Topomax fears as a classroom teacher

I'm a migraine suferrer and recently had a second bout of what we are thinking is a vestibular migraine. The dizziness still has not gone away.

This all started after a virus (possibly COVID) fall of 25. I began passing out or losing vision, and the dizziness and migraine would last days to weeks.

All tests are clear, including blood tests. MRA is being ordered.

Obviously I now have sky high anxiety and am exhausted trying to get through the day. It's become a cycle where the anxiety increases my dizziness. You all know the drill.

Rizatriptan with meloxicam has been a huge help in the migraines, and somewhat helpful for dizziness.

Doctor wants me to go on topomax, but I'm very concerned about the side effects. I love alone and am a teacher. I'm worried about the "losing words" and read that some folks get vleven more dizzy. I'm responsible for so many students each day, and the environment is already triggering to my current symptoms, but I don't know what else to take. My doctor is aware of my profession.

Any success stories or tips?

Also, I'm still not out of this dizziness episode, and wanted to start taking it once it stopped, so I can get a clear understanding if it's actually helping.

Can't take Valtrex

I get cold sores fairly frequently especially during the school year because my job is stressful. The first week back and I got a monster on the side of my mouth. I'm doing all my usual at home remedies but cannot take the prescription valtrax because it gives me horrible migraines. It's so frustrating because I know it helps but the migraines are too pervasive and painful.

I just want to share because I'm so frustrated. Of course this is the first week of school which means picture day and I teach freshman who of course lac filters and ask questions. On top of all the stress and making sure that I don't spread it. I become hyperviligant which also contributes to the stress.

As an aside, I would also welcome any suggestions!

I'm doing the usual ice alcohol or acetone whatever I have available and of course lysine.

Tipping tattoo artist?

I'm researching getting a large tattoo. I have several small ones from 15+ years ago. I never remembered tipping. I was visiting several websites and looking around reddit, and I saw several mentions of tipping 20 percent or more. Is this common practice now?!

How do you conserve your energy?

I'm working on lessening my burnout from school. I've been a high school ELA teacher for 6 years with hundreds of students. Endless hours on clthe computer and grading essays has taken its toll. Not to mention I teach some high need students and have a toxic admin.

I've been working on boundaries and see a therapist. I have done everything I can to streamline my classroom etc. But I still am just so tired all the time.

I'm wondering how others keep their sanity and energy conserved for when they get home.

Young rooster with swollen face?

This rooster is not mine as he belongs to neighbors. Comes up on my property once in awhile. I noticed his face is extremely puffy and he's missing feathers around it. It also looks like there's some slight lacerations under his chin. He does not let me touch him so I can't get close to him. Does this look like something medical going on? There are other roosters and chickens in his flock. I have tried contacting the neighbors but they are not the nicest.

*Update. Thank you all for ponting out the various possibilities. I know that (horrible) people fight them, but I guess I was naive to the possibility these types of birds could be raised, quite literally, in my back yard. I used to have a small flock of my own and they brought me such joym I couldn't imagine ever abusing them in any way. I truly just thought the poor guy was sick, even though, yes, it's certainly possible he could have gotten into a fight with another bird. There have been SEVERAL young roosters in this little flock coming up. Everyone seems to behave, so until I noticed the injury, I just let them chill.

I also now understand now the idea of dubbing for various reasons, thanks to you all. I do not agree with it beyond a medical standpoint (and under the care of a vet) after doing research.

Another neighbor near me called animal control before I could make a move. They contacted me, and I told them my observations. The AC folks are very good where I am, so I have faith they will take care of the situation. I will continue to monitor the situation and the health of Mr Bird if he keeps coming around.

Thanks everyone for your insight and suggestions as well as support. I have learned so much today.
