Employee Dress code Question

I’d really appreciate if anyone could help me out with this! I have orientation tomorrow, and I was wondering if airforce 1’s are okay shoes and fit the dress code? And also, are nail extensions okay or do my nails have to be natural?

Is my friend taking advantage of me?

This post might make me look broke, and I am. But please take into account that I’m freshly 19 (and so is my friend)

About a week ago we went out to eat. The bill was around $60. I paid, and she insisted on getting the exact amount from the receipt so she could e-transfer me her half later. She repeatedly said she’d pay me back.
She never did.

That same day she accidentally dropped and completely broke my perfume that was about 70% full (it cost $60). She never apologized.

The very next day she texted me asking which perfume she should buy because she was shopping for herself, which honestly rubbed me the wrong way.

Fast forward to yesterday. She asked me to hang out, and I thought maybe she’d finally pay me back.

Instead, she texted me on the way asking for bus money because she forgot her cash. Even though she already owed me money, I sent her $2. She didn’t even thank me.

We got there, and we because we were smoking, I bought myself water. She drank half of my water despite me saying I needed it. And she kept portioning and splitting it between us.

Then she starts saying she’s starving and asks me to buy her food.

I said no multiple times because I literally don’t have money. She has a job. I don’t. I haven’t worked in years and she knows that.

She kept pushing anyway, which is crazy to me, because I would die of shame if I pushed someone to buy me anything.

Eventually she grabbed a small bag of chips. She ate hers, ate a lot of mine too, then went home early because she was “still hungry.”

Now she’s trying to act all normal and she’s calling/texting me. This all kind of built resentment so I’ve just been ignoring her.

How do you say no to people without feeling so insanely bad about it? Should I keep ghosting until the friendship dies out or should I say something to end it?

Am I getting taken advantage of or overreacting?

What are the youth supposed to do?

For the love of god, any advice would truly be appreciated. I’m 19 and have been looking for a job since 2024. I have 2 years of experience in food environments, and some for retail as I did co-op in high school. I’m very good at talking, so I know it’s not me screwing up with interviews. I genuinely am losing it, there is nobody hiring, and even if they are, they don’t actually want to hire young people. It feels like they’re doing it for show.

I would look for jobs in construction but I don’t think I’d physically meet the criteria as I am female and not very strong, I don’t think they’d want that.

I also applied for jobs on the official Job Bank website, no response from that either.

Are we just done for? Is my only option to just go to college right now?

Business owner paying less than minimum wage

I just made a post on here a couple of days ago about really struggling to find a job as an 18 year old, and I just finally found a job at a local burger place. The guy asked several questions and accepted me on the spot, ya red flag. Then he asked if I’m a citizen, which I said yes, then he still proceeded to say he wants to pay me $12 an hour and in cash. Not sure why in cash. I also did mention to him that my last job paid $17.60.

I’m a year out of high school, so I really need the money to eventually move out, get a busted car, or just for day to day needs. Is it a really stupid idea to accept this even if I’m desperate? Will I get in legal trouble? Please help me out

Genuinely either nobody is hiring, or if they are, they aren’t willing to give a chance to an 18 year old and require 97 years of experience for a minimum wage entry level job. If anybody has any insight, I would truly appreciate it from the bottom of my heart because I have run out of ideas.

I recently went to a 2 hour multi-group interview with countless people for a minimum wage cashier position, all that just for an international student (not that there’s anything wrong with that) who gave absolute chatgpt answers to bag the job. Is that the method?

I’m in Ontario, Canada. Either nobody is hiring, or if they are, they aren’t willing to give a chance to an 18 year old and require 97 years of experience for a minimum wage entry level job. If anybody has any insight, I would truly appreciate it from the bottom of my heart because I have run out of ideas.
