So I am planning on running a sort of game with my friends (as GM) where they play as Government Officials during a Zombie Outbreak and try to stop it.
Problem is, basically all plagues I came across are either too under- or overpowered for it to be fun.
On one side of the spectrum there's the usual shambling dead, you know, Walking Dead type stuff. Problem is, they're absolutely not a threat. Like the milisecond the guys (and girl) get their shit together the zeds will be shredded unless I give them absurd plot armor. Zero challange.
On the other side there's shit like the Yellow Flu from the Left 4 Dead series. Like how do you fight against Tanks? How do you actually stop the spread of a disease like this? The only real solution is nukes, and I don't think them just nuking everything in the first 5 minutes of the game, and then leaving the discord call, makes for a very fun experience.
Currently my idea is something like the rage virus but more balanced - they run slower and are more frail than the movie fellers, at the cost of taking much, much longer to starve to death. That said I am not 100% sure about it.
Do you have any ideas to help a chum out?
