Baby names?

Hello! My husband and I are having a baby in a few months, very excited! We don’t know if it’s a boy or a girl yet. Neither one of us were born in Eritrea, and our Tigrinya isn’t the greatest. We’ve obviously heard the most common names, so it would be nice to hear some rare ones.

Names we like so far (don’t know if they’re actually Eritrean, but we’ve heard Eritreans having them):

Boys:

• Joel
• Zecarias
• Amelon

Girls:

• Hewan
• Eden
• Henon

Thank you!

Cool, muted powder blushes?

Hi!

Since I prefer no makeup-makeup looks, and wear blush on a bare face (with only skincare), I’ve always used liquid or cream blushes, I figured they might be easier to use. A lot of blushes tend to look orange on me, and ”colorful” blushes look ”off” on me. So I usually lean toward cool, muted blushes.

It seems like there are more shade options with powder blushes, so I’d like to try it.

My favorite blushes are the Merit Flush Balms in Archival and Bespoke, and Nars The Multiple in Swing and Trance (maybe this gives an indication to what kind of shades I like?).

So, if anyone could recommend cool, muted powder blush shades, I would really appreciate it.

Thank you!

Church and autism

Hi!

I don’t really know where else to ask, but whatever. I live in Europe (born and raised), so are my cousins. One of my cousins, a kind, brilliant man in his 20s has autism. It doesn’t affect him intellectually, he’s very book smart (good in school, good with numbers etc). But because of the autism, he’s very sensitive to crowded, noisy, loud places. He gets sensory overload. Due to this, he’s never really regularly attended church (it always leads to autistic meltdowns), same with independence day parties, weddings, or any parties in general. To be clear, he is religious (orthodox), but he prefers to go to church when it’s empty and quiet, not when there’s stuff going on. So his parents (my aunt) never made him attend any of these things (especially as he got older and said he didn’t want to).

Everyone in the community knows he’s ”different”, even though some might not know he has autism. Sometimes people ask about him, and I just say he doesn’t like crowded places, gets overwhelmed easily etc. But recently it came up in a discussion with the ” youth” group, of why people might not be attending church etc. And I’ve heard people talk and say things like, ”oh, she’s not coming to church anymore” (about other people). It just made me wonder what people might be saying or thinking about him, that they don’t say in front of me.

Anyway, I’m just wondering if there are any thoughts about this topic?

Recommendations on subtle/minimal makeup products/brands?

Hello!

I’m in my mid 20s and very new to makeup. I’m trying to find what I like, and it seems that I like minimal/subtle/no makeup makeup looks. I only do skincare, mascara, blush, and a lip.

I’ve been trying to find blushes I like, and after having looked around, it seems that I prefer cream blushes that are easy to apply, without even using a brush, not too opaque (I find that a lot of blushes I’ve tried are really pigmented, which might make them harder to use), and that you can carry around in your bag. My favorite blushes I’ve found so far are the Merit Flush Balms (in the shades Stockholm, Archival, and Bespoke). I really love their Signature Lip Blush lipsticks as well, because it’s so lightweight, and gives a sheer color. I also love the Clinique Almost Lipsticks (in Black Honey and Pink Honey).

So, I’m wondering if you have recommendations on brands or products similar to this? That are subtle, lightweight and easy to use? I’m mostly looking for cheek and lip products, and maybe eye makeup too.

Thank you!

Pluggställen?

Hej!

Tack!

Shows that are career-focused?

One of my favorite television episodes of all time is ”Tomorrow”, S3E01 of The Bear. It’s such a beautiful ode to the culinary arts. The whole show really is great, although it’s about more than being chefs.

Another episode that gives me similar vibes is ”Give Peace a Chance”, S06E07 of Grey’s Anatomy. I know this show is very drama-focused, so this episode was a bit different. You really get to see their genuine interest of medicine.

I love seeing people that have a passion, genuine interest and dedication to their craft.

Do you have recommendations on shows, episodes, or even films like this?

Experiences with burnout?

I’m in my first year as a PhD student in mathematics. I’ve been feeling very stressed, having headaches almost every day, heart palpitations, physically and mentally tired (that doesn’t improve with sleep), struggle with sleeping. It’s like my brain has stopped working. I even struggle to read (which I’ve never struggled with before, it’s like the letters and words are floating). I also have a mild case of cerebral palsy, which I think might make me even more tired to begin with, and at a higher risk of getting burned out.

I’ve seen doctors and psychologists, done a bunch of tests, and they’re saying I’m most likely burned out. I’m from Sweden, and here you can get sick leave due to burnout (which I’ve gotten, for a month now). Thankfully, I still get financial support during this. My department and advisor have also been very nice and helpful about this. I’ve been told to completely take a break from work and just focus on resting, sleeping and eating well, and light movement (walks). I’m also starting therapy soon.

I would like to go back eventually, since I really enjoy the work, and everything. But I need to take better care of myself and find a work/life balance.

I’m just wondering, has anyone else experienced this?

Känner mig helt misslyckad just nu.

I feel like I rarely see men cry in movies (at least the ones I’ve seen), it’s usually women. Men are “supposed” to be more stoic I guess, and if you do see them being emotional, it’s usually a tear running down their face or something.

So, I’m wondering, what are the best, most realistic, raw, male crying scenes you’ve seen? Scenes where they actually break down. Scenes that feel real and vulnerable. I recently saw Mystic River, and Sean Penn blew me away.
