Hi everyone,

I’m currently learning German (around A2/B1 level) and I’m a bit confused about the difference between “für” and “zu”, especially when both can be translated as “for” in English.

For example:

Das Geschenk ist für dich.

I understand that “für” is often used for a person or purpose, while “zu” can indicate direction or relation, but sometimes I’m not sure which one to use when talking about purpose or function.

Is there a clear rule or guideline to know when to use “für” vs “zu” in these cases?

I’m currently around B1 level and I’ve been trying to improve my listening by using podcasts. The problem is: I don’t understand most of what I hear. I can catch some words here and there, but a lot of it just goes by too fast.

Is this normal at this stage, or am I using the wrong kind of material?

Also, would it help if I wrote down the words I don’t understand and translated them, or is there a better way to deal with this?

From a Marxist perspective, how should we understand the “Jewish Question” historically, and what would be the path toward its real resolution? Is it primarily tied to overcoming class society and nationalism, or is there a more specific framework within Marxist theory that addresses it?
