I wrote in this forum the other day, asking for recommendations regarding capitalist realism - whether in tv, film or literature. I got some pretty good recommendations but I was wondering if anyone had any specifically in regard to fictional books.

It can be recent or it can be older - I am just curious due to my current MA in literature, I would like to read some that is close to this topic but also not necessarily theory based like Fisher.

What tv shows, films, literature would you say embody Capitalist Realism the most?

I feel like you could say anything vaguely but what has a strong connection to what Mark Fisher said - maybe regarding mental health, bureaucracy, etc…

So, I have just graduated with a first class in an English language and literature course, I’m attending a different university for a master’s degree in Literature.

I would really like a career in academia, I have had a couple of lecturers who have inspired me to continue this journey and have a job just like it.

However, I have not given it a thought yet what I’d want to research into. I have looked around universities all over the UK (I have a specific city in mind) but none of them really cater to English students or they have an English research department you have to fund or get a scholarship for.

It really is a dream for me but I think I would rather gain a scholarship or join a funded research project (both seem so difficult).

If anyone has had this same struggle and decided to continue with a PHD or something else, can you let me know what the process was like or just anything?

I want to have an idea before I start my masters so I can speak to supervisors etc but I want to hear from people with real and raw experiences!!!

Does anyone know how to get old messages to load? I rediscovered an old msp acc and I want to see what I was like years ago?😭but the messages never load…

I’m looking for a new nose piercing, I’ve only ever really had screw in ones. Is there a better option out there? I feel like I’m used to it more than happy with it, mine is constantly falling out.

I also was wondering if anyone knew of any websites with good quality and reasonably priced jewellery online (UK based). I wanted like a trio of gems sort of thing. All of the websites I’ve come across, including like piercing mania, apparently aren’t safe for skin? So idk!! Help please!!

Does anybody remember Ava MSP? Who created the Literally My Life series? I remember years ago I’d watch it constantly and even remember a face reveal at what point?

I wonder what she’s doing now! Or any of the famous MSP creators! I redownloaded it for the nostalgia and it’s so dead!!!

I am considering handing in my notice today!! At 3pm!! Or next week but my heart is pretty set on this week as I move away at the end of August (notice period is 4 weeks).

I was just wondering how any other fellow Sainsbury’s workers did this. I do work in a Sainsbury’s local so it’s kind of a small workforce.

I know I could do letter/email and whatever but I just wondered what is best and do I need to contact HR also or is my manager enough.

I’m currently finishing up my undergraduate English Literature dissertation (or research project) and I’ve come to the conclusion it’s just one big essay.
