I for one would love to hear a full song from Mr. Ratburn's rock band "The Ratburn Rats"

"I'm a super rat!"

Thoughts on Clayton Davis' current acting predictions for the 2027 Oscars?

Personally, I think these look decent. I don't agree with his confidence in Tender Loving Care since that movie is being distributed by Bleecker Street which doesn't have the best reputation when it comes to awards.

He doesn't have Mariana Di Girolamo in best supporting actress for Wild Horse Nine whereas she's being widely predicted by this community sight unseen.

Turturro is a bubble contender, kind of surprised Davis has him in over others in stronger movies (such as Gosling in Project Hail Mary).

Why is IBM's contractor staffing such garbage?

We hired 8 contractors and honestly only 1 was actually decent. Out of 8. We're a SaaS shop so we've been burned pretty hard. I thought IBM would have some kind of vetting process but apparently not.

One guy literally didn't even show up. No joke. Hired him and he just... wasn't there. For two months barely committed anything and only popped in for meetings when he had to. How does that happen?

Another dude could talk a big game in standup and make it sound like he knew what he was doing. But then you look at the code and it's just a mess. Full of bugs. Talks the talk but can't walk the walk at all.

So my question is... why is contractor quality so consistently bad no matter who you hire from? Does IBM actually care about who they send out or do they just throw whoever at the problem and hope something sticks? Genuinely curious if anyone else has had better luck or if this is just how it is.

Is this really that serious?

Noticed water basically flowing out of the vent beside me as I got into my seat. Voiced it out to a flight attendant thinking it was just something minor and wanting to just swap to another seat. Two pilots came to my seat to check on it and had visibly puzzled looks on their faces. The mechanic was called into the aircraft, the inner panel of the plane was removed and after assessing the problem for about an hour, everyone was asked to disembark the plane. The flight was then cancelled entirely after another hour of everyone waiting near the gate.

I feel kinda bad because people were visibly annoyed and frustrated by the cancellation as it was a 16 hour long haul flight and there were few alternatives to get to the destination. Would someone be able to tell me exactly what happened here?
