Me and my friend disagreed on this a while back, so I wanna see what people think.
I think every aspect of a fighting game's design should focus around the lifespan of the game itself, even the art design. Especially the art design. If you want the game to last, tons of people have to play it every day for a long time. If they play it every day, they're gonna be seeing the same animations hundreds of times. So, cutscenes should be short.
Long supers can take even longer because often you want to wallbreak with one, so that's the length of the animation + the wallbreak sequence + waiting to get up from a hard knockdown, which is another 5 seconds or so.
They're a BITCH to lab also, by far the worst part. Half my Weapons Free labbing was spent on twitter.
IMO, no super should be longer than 5 seconds. 3 seconds for the basic one, 5 for their cinematic closeup shot. I think this is a good average that leaves more than enough room for aura. Supers that are slightly longer than this (like Johnny's) are pushing it, and 10 second supers shouldn't exist at all. Idek what they were cooking with Slayer in particular.
Wrote all this because people didn't like Robo-Kys longass super where he just stands there for a while and I'm mad I can't play right now lol
I really love the bits that I can actually discern (if I'm wrong about any of them I will commit war crimes) but I wanna hear everything else. It's genuinely baffling that they don't do this. A matchup isn't fun just because it's free. ABA/Testament is one of the most braindead matchups in this entire game and it's not even close. Even if she does block all your shit, it's literally impossible for her to box you in if you're paying attention because you can just LEAVE. You can just LEAVE the corner and now she's gotta drag herself all the way over there AGAIN.
It genuinely takes a million years to kill her like this because approaching her is a stupid, unoptimal and pointless idea. Despite what some people will tell you, ABA's not LITERALLY unplayable, and some of those incredibly cheap installs are still intact.

You know, I remember being excited after learning Ribbit wasn't a dude, because I wasn't expecting it? But now, I'm honestly wishing they had been a guy, because maybe if she was then Goose wouldve spared her a single fucking morsel of writing.
All the fake intrigue around this character makes me so angry. The show keeps telling you they had a "falling out" but that is not what fucking happened. Ribbit quite literally did nothing wrong and Jax drove them to suicide. I guess she raised her voice at him once on the mountain? Is that what Goose thinks a falling out is?
I cannot BELIEVE he basically killed this innocent person, honestly two people, and continues to treat people like this in present day. He practically slanders their name to Pomni and blames the abstraction on them, saying that people suck before they abstract when we see that's objectively not true. I hate him. I hate him
What I have a problem with is that this show is so terrified of literally any drama or confrontation unless it's about Jax, that you don't even see them talking about this. I could see some—actually, all of them questioning the ethics of it for different reasons.
I could see Zooble asking Caine if there's a way to delete the abstractions, like a mercy kill or something. Everyone else might have unique reactions to that. Gangle might even find it objectionable, which might actually make those two have a real conversation with conflict in it.
Pomni would be super skeptical, having literally been inside the Jaxstraction hours ago and seeing how rough it is in there. Sure they're "fine" in the dark, but is "fine" enough? And how do they even really know the abstractions are fine?? The dark could just severely weaken them or lull them into hypnosis and you wouldn't know. It could be like flipping a chicken upside down and assuming the chicken likes it because it's being so quiet and still, but it's actually just frozen because you're scrambling its tiny brain with horrors beyond its comprehension.
Like, Pomni shot out all the lights before she entered the Jax zone and he was still going through it, so the dark can't be helping them that much?
The worst part is this could have been fixed with 5 minutes of screentime, or even a single, no-dialogue scene of the abstractions doing literally anything. Show them playing with toys or tossing a ball around, or like, playing checkers, Idk. It's really fucked up that they didn't enrich this environment at all when they all have limitless creation abilities.
I like to play simple rushdowns when I take zoner breaks, mainly Unika, but I'm picking Ky back up cause I love him and genuinely find him hilarious.
I'm still slumming it in plat 2 because I'm so carried by Unika's free overhead that I have no idea how to get people to stop blocking. People already know to avoid throw by jumping, and run up charged dust is insanely effective but I know it won't work forever. So what do I do?
I actually really liked the part where Gangle walks off crying when they're putting Jax up in the pillow fort. It's a complicated situation, and you would have a lot of conflicting emotions. (The way literally everyone except Zooble ignores her pisses me off though, like yeah, great job making everybody feel wanted and loved guys, it's not like that other guy abstracted hours ago cause you ALSO ignored him when he walked off alone. Cool.)
But then they just fucking roll past the conversation. I thought they were gonna talk for a while about it to follow up on the previous scene where Gangle is sad that she can't cry for Jax, but no. Zoobles like "hey, are you good??" and Gangle's like "Yeah" and they just go back. Why even have the scene in the first place????????
I guess they just didn't have time for it cause it was taking screentime away from what REALLY matters.
I genuinely can't believe they put that in the fucking movie dude. I didn't even find it funny, I just couldn't believe it. I still can't believe it. People are gonna get in so much trouble in the theaters when they start laughing.
