Do you think I can do this 2.5 weeks after surgery (plans for tomorrow)?

I had my surgery two weeks ago Tuesday, so I’m almost to three weeks. I have been feeling pretty good and have been on my feet more and even running errands, yay!

Tomorrow there is a parents weekend at my son’s college that is a couple hours away that includes a football game. We have tickets and, if I go, we’d drive down, walk around a bit, socialize and then go to the game. We’d drive back afterwards.

Like I said, I’m doing pretty well. I still have discharge when I’m on my feet, which I understand is normal. My pain at this point has been pretty minimal. I don’t want to increase my pain, disrupt my healing, or - worst case scenario - reverse any of my reconstruction. I had a cystocele, enterocele, and rectocele repair, along with perineum reconstruction.

Thanks for your support and opinions!

Surgery — hysterectomy and prolapse repair — looking for experiences…

Hi - I’ve dealt with a stage 2 (moving close to stage 3) prolapse for many years. I had three vaginal births and each caused tearing and many stitches. I had fairly large babies and had a forceps delivery with one and a vacuum delivery with another one.

My main issues have been pelvic pain/heaviness, incomplete bladder emptying and constipation. I’m perimenopausal and also have fibroids and adenomyosis.

I’m scheduled for a vaginal hysterectomy, bilateral salpingectomy, anterior and posterior colporrhaphy, sacrospinous colpopexy, cystocele/rectocele/enterocele repair, and colpoperineorrhaphy. My understanding is this will repair my cystocele (which is the most prolapsed), along with a less prolapsed rectocele and enterocele. My perineum will be repaired. And my bladder will be attached to my ligaments via a mesh sling.

My surgeon specializes in vaginal reconstructive surgery, so I feel confident I am in good hands.

I’m looking for other women’s experience with this surgery and hoping to find out what recovery was like. Also, have you been satisfied with the results?

Thank you in advance!

Hysterectomy and prolapsed bladder repair (with suspected adenomyosis)

Hi! I’m a fifty year old woman who has had pain during my periods (and most other times) for a majority of my life. I have fibroids and a history of ovarian cysts. There is a family history of endometriosis and ultrasounds have shown markers for adenomyosis — doctors think I may have endometriosis as well. Like many of you, I’ve lived with a lot of pain that affects me greatly. My uterus and bladder are also prolapsed due to three births (my youngest is 18).

I got a mirena iud 5 years ago that helped with heavy bleeding but the pelvic pain, bloating, digestive issues, and back/hip pain still comes and goes with my cycles, causing major disruptions to my sleep and life!

A met with a surgeon who recommends removing my uterus/fallopian tubes and reconstructing my vagina using a mesh sling to position my bladder correctly.

I’m so done with dealing with all of this. I think perimenopause has worsened all of my symptoms. I want to have more good days, which are rare now.

I’m looking for anyone who is willing to share their experience — thanks!

Qlipta — mood changes

Can qlipta cause mood changes, including depression? Long story short, I have been treating somewhat debilitating migraines for years. They have increased in the last few years in both quantity and intensity. I have Botox every 12 weeks and use rizatriptan and umbrelvy as needed. I’m on my third week of 30 mg Qlipta. Life is tough right now — I have some personal things going on that are very stressful. I’ve had situational depression before but I’m wondering if the qlipta is worsening it. Curious what science and other patients say…

Also, I think migraines have somewhat lessened, but when will I have the full effect of qlipta? (migraines are depressing too but you all probably know that…)

Prometrium - what symptoms did it help with? What side effects did you have?

I’m 51. I’m in perimenopause but have a adenomyosis and likely endometriosis. I have had a mirena iud for 5 years. I still cycle monthly, although it’s irregular at times.

My issues are uterine pain/cramping/extreme bloating and my migraines have worsened (but I’m working with a neurologist to get that under control). I have brain fog, but it could be related to the migraines too.

With the adenomyosis and likely endometriosis, my doctor and I are hesitant to start HRT because I don’t have many other perimenopause symptoms. I still have PMS (breast pain, tiredness, bloating, etc) but I have had that my entire life. (FWIW, I’m considering having my uterus removed).

Anyway, just wondering what specific issues progesterone helped with and, counter wise, what were side effects?

If you have uterine issues like me, please let me know!

Maybe Qlipta is helping?! *fingers crossed*

I’ve been in the chronic migraine zone for a few months and have been treating with Botox, rizatriptan and umbrelvy for a while — longer than just the last few months. My neuro prescribed Qlipta at the last appointment and I’ve been taking 30mg for about a week.

Yesterday and today seem to be the first consecutive days I have been migraine free! My head doesn’t hurt AND I’m not so foggy! No word finding issues. No grogginess. I was productive all day long. I’m holding my breath, but if this is life without migraines, oh my gosh, sign me up!!! I don’t think I even realized just how terrible it had become.

Side effects seem minimal. Some constipation but I’m treating it with miralax and mag citrate.

I hope this is the beginning of a different life!

Zyrtec causing/worsening migraines?

Long story short. I have had migraines for years. Have treated with triptans. Currently getting Botox for preventative (for the last year), using rizatriptan and umbrelvy for abortive and recently started Qlipta for preventative.

I also have year round allergies. I had allergy shots but still take antihistamines, steroid spray and antihistamine nose spray. I also go back to Benadryl because newer antihistamines always have significant side effects. I recently tried Zyrtec again and seemed to have a week long migraine. Not the worst, but just never-ending. Stopped taking Zyrtec yesterday and the pain is gone.

Does Zyrtec do that to anyone else? If you have allergies, what antihistamine has the least side effects for you?

Qlipta if I already have constipation issues?

I already receive Botox injections and use rizatriptan and umbrelvy for rescue meds. I’m still having migraines and my doctor suggested daily Qlipta. She mentioned constipation as a side effect that often subsides. I already struggle with episodes of constipation. Can anyone share their experience?
