Denied for.. checking accounts?

Put in an application because of the $300 when spending $1500 promo. Fico 748, no missed payments and ~5% utilization.

Got denied because my «credit report showed inquiries related to checking accounts». This one is new for me, did not know credit cards could be affected by checking accounts? I have indeed opened 2 bank accounts the last 12 months but was unaware this would have an effect or count as inquiries on my credit report. Anybody else with similar experience?

Support claims Green card’s 3x on travel only applicable in US

Had plane tickets post with only 1x instead of 3x on my Green, tried to get support to correct. They claim it’s ineligible because it is not in USD. Surely this can’t be right, there is nothing in the terms saying it’s only for US purchases, and I have gotten 3x on other travel and transit purchases such as hotel and subway so far in the UK.

Not giving it on foreign purchases would kinda defeat it’s purpose as a travel card..

Abandoned skyscraper in Lujiazui?

Came over this seemingly abandoned skyscraper in the middle of LuJiaZui, just a couple blocks from the Pearl Tower. Plot completely overgrown and gone unkept. Photos taken from the Kempinski Hotel, where I’m currently staying. Staff said it had been like this for many years.

Anybody know the story? Crazy to me that such a building can exist in the middle of the financial district. I assume some developer that went bankrupt, but the land must still be worth a lot. Why is seemingly noone interested in buying it?

EO has been signed by Trump, Big potential changes for ITIN holders

There were earlier rumors about a new KYAC EO requiring proof of citizenship. This order has now been signed by Trump, with some minor changes. Link

Perhaps most relevant to us, is section (vi), advising on risks on:

*the use of an individual taxpayer identification number (ITIN) to obtain credit products or open depository accounts where the applicant lacks verified lawful immigration status. Although an ITIN facilitates tax compliance, its use in lieu of a Social Security number or valid work-authorized visa may be identified as a risk factor requiring enhanced due diligence to ensure the account is not being utilized to facilitate the unlawful employment of unauthorized aliens.*

Exact effects are still unknown, as the Secretary of the Treasury shall issue a formal Advisory to financial institutions within 60 days of the order. If financial institutions decide the extra due diligence is not worth it, this might be the end of ITIN lending all together.
