I miss my happy crush from work.

He’s been on site in Victoria since the 12th and won’t be back until the 24th. I’m feeling really lonely without my little routine of “neck-breaking” just to catch a glimpse of him when he passes by.

I keep thinking about the way he smells when I’m near him, and how he gets flustered when he catches me staring—still makes me laugh.

I’m not even mad that I miss him… I’m just sad because it’s so quiet here without him around.

What do you think?

Hi everyone, I need some help reading a situation at work.

Last Friday, I (F) started a conversation with my work crush (M). We hit it off right away—he was genuinely talkative with me, and I felt like we connected. I couldn’t stop thinking about him all weekend.

Yesterday, I was busy. In the morning I tried catching his eyes to greet him, but he didn’t look back at first. Then when I walked past him, he whispered “Good morning” to me without really looking at me (only I heard it), and I was honestly so happy that I greeted him back. Later we ate together with the rest of the team, but we didn’t really talk one-on-one.

Today, I noticed something different: I was walking toward him and saw him staring at me. He didn’t look away or smile—just stared. I tried to talk to him before going home, but I felt like I caught him off guard. He stuttered while answering my questions, then quickly said “bye.”

Now I’m confused. I thought after Friday we were at least a little closer than before, and he was so sweet to greet me yesterday. He also keeps walking behind me today, so I thought it might be a sign he wanted to chat—but when I approached him, he didn’t continue the conversation.

I really want to get closer to him, even just as friends. If he’s not interested, I’d still be okay being work friends—I just don’t know how to move forward. Should I keep trying to talk to him, or should I avoid him and give it space?

Liking a colleague

Help! I think I’m in trouble. I’m 40F, married with two kids, but my husband and I aren’t really staying as partners anymore. We still share the same house for financial reasons, but we mostly keep to ourselves—different rooms, separate routines—and we only really talk about the kids. Lately, I think I’m falling hard for my work crush (27M), He seems friendly (sometimes a little snobby), and when I try to talk to him, he’ll stop what he’s doing, maintain strong eye contact, and keep the conversation going.

I also learned more about his career/work just from one question—he mentioned personal details like where he lives and that he bought a house. On my birthday, I asked to take a photo together and he agreed right away, but then he avoided me for a while. Now we’re back to normal, and he’s usually very close and attentive when we talk, but we don’t really chat outside work. I also don’t want to initiate because it feels like he doesn’t act that way with my other colleagues. My heart keeps jumping, and I’m worried about what this could turn into— I don't think he likes me, I'm having problem with how I react with him
around.

Liking a Colleague

Hi Aussie guys—do you ever find a married colleague pretty? And do you ever develop a crush on someone who’s older and married? If yes, do you keep it strictly professional, or do you distance yourself?
Just curious how common that is.
