best trails for fear of heights

Hi everyone! My partner and I would like to start hiking. We’ve never done it, and we both love to try new things and be out in nature.

The only thing is I unfortunately have a very extreme fear of heights which leads me to cry and/or have panic attacks. This is especially due to the feeling of potentially falling backwards, falling off a ledge, seeing others hanging near a ledge, seeing how high up we are, etc.

I don’t want this to stop us from trying this out, and it’s been something we’ve talked about for a while. I am put off a bit by Mt Tamanny and Palisades Interstate Trail because reviews for both locations on Google heavily recommend using proper hiking gear. Although this may be a suggestion for any hike, that puts me off and leads me to believe that it’d be a very rocky/unstable/frightening trail.

I’d like to ask you all if there are any other hiking areas in Jersey that may not be so intimidating for people like me. Thanks everyone!

Classic French!!!

Retail Brand: Beetles
Design: 1-Short Square Pink

It’s my first time trying this brand that I found on Amazon and I’m SOO happy with how they turned out. It’s a pack of 150 pieces for a little under $9. I glued them one with the MAKARTT nail glue, and topped them with LA COLORS Rapid Dry Top Coat since they’re matte.

Just wanted to show them off! :-D I usually stalk this subreddit but never post. Thanks!

Gift ideas for coffee lover boyfriend?

Hi everyone! My boyfriend’s birthday is coming up soon and I would love some gift ideas for him. He loves not only coffee itself, but the processed, gadgets, etc. behind making coffee. He is so heavily interested in it and so knowledgeable, he’s always teaching me more and more stuff.

Despite all this, I still don’t have a solid enough understanding of all things coffee to confidently get him a coffee related gift. Last year I got him ‘How to Make Best Coffee at Home’ by Hoffman, and he was so pleasantly surprised that I had even found that on my own lol.

I want to get him something quite affordable because we are trying to save money right now but I would still love to gift him something. In terms of gadgets, his collection is quite small. I know he has a stove-top espresso maker but I think that’s about it.

I’m open to any and all recommendations. Also, preferably something I can find on Amazon. Thanks everyone!

Most important things to take on carry on and personal item?

Hi everyone! In about a week I will be flying on United to California with my partner. It will be my very first time on a plane, and I am extremely nervous and stressed.

Despite my fear of heights lol, I tend to be an overpacker and despise not being fully prepared for something. We are planning on each taking our own carry on and personal item.

What are things that I should pack in each and what are some things that I should know (like DOs and DONTs for packing). I am also a curly haired girlie, how strict are they about hair products and gels, creams, etc? Please let me know all your tips and tricks. I appreciate it!

Best affordable shoes for Disney?

Hi everyone! My partner and I are going on a week trip to California in a week. On one of those days we are fully dedicating it to going to Disneyland. I have only ever been to Six Flags but I’m sure Disneyland is so much more walking and a lot more bigger.

I’ve been so occupied that I JUST realized today I have no shoes that are comfortable enough for something like a day at Disney. I was wondering if anyone has some shoe recs that are comfortable and affordable around $110 give or take. I also hope I can style them with different fits and have them be a versatile pair. Thanks for your help!

Ways to cover rest of out-of-pocket costs??

Hi everyone! I’m an incoming grad student for the Silver School at NYU. I’ve been blessed enough to receive a scholarship from the school, a name-based scholarship, and be accepted into one of the specializations who hopefully receive funding this year to discourse grants.

I wanted to partake in federal work study as well but potential funding from the specialization may butt heads with that.

I am a low-income student and my parents never raised money for my college. They never understood how much it truly cost. I was luckily able to get by in undergrad considering how much easier it is to get financial aid and I was an in-state student so tuition was lower (I’m from NJ).

I am wondering for those of you who have struggled to pay out of pocket, what did you do to raise money and get by? Because of my schedule and internship, I will only have one weekday available until the evening where I will have an online class.

Can NYU continue to help me anymore or are they not that generous? What are some jobs or ways you were quickly able to raise and save money? I’m thinking of investing but I’m not sure how fast growing that is.

I would greatly appreciate any help. Thank you so much.

Family friendly places to watch late World Cup game tn?

Hi everyone! I am looking to watch the late night 10:00 PM Colombia vs. DR Congo game tonight with my sister and some friends. Most of us are 21+ but not all.

I’m looking for a place with seating, big and/or plenty of TVs, and good wings. If there are happy hours as well for food and drinks that do not require everybody in party to be 21+ that’d be a bonus! Also, it being affordable always helps of course.

Thanks everyone for your help!

Sudden brown spots appearing on my arms and hands?

Hi everyone! Recently I’ve had brown spots begin to appear on my arms and hands. I’ve included some pictures. Only reason I am dreading making a dermatologist appointment is because the only derm that takes my insurance and that I’ve gone to before really requires me to go out of my way and essentially dedicate a good chunk of my day to it.

I am unsure if these are sun spots or not, and I feel like they just suddenly keep appearing. They’ve only been appearing on my arms and hands for about three weeks.

I’ve gotten sun spots on my lips before and I’ve always had those brown spots on the back of my hands that older people seem to always have. I’m just curious and would like to know if this can be serious. I will also buy sunscreen soon, I’m just waiting for some money to be able to. If sun is the problem, what SPF is recommended for something like this?

Thanks everyone!

Hi everyone! For the past three days, my gums around certain teeth have been feeling swollen. There’s about three or four teeth in my mouth right now where the gums around it feel swollen and irritated.

I brush my teeth twice a day for 2 minutes each time with my manual toothbrush, and I floss every night. Granted, sometimes when I floss I don’t always tend to do it the right way, and am trying to get out of the habit of doing a sawing motion. But, it is very rare I do that and have gotten used to doing it correctly.

I’m very concerned because I feel I take good care of my teeth. When I go get cleanings, my dentist just tells me to keep doing what I’m doing. I’m unsure what other reasons could be as to why I’m having swollen gums. And should I make an appointment with my dentist?
