SoU/HotU: Druid vs Ranger

I’ve recently discovered Druid and it seems to be very interesting class. Lots of different ways to utilize, cool feats and nice skills to choose from. Also, there are some fun interactions, in early SoU, with the world he has access too. Then I remembered there are quests and interactions requiring more of a „search” type skills.

Here comes Ranger. He can do what Druid does and more, with environment which requires those „search” skills. He’s also a bit better fighter. I already planned to use my Druid as caster/shapeshifter, so he could be fine in combat.

Question is - in the long run, who is better? Ranger doing ok in melee, with animal companion, minor spellcasting and a list of favored enemies? Or Druid with much more and better spells, using shapeshifting for combat, having better animal companion(?) and maybe combining it with one level of Monk? Help me decide!

Multiclassing question (IWD2)

I love this game, it’s my first IE ever, but nowadays it’s hard for me to come up with fun parties. So I thought about trying multiclassing this time and smaller party, maybe 3 or 4 persons. What are some fun combos you come up with?

My current idea is classic Rogue(1)/Mage. What about Monk(1)/Druid? What benefits are there really? Better combat during shapeshifting?

Would Ranger(1)/Barbarian work? Free dual wielding, high DEX, weapon finesse, Rage covering STR&CON.

Anything else worth trying or is this trio more than enough?

Multiplayer save transfer

Howdy! I’ve bought a laptop for work, and obviously not just for playing old games on GOG. Anyway, my question is:

I’ve created this lovely group in OG BG1 multiplayer and I wonder - I will transfer this save and this party - what will then happen? Can I pick kits? Choose specialization for Mage if he was vanilla? What about thieving skills and weapon profiniences/fighting styles? Believe it or not, I probably have never done that, even tho I’ve played OGs. The experience is very refreshing, after EE shenanigans.

EDIT: IWD and sequel, plus NWN, are also freshly installed and waiting in line!

Early development and potential issues

As far as I’m aware, game had some sort of early access and players opinions were included, shaping the story and characters. Sorry, if I’m wrong on this, I wasn’t part of this early access at all.

I keep stumbling on opinions like „they rewrited this character” or „early access Wyll was much better” or „there was much more content earlier and it was cut”. I’m not sure how big those changes were.

So I wonder - does including players/supporters/testers in the whole process did the game good OR it actually forced Larian to abandon their ideas for the sake of community whims? Shouldn’t we get developer vision OR do you actually like the idea of paying for early access and have saying in terms of plot/characters?

Was it all worth it?
