to throw this out there and maybe see if anyone feels the same way?

Is 300mbps home internet fast enough for gaming?

Hey all! I’m moving to a more rural area with few options for internet, but am currently looking into Cox 300Mbps. My fiancé has a Xbox and plays games like Apex, Marvel Rivals, and Overwatch quite frequently. This is our first time handling our home internet ourselves as before we’ve always lived with family and we’re not even sure what they used. It’s just the two of us and I don’t really game much, though occasionally I’ll play more chill games like Abiotic Factor with him or at the same time as he’s playing his games.

The description of the plan I’m looking at is as follows :
• Up to 300 Mbps download speeds
• Up to 10 Mbps upload speeds
• Includes Essential Wifi
• 1.25 TB (1280 GB) monthly data included
• Easy access to 4M hotspots
• All you need for browsing the web, social media, email and more for 5-7 connected devices

Should we get this plan and try it out, or just go ahead and do the 500Mbps plan? It’s looking like around $30 more which isn’t the biggest deal, but if the 300 would work just fine too I’d rather use that!

Medicaid for a newborn - how exactly do I need to do once he’s born?

Not sure if any of this matters, but I’ll add it in just in case! I’m currently pregnant and I live in Florida. This is my first pregnancy and my partner and I are not married. I’m 19 and am unemployed and will remain unemployed until my baby (due in September) is around 3 months old. I already applied and was accepted for Medicaid for my baby around 4 months ago. The card I received in the mail simply says “Baby A of [my full name]”. I’ve been told that this is the card I give to them in the hospital for my baby’s insurance. But is there anything I need to do after he’s actually born as far as confirming his coverage, reapplying, or actually putting his name on the card? And if there is, will the card still provide coverage for him at his first pediatrician appointment or will I be stuck paying out of pocket until I’m able to validate his coverage? I’m not familiar with health insurance whatsoever, so I’m really not quite sure how all of this will work. Thank you in advance for any insight!

Edit: Apologies for any confusion — the title was meant to say “what exactly do I need to do once he’s born”.

Stopping almost all medications may have semi-fixed my constipation?

I’m pregnant in the third trimester and naturally have been stuck taking all sorts of medication daily to survive these crazy symptoms. Just to list them: Zofran, Zoloft, iron supplements, baby aspirin, prenatal, magnesium oxide, and a variety of generic sleep aid medications. I eventually stopped taking all of these one by one — with the exception of my prenatal and iron supplements, and magically my system almost seems like it’s reset itself. I have a BM like every other day, whereas before I barely had one a week. I’m not taking anything for constipation (as I stopped taking the magnesium) and I haven’t changed anything dietary wise. I just wonder if my severe constipation issues have actually been side effects of medications this whole time and not truly the dreaded pregnancy constipation? Is that even possible? Regardless, I just found it interesting that’s all!

For anyone that’s had iron infusions during your pregnancy - how was your experience?

I’m 31 weeks and due to my ferritin levels being at a whopping 8, my OB is having me get iron infusions. I’ll be getting 5 doses over the course of 10 days (I’ll be going every other day). I did get a chance to speak to someone at the infusion center when they called me yesterday to go over scheduling and I was able to ask some questions and definitely feel less nervous than I was, buttt I’m still definitely pretty nervous. My first appointment won’t be until the very end of this month, since apparently they’re completely booked out with patients this month. I’ve read online that some people have some pretty crazy side effects from the infusions. Has anyone here experienced that? I’m just anxious since this is the first time I’ve had to get any type of infusion and I’m also terrified of needles so that doesn’t help. I’d like to at least try to prepare myself a bit for what could happen!

Starting Zoloft and feeling anxious about it (Possible TW: mention of depression, psych meds)

I’m 29+5 and have been struggling really badly with depression since I got pregnant, though I’ve been diagnosed since I was a teenager and struggled before I was pregnant. It’s become so so much worse to the point that my pregnancy has been spent in bed and I’ve barely left the house. I’ve tried brushing it off as just hormones or pregnancy mood swings because I’m honestly terrified of going back on medication. When I was a teenager I was in multiple mental health treatment facilities and put on all sorts of medicines (many of which I had terrible reactions to) and I would skip my medication regularly after taking it consistently for a few months which obviously didn’t help with the bad symptoms/reactions. I went through extensive therapy for years as a teen up until I was 18 and after I turned 18 decided that I didn’t want to feel dependent on medication any longer (which at the time I was doing really well and was also told as much by my psychiatrist, so it wasn’t an impulsive decision to stop taking them I did wean off of them safely this time). I finally decided to talk with my OB about antidepressants at my last appointment to which she told me I could safely take Zoloft during pregnancy as well as breastfeeding. She did also tell me that there is like a 1% chance of some sort of heart disease that the baby could end up with after birth due to taking antidepressants while pregnant. I asked her if in her experience and from what she’s seen, if she believed it was worth the risk of that or if she’s seen it happen herself. She told me she couldn’t answer that and that it was up to my own discretion (which I understand but it just sucks having to make these kinds of decisions). She gave me a prescription for 50mg and I finally picked it up from my pharmacy a few hours ago after putting it off for a week. I’m planning on taking my first dose in the morning since I know you should usually take it around the same time every day. I’m honestly just scared about starting a psychiatric medication again and I’m worried that I’ll have a bad reaction to it and end up being involuntarily hospitalized. And then after that, I’m worried they’ll deem me as an unsafe parent based on that and they could take my baby. I know I’m probably just fear mongering myself but I’m just really worried about my safety and my baby’s safety and I’d feel insanely guilty if me starting this medication could compromise that. (Also, just noting that I’m not at all at all saying I’m going to harm myself nor do I have any intention of doing so. I’m saying I’m afraid that I’ll experience ADR and have to be involuntarily hospitalized due to the adverse symptoms and risks of them.) I think I may have a conversation with my partner to tell him about my concerns and let him know what to look out for and what to do just in case I do start experiencing bad symptoms? I don’t want him to think I’m being overdramatic, I’m just super anxious about all of this. Just needed somewhere to put all of my thoughts, but if anyone else has had any personal experience with Zoloft (good or bad) I’d appreciate you sharing it!

My baby loves kicking my partner’s face

So I’m 29 weeks and have an anterior placenta, which has made it a little bit of a wait to feel movement from my little guy consistently. I didn’t feel movement until around 22-23 weeks and it wasn’t consistent until 26. Whenever I tried to get my partner to feel the baby, the little stinker stopped in his tracks as soon as my partner put his hands on my belly! Finally one night my partner was laying his head on my belly while we talked and the baby started kicking his face like crazy! I personally think that it’s because the baby could hear his voice and knew it was his dad (call me crazy but that’s just what I think it could be 😂). But it’s also funny to indulge in the idea that our son just wanted to kick him in the face too lol. I’m feeling very consistent, strong movement from my baby now and he’ll still only occasionally move/kick when my partner’s hands are on my belly, and refuses to move for anyone else whatsoever. My partner loves putting his face against my belly and talking with the baby and getting kicked in the face in response now. Just thought I’d share because it’s the cutest thing to me and I’m also wondering if anyone else has experienced this too!

Anyone else having intense cravings for the smell of your freezer?

I’m in very early third trimester (like just started a day ago) and just need to feel like I’m not a complete weirdo lol. I’ve been having the most intense craving for the smell of my deep freezer. It just smells cold and like…a freezer? But there’s just a specific smell to it. Also, frozen cardboard has that same kind of smell and it’s literally just amazing I literally want it 24/7. I literally stuck my head in the deep freezer for like five minutes straight today I was craving it so bad. It’s also worth mentioning that my iron levels are completely normal, it’s just a weirdly specific craving apparently. I wish I could figure out like what the smell is actually called or why I’m having such a specific craving for it without having any deficiencies in anything! If anyone knows please enlighten me, because I would love to know the why behind this weirdness 😂

Are these trades legit?

There are a ton of these super OP trades (not only for the ducky box) that I’ve seen on Elve today. I just started playing a few days ago and started doing trades through Elve last night! Is this a common tactic for some kind of scam? Or are the ducky boxes really wanted THIS bad??

I think I’m going to get hacked now? 🥲

Before I start this, yes I’m aware that I’m incredibly stupid to have blindly copy and pasted a link into my browser. I knew better, but wasn’t even thinking because I wouldn’t think someone would ever use this as a way to hack someone, but now I know!! So, I just posted a trade to Elve (I just learned how to do so last night as I only started playing the game a few days ago) and barely a minute later it gave me a notif that someone had accepted the trade. I went to their profile to friend them on Roblox and then looked up the user that was named in their bio. I definitely thought it was a little odd, but I’ve also heard of people having multiple accounts for Adopt Me so I brushed past it. When I saw the link I didn’t think much of it since it honestly looked fine at first glance. I copied and pasted it into my phone’s browser and was immediately met with one of those “Your phone has been hacked!” popups. I just immediately closed the page and didn’t touch anything on it. I realize my phone is most definitely not hacked, but now I’m worried about my Roblox account. Is there any way that it could have connected my account automatically and logged me into that website, or pulled my login info from that website? I turned on two-factor authentication as soon as I realized and logged out of all my devices besides the one I was on, so I’m hoping that prevents anything from happening? I honestly didn’t realize this was a thing until it happened to me! When I tried to report the Roblox and Elve profiles, it told me there was an error. I’m not sure that I’m allowed to share the screenshots with the usernames here, so I won’t. But I do have screenshots in case anything does happen I guess!

24 weeks pregnant, ER refused xray despite signs of serious backup

So I guess I’m kind of posting for a second opinion. I know this happens quite often to pregnant women but I still am super aggravated by it. I’ve dealt with constipation pretty much my entire life and had multiple ER visits a year due to it when I was growing up. I’m now 19 and 24 weeks pregnant and of course it’s gotten much worse. In my opinion, I have some possible signs of a bad blockage/backup. I have had no appetite whatsoever for the past day and a half and haven’t had a full bowel movement in 6 days. I have been taking magnesium oxide and prune juice daily and that seems to be doing absolutely nothing for me. I can’t do an enema due to very bad hemorrhoids, and want to avoid suppositories for the same reason. I honestly don’t know what to do without making anything worse and the ER doctors said that they wouldn’t do an xray unless I was throwing up directly after I ate and if I didn’t have any BM in the next two days. But can I not have a blockage and still have a very small BM from stuff going around the blockage?? Am I really supposed to wait until I have the most serious signs of a very bad blockage or possibly impaction until I can get someone to give me an xray? I literally was only able to eat a chicken tender and a few fries yesterday and threw that up around an hour later. I’ve been having uncomfortable abnormal stomach pains and discomfort for the last few days. In my opinion and experience this seems like signs of a blockage or obstruction or another underlying issue and I think it’s crazy that I can’t get an xray (yes I understand it exposes the baby and could potentially be dangerous but surgery to remove fecal impaction would also be very dangerous for the baby). I’m waiting to hear back from my OB to see if she’ll see me in the next 1-2 days for a follow up and basically for me to ask her how I’m supposed to get an xray. Has anyone dealt with this kind of situation? I feel like constipation is just put off as such a normal pregnancy symptom that doctors won’t take it seriously anymore because “It’ll only get worse from here” (literally what the ER staff told me last night).

How much prune juice should I be drinking to get the “natural laxative” effect everyone talks about?

I’ve been dealing with pregnancy constipation on and off the past few months and made the mistake of not taking my prescribed magnesium oxide pills for the last few days and now I’m constipated again 🤦‍♀️ I’m trying to avoid “real” laxatives like Dulcolax pills as I know those aren’t great to take regularly. I’ve heard good things about prune juice and plan to go pick up some of the sunsweet brand tomorrow. But how much should I drink? I don’t want to drink too much but I also don’t want to drink too much.

So I’m 20 weeks and 4 days and just had my first high-risk appointment today, which I was referred to only one appointment due to my BMI being high. My OB said it was just procedure/a precaution to make sure I wasn’t at risk of developing anything because I’m overweight. They did a very detailed ultrasound to look at his bones and heart and head and then they performed an internal ultrasound before I saw the doctor. While waiting for the doctor we were handed a pamphlet for financial assistance if our baby had any neurological issues after birth. I was a little puzzled until the doctor came in and informed us that baby has a little lump or thick spot on the back of his neck that’s just a little over the measurements they’d consider normal. He said normally it’s up to 6 inches (I’m really not sure of the units it’s probably smaller so apologies) and our baby’s was showing around 7.1 or something along those lines. He told us that it could point to either Down syndrome or heart issues. The baby’s heart is perfectly fine and there has been 0 signs of anything wrong so far so I’m more inclined to think Down syndrome. He recommended that I think about doing an amniocentesis to be sure about the Down syndrome but only if I thought that would affect our decisions surrounding the baby. He also acknowledged that he saw that my NIPT results did come back as low risk and there’s a very very small possibility that may have been incorrect. But the last thing he mentioned is that since it’s an invasive procedure there is a 1 in 1,000 chance of pregnancy loss. I obviously don’t have to decide right now, but I’m honestly just so upset and anxious and trying to keep it together today. I feel so guilty like maybe I didn’t make the right choice to keep the baby in the first place. I know it’s only a small chance as of right now but it’s a really hard decision to make to possibly risk losing my baby just to find out for sure if he has neurological issues. The chance of the test being wrong versus this procedure causing pregnancy loss is virtually the same and I just don’t know what to do. I feel like I’m under so much pressure and I don’t want to make the wrong choice. This is my first pregnancy and I’m 19 so if anyone has been through this or has any similar experience please feel free to share if you’re comfortable! Just needed somewhere to type all of this mess out.
