HomeKit Secure Video processing question

Can or do multiple hubs share processing of HKSV?

I have a Gen 1 ATV connected via ethernet, but as it doesn't support Thread I use a HomePod mini as my assigned hub. When a camera (wifi) captures video does the Mini share processing (Scene recognition, uploading etc) the video with the ATV? And along with that, if you have 3 cameras simultaneously capturing does it all get processed by the single Mini or share processing for those? If they don't share is there any advantage to adding more hub devices (ie more Minis)?

Seriously????

Last bill for my Chesterfield utility bill (Water) was $130.20. I accidentally paid $120.20. So today I get a bill for the $10 PLUS $1.50 penalty AND $.10 interest! Seriously? They couldn't just put the balance on the next bill? And to charge a penalty for 10 bucks and interest? I'd bet it cost them more than $1.60 to send the bill.

I sent them the $11.60 plus $.30, let's see if they pay me interest.

Lost HKSV in Apple Home

I woke up this morning, opened my Mac (Air M4), went to the Home app to see recorded HKSV video from my camera (Aqara Camera Hub G5 Pro) and the 4 or 5 most recent videos had a slash through the play button (and of course were unplayable). Several before those were OK. After a minute or two ALL the videos disappeared. Never to be seen again. What happened? What could cause that? Any other thoughts?

Camera Hub G5 Pro Wifi and Apple Home Automation issue

Ive read several posts about an issue I have, in various places, but never found a fix. So I'm giving it a shot here.

I have a Camera Hub G5 Pro Wifi Connected to both the Aqara app and Apple Home app. The only option for the device that triggers the automation on Apple Home is the camera motion sensor. And best I can figure there is no way to use the camera function with it's Ai object detection etc. And none of the settings on the Aqara app (Like sensitivity, detection area, Detection time interval etc) seem to have any effect on the motion sensor (PIR I assume) in Apple Home. It works great, easily detects motion and triggers automations in Apple Home. BUT HERE'S THE PROBLEM. I have an automation that turns on lights on my porch and is set to turn them off after a few minutes. But when the lights turn off the sensor sees that as motion and again triggers the automation and they turn right back on. The light fixtures can't be seen by the camera/sensor, so it's only the light from them shining on the ground. So once triggered they turn on then off until I intervene. I've tried everything I can think of and have very little sanity left.

Does anyone have a solution or work around?

Pixelation on live video from Camera Hub G5 Pro Wifi in Apple Home app

Just got a Camera Hub G5 Pro Wifi. Connected to Aqara app and Apple Home app. Live video on the Apple Home app at near full screen on 13 " MacBook Air M4 is quite pixelated and jerky. Looking at the recorded clip just a few seconds after it records is really great. Sharp, clear, and smooth. Looks fine on Aqara app, but it's on iPhone so size is very small (App crashes instantly on Mac). My Home hub is a HomePod mini, using 5G WiFi. I'm guessing it's either WiFi speed/connection strength (Though I have a very fast wifi) or the HomePod mini can't process live fast enough. Im looking for suggestions on what may be the cause, if there is anything I can do about it or other thoughts in general.

Other than that and one other issue I have that I am trying to work out, it's amazing!

Activity log for security devices in Apple Home

I have an Aqara Camera Hub G5 Pro connected to both the Aqara app and Home app. Going to Security in Apple Home it shows the camera. If I go to Activity log it shows door contact sensors opening and closing, door locks unlocking, but does not show motion detection events. Note that it does show if I change the Security tab to Home or Away. Is there a way to get it to show motion sensing events?

What Hub should I use questions

I use Apple Home with a somewhat simple bunch of things. Aqara and others. WiFi, or Thread and Matter. Home doesn't have access to some settings/features of some Aqara devices I have. I want to be more able to access them and be able to also use Aqara Zigbee devices (and perhaps other brands). I was thinking I could get an M3 hub to satisfy both of those needs. But then I saw the Camera Hub G5 Pro. Would the G5 allow me to add things to the Aqara app that I can't without an Aqara hub AND allow home to use Zigbee devices in Home? It would be nice (but not necessary) to add a camera to my system. So would the G5 suite my needs well or would I be better off with a G3 hub and add a camera separately (if at all)? Or are there better ideas?

Specifically the devices I have now are U300 door lock, Door and Window Sensors P2 and Motion and Light Sensor P2.

Missing data today 6-11-2026

ecobee was having issues with Mobile Services earlier today. It shows as missing data on ecobee.com- system monitor and beestat. Mine had quite a few breaks in data between about 2 am and 1 pm. I checked my system, and everything seemed fine. At about 2 pm they posted on status.ceobee.com that there were issues, and they have been resolved. So if you notice breaks in your data don't worry about it.

Maps vs Find My question for beta testers.

Something that has annoyed me about Tahoe (may have existed before, I don't know) is that in the Maps app the controls (+ and -, Driving or Satellite etc) are in the top right, but in Find My half are on the top right and the others are at the bottom right. That seems to me an inconsistency that's not typical for Apple, which prides itself on consistency. Has that been changed in Golden Gate?

Awhile back I bought a base model Air M4 256gb storage. I have a 2017 iMac with 1 TB storage, and since there isn't much storage on the Air I try to keep it down (just use it for simple stuff). I have most everything in iCloud enabled. I noticed on the Air that Messages, according to system settings>general>storage, was taking up about 90GB of space. I went through Messages and deleted old and unused conversations. That had very little effect on storage. I went through many more and deleted attachments (Photos, videos etc), and that had little effect on storage as shown in system settings>general>storage>messages. I thought maybe it was because of recently deleted messages, so I went and deleted those. Still very little change. I clicked the info icon next to messages in the storage section and many hundreds of attachments that were in messages I know I deleted were there! Deleting them there removes them from disk. I went through (Its a big hassle) and cleared the memory Messages uses down to 60MB. The folder they were contained in user library>messages>attachments is full of hundreds of folders with many sub folders, some empty, others have files that can't be opened. The OS doesnt seem to ever go through and clean that up.

So what's the deal? I don't know if this is specific to Tahoe or did it behave that way before? Is it a bug? Normal? Something to do with iCloud? Apple making sure you'll need more disk space? Or just Odd?
