Addressing trauma before dating.

Do you consider and/or address prior trauma, triggers, or wounds before seriously dating someone? I'm curious. If you do, what does that look like for you? If not, why not?

To be clear, I don't believe a person has to be 100% healed to date, as healing happens in healthy relationship with others. :)

Habits Contrary to CIRS Recovery

I’ve been diagnosed with CIRS since 2024 and probably had it since at least 2022. I still struggle with Step 1 of CIRS / Shoemaker Protocol: Getting out of exposure. With that being said, I notice myself having difficulty establishing healthy habits or changing destructive habits to CIRS recovery, like going to bed and waking up at set times (I don’t have insomnia or serious sleep issues), cutting out sugar and sticking to low amylose diets, and things of that nature.

My question is, do any other CIRS patients struggle with habit changes? If you got out of this loop, how’d you do it?

Exercising with CIRS?

Are you exercising as a CIRS patient? If so, what does that look like for you now or at any point in your treatment?

What kind of guidelines or advice did your doctor, practitioner, etc. give you, if any?

Mine told me to walk daily for 15-30 minutes and to not push myself too hard...

Pray for Spouse’s Purity through St. Maria Goretti

July 6th is St. Maria Goretti’s feast day. If you don’t know her story, it’s worth reading here: https://www.catholic.org/saints/saint.php?saint_id=78 but basically she was murdered for her commitment to complete purity at age 12, and she forgave her attacker before she died. She is patron of purity, youth, young women, and victims of r*pe.

If you’re praying for your future spouse, pray for their increased purity in heart and body through St. Maria’s intercession today! 💕

Gratitude for the Year

I’m celebrating one year in ACA today! I didn’t think I’d make it this far. I’m really proud of myself for committing to my recovery for all this time (I can be flaky)! The new plan is to continue for another year. When I talk with ACA veterans, I’m so impressed with their recovery and acceptance of self. I hope to be more accepting and approving of myself and my past as I keep working the program. I hope to see more of the ACA promises manifest in my life. I hope to let go of some of the laundry list traits a little at a time.

This year has been incredibly challenging; working the program is not easy! I spent the first 8 months coming out of denial and fighting my suppressed feelings, and I’m still not fully out of it. But it‘s also been rewarding as I see small improvements in my behaviors and thought life.

I express my gratitude for this incredible program, Higher Power, and I thank all other courageous ACAs who dare to face their pasts and work their programs in the present; you inspire me to continue.

If you’re considering ACA, I highly recommend it. Give 6 meetings a try and see what happens.

It’s one day at a time! The only way out is through! ⭐️

Is this a decent deal for a 2006 Civic?

Looking at buying a 2006 Honda Civic (non-hybrid) with 101k miles, one owner, no accidents and supposedly well maintained. Asking price is $6000.

Is this a decent deal? I don’t know the exact model, but it’s not a hybrid.

How do you pray for your (future) spouse?

Short story: Earlier this year, a priest was praying for me and told me to pray about my vocation. I‘ve been praying for my future spouse (I believe marriage is my vocation) on and off for years, but I’m sure there are additional ways to pray. Lately I’ve been praying for his physical and spiritual protection, and for an increase in his devotion to Jesus.

How do you pray for your future spouse? If you’re married, I’d love to hear from you too!

Edit: I forgot to add that I sometimes offer my Mass intention for my spouse.

How do you practice self kindness?

I've been in ACA almost a year and am noticing some positive changes in myself. I still struggle with many things and often fail at practicing kindness to myself and real (basic) self care, like getting to bed before midnight. What are some ways you practice(d) self kindness on your healing journey?

Pentecost Plans?

Hey All,

Is anyone’s parish or local Catholic community doing anything special for Pentecost this Sunday?! If so, I’d love to hear about it! 🔥
