Implications of switching from knitting flat to in the round

Implications of switching from knitting flat to in the round

Hi! I’ve been knitting for 20+ years but I’m self-taught. I made this panel I’d like to use in a tank or sweater (still deciding as I go). I’m working on a back panel that I will graft to the sides.

I am considering finishing the bust and yoke in the round but I am wondering what the implications of this would be. Will my stitches be facing a different direction or twist the garment? Is there anything I should consider? I’ve made garments in the round that are finished flat but not the reverse. I prefer knitting top down but the castle pattern was bottom up so I’m trying to stretch myself and learn something new.

I will also be adding ribbing to the bottom after the front is joined to the back but that seems more straightforward.

One final question - can I knit in the round inside out so I can knit instead of purling? I know I *can* but I’m wondering if this will change the shape or drape of the finished piece.

Normal vet said we likely need to put our cat down, ICU vet said he’s probably fine. What is actually going on?

I can post labs or notes from the vet if helpful. PNW USA.

My [28M] mom’s [12M neutered] cat woke her up meowing a lot around 36 hours ago and led her to the litter box where he strained to urinate. He also drank a ton of water.

He has no prior health concerns. He’s a tabby cat she adopted a few years ago. He is 18.5 lbs and on a vet-prescribed diet for weight loss. He used to be almost 25 lbs. had a normal check up and bloodwork 2 weeks ago.

She took him to his normal vet 12 hours ago (a neighborhood clinic) and they initially thought he had a urinary blockage. After further testing they ruled it out and said there was an unknown mass in his intestines and that his intestines were “jumbled”. They also found a small tumor on his lung.

The vet said they had never seen anything like this before and said they didn’t expect him to make it. They transferred him to a vet ICU 2 hours away for additional labs.

The ICU did an MRI and said there’s no mass in his intestines, just gas. No blockage of poop or tumor, and that he could have something like pancreatitis, but there’s no specific inflammation. They said the tumor on his lung is likely benign. They said they can remove it now or monitor it but it’s unrelated to his other issue.

The ICU is keeping him for 24 hours but said he could come home tonight if we wanted. They suggested he stay so they can monitor him and said he should have another checkup soon or bring him in right away if anything else happens. Tonight they are giving him pain meds and fluids.

He had all normal labs at his check up two weeks ago. Labs today were fairly normal with some pain markers slightly elevated. Hydrated.

We are just confused. His normal vet was preparing us to put him down and it was a minute-by-minute situation. The ICU, which is in a major city and I assume has better vets (which could be biased and incorrect) seems much more hopeful and is acting like he’s totally fine.

I don’t know if he’s urinated since last night but I will ask the vet next time she calls. He’s been at the vet(s) for 12 hours now.

Any ideas what this could be or what is going on? I will post the xray and notes from the first local vet in the comments.

Does anyone have a recommendation for a tenants rights attorney that is not for low income folks?

Seeking a referral for an attorney or firm that can help me with an issue, my landlord claims that a lease provision supersedes state law.

I can pay, I’m not low income, but having a hard time finding a civil rights attorney that handles low-level tenant/landlord issues that won’t take days to get back to me.

Hi gals! I’m looking for a salon or stylist who can teach me how to braid or an overall natural hair styling course. My dream would be the Natural Hairstyling Program at Magic Fingers Institute but it is unfortunately out of my budget. I am the godmother to my friend’s perfect little bb girl who has 4b/4c curls and coils and would like to learn cornrows and some basic styles for when she’s a bit older. Does anyone have any recommendations?

Under $1k preferred but I’m not sure what is typical pricing so let me know if I am being unrealistic. Thank you for any and all suggestions!
