Porcelain tiles for worktop

Looking for some advice regarding using porcelain slab tiles as a worktop. I have found these large format tiles, that match pretty much what I need for my kitchen worktops. Thinking this on a ply/mdf base, resin grout and sealed? Would this be an option instead of a more expensive alternative? TIA

Is this a bad idea….? Unlacquered brass sink and tap

Is this a bad idea…? I lacquered brass sink and tap

Hi all, I am redesigning my kitchen and at the moment have a walnut and neutrals colour palette, I love the look of the unlacquered brass, particularly as it ages and patinas. But I have never seen this in practice for a kitchen. Would this type of material work? Is it possible? I hope so 😄

Small bathroom redesign.

I have just purchased this basement Victorian flat in London and struggling with bathroom design due to size. Looking for layout suggestions that would work in this space to make it feel less cramped, removing the bathroom and installing a walk in shower. The head height is about 1.9m so low ceiling. The window goes to the external wall into my garden so bot public.

TIA!

Can I put shower head on wall with fan?

I am redesigning my bathroom and want to take the bath out and put the shower on the wall that has a vent fan. Would this be an issue having the shower as shown in the mockup? (Aware ChatGPT has conveniently moved the fan, but the fan will be in the shower cubicle

Walnut veneer mdf cabinet diy

I’m looking to replace my kitchen cabinet doors with walnut but they are all different sizes and custom doors are proving hard to find. Im in the uk and have come across this walnut veneer mdf that I was wondering could be used to make some doors, like the style in the photo. I haven’t made cabinet doors before so looking for some advice. Also aware that mdf can swell if wet, so perhaps there’s an extra step I can take with varnish as these are unfinished? Thanks in advance

Plaster coming off after tile removal

Hi there! have just got a new flat that requires some updating and trying to do as much as I can myself (a goal of mine for my first flat). As I was pulling off the tiles, it pulled off the lining wallpaper, the plaster (?) and the plasterboard (possibly?!) back to the brick. Looking for some help identifying what I pulled off and what the best next steps are. It was crumbling off to where it has stopped in the photo so think it needed done regardless. Happy to admit defeat and get a professional if not diy-able.

Thanks in advance

Prep for laminate wood flooring

I have just got a new flat that requires some updating and trying to do as much as I can myself (a goal of mine for my first flat). I have pulled up the carpet and underlay and found a solid concrete, level floor. The underlay was glued down so it has some residue from that which is the only issue.

I would greatly appreciate advice on how to go about prepping this for laminate herringbone wood flooring which I plan to lay myself.

Thanks in advance.
