Go bag
I would like some advice on people's SHTF go bag prep. Im planning on hopefully making a 1 week pack. Ar15 included. Let me know what's in your go bags! Not on a budget. 🙏

I did my first 45-70 reloads yesterday. I did 20, and they were quite accurate at 50yds! Kicked like a SOB. Very pleased. Im relatively new to reloading. I was a little scared how much powder I was adding but I went by the Hodgdon load data And triple checked everything. 350grain hornady round nose, with 47grains of imr 4198. Heres my question, I used a lee dies set, I did measure all my cases to the thousandth, etc. But it turned out that my crimp die was for the hornady brass. So I wasnt able to crimp the standard star line brass. Out of fear of compressing a bullet into the case I tested my 20 loads without loading them into the tube. Instead I loaded each one by hand. I have a standard crimp die coming. But im curious how crucial crimping is for lever actions in general? Any insight? Also I really want to get a chronograph but Im not sure which one to get
Took my 2023 klr on a 350 mile ride through 3 states for a camping trip. Was able to cary absolutley EVERYTHING. Including a wood stove! Haha. She did great, love my klr 🙏 some people have hogs, I have a solid PIG. And proud of it
For the guy telling me its impossible to get 3/4"-1" at 50 yards with a takedown & a red dot
Love my "brn22" takedown 🙏 this thing is very accurate at 50yds. Even using federal automatch out of the volquartsen carbon barrel
As I am sure many of you know SCOTUS has a lot of gun laws on their plate right now. Including nation wide supressor and magazine restriction laws. Friday is their last day or it gets pushed into the fall. But we are potentially talking about supressors being legal in Rhode island, and having our magazine ban lifted. Thoughts on this topic?
So a standard striker fire pistol with a threaded barrel is not considered an AW. Correct? From what im reading the magazine must be located somewhere other than the pistol grip? Inform me guys
What is your go to asian resturant in providence?

Mine is Apsara, everything is good. The Thai wings are crazy good, I have just found that you need to order them for sit down. They are soggy sort of at takeout. And the Thai curry soup is insane and the bbq beef special, pad Thai, but really everything is great. Sitting in there is fun too. It is byob if your into that but they have Thai tea and some great coconut drinks they make too.
What's your favorite pizza in providence and why?

My favorite pizza in providence is twins pizza, the atmosphere is amazing I love the wood paneling and huge fountain sodas and just the absolute VIBE and ALL the food is good. Not just the pizza, they do a sausage and meatball sando with cheese and sauce thats stupid. 🔥 Everyone there is always friendly too. Not a lot of family sit down pizza joints anymore...Gotta hand it to twins. Your doing it. Oh and they had cocktails if your into that.

My favorite pizza in Rhode island (period):is catanzaros in cranston
Its just insanely good. I always get a medium with carmalized onion, sun dried tomato and their homemade meatball. in cranston but basically providence... cmon. 🤣 lol. Yeah catanzaros they are always really nice and the pie is insane. If you havent been you gotta go. If you drink they have a full bar. I just drink sodies myself, but nice family sit down spot too.
Notching the hammer and shimming the bolt worked perfectly. 100 rds in and no light strikes.
I think i figured out the issue. I think, simply that my trigger was hitting the bolt release which was stopping it from fully engaging the firing pin on the bolt itself. I removed some material from the trigger to clear the bolt catch. I will update if this worked tomorrow after the range.
I shimmed my cmmg bolt perfectly but its still light striking, using a regular milspec trigger. Any ideas? Firing pin is clean, system is basically new
Im having some issues with my cmmg 22lr upper, it seems to have some play in the bolt, sometimes it light strikes. There is no buffer tube, instead just a picatinny attachment threaded into the upper for a stock. This is a dedicated cmmg 22lr barrel and bolt on a standard ar15 upper reciever. I have 0 borebuddy parts installed. Can anyone lead me in the right direction here?
Thanks!
I posted yesterday about my 10/22 takedown and finishing it up with a parts list, which I got some really good feedback from. So thanks to everyone for that.
Range trial: granted this was at 25 yards, some people suggested that I had a 4moa setup with a bug buster attached to the receiver, others suggested this was not the gun for a scope in general. After shooting I am inclined to agree. Although when sighted in I was able to get 1 1/2 moa, removing the barrel would throw it off 1" or so every time. Not unmanageable, but deffinetly annoying. I also came to the conclusion that I would primarily be using this at 25 yds. Sometimes 50. So why do I really need a scope anyway. If I can get 1moa with my ar15 at 50yds using only a red dot then I can get that or close to that with this rifle too.
I tried 3 different ammos, cci minimag, wolf match extra, and eley club. Oddly enough the mini mag yielded the best results, probably because of the amplified velocity at 25yds compared to the 1080ish of the eley/wolf. I put 300 rounds (100 each) through it total with the scope.
Today i went ahead and mounted a smaller pistol dot to the handguard. I think this will be more sufficient for this particular rifle.
Thanks to everyone who gave me advice and was intirest enough to comment and share opinions. The 3 photos are a dedicated range trial using cci mini, and a before and after of the rifle with the scope and the newly mounted dot.
I had posted a week ago looking for advice with the volquartsen trigger fitment in the MI chassis system. It was SNUG, but it fit, super high tolerance fit.
Full build:
-Volquartsen 16.5 lightweight barrel
-Volquartsen tg2000 trigger w/ Extended Mag release
-Volquartsen bolt
-Brownells 22tr reciever
-midwest industries chassis and rail
-mdt grip
-magpul ar15 stock
-utg bug buster 3-9 scope w. Cantilever mounts
Tomorrow I will take it to the range to sight it in, and have some fun! Deffinetly excited to try it out. Ill post back with groupings.
Next build will be a full KIDD setup on a standard (non td) 10/22 reciever
Hey yal. I picked up this 10/22 volquartsen bolt. It seems to be older? The new ones have a hex head that keeps the handle on. Anyone know what the story is? Old? Year? Pros? Cons?
Broke in the lothar over the winter, started off with eley club. Did about 1000rds with that over a few weeks, It did okay with that. Roughly 1" to 3/4" groups at 100yds. Initially, I tried using a cortina barrel tuner. I just couldn't get it to work properly. Took it off last month, and got myself a few bricks of sk rifle match. love this barrel now. 5 shot groups at 100yds with sk rifle match last weekend in the photo. Setup is nothing crazy, oryx chassis, very light set timney trigger, shimmed stock bolt and reciever, the lothar w. Barrel I got it from whidden gun works, and athlon argos 6-24x50. Still, this is my favorite gun I have to shoot. Hands down
I am building my first takedown from parts and looking for community advice and experience on fitment. Not new to ruger 10/22s by any means, but I have never built a takedown before.
Parts I have acquired/am currently waiting for:
-Midwest industries takedown rail and chassis
-Volquartsen 2000 trigger, bolt, and carbon barrel
-Brownells td reciever
-Non beavertail mdt grip and a magpul ar stock, other ar furniture
-Still unsure what optic i want to use. Maybe just a dot or a utg bug buster
Anyway, my real question is what sort of fitment modifications have people had to make to fit the volquartsen trigger into the midwest chassis? Some threads I've read people say 0 modifications, others say modifications to the midwest chassis i/e: filing or dremeling the rear of the trigger drop out location on the chassis.
Does anyone have any advice? Or is there anything im missing completely? I have all the tooling needed to do any modifications necessary.
Thanks!
