My first car! 3 months with the Skoda Kylaq Prestige+ | Need advice from fellow owners
My first car! 😄
It’s been about 3 months since I got my Skoda Kylaq Prestige+ (top variant). I shortlisted it in late November, but due to delays (December workshop shutdown, no January dispatches, and the Prestige being renamed to Prestige+ with a 4-year warranty), I finally took delivery around the end of March. I also got PPF done before delivery.(was costly getting it done from Skoda ~85k)
Observations
Bought it from Mody Skoda Andheri. Surprisingly, the car didn’t come with any complimentary accessories like neck pillows, rain guards, etc. Was that the case for you too?
The sales executive didn’t clearly explain the Service & Maintenance Package during the purchase. It was later quoted separately at around ₹43k for a 3-year package, which felt more like an upsell than a transparent discussion upfront. Did others have the same experience?
Mileage concerns
The MID/instrument cluster showed just 3.5 km/l in city driving during the first 3 months. 😭
I usually kept the auto start-stop OFF. With it ON, the MID now shows around 5.5 km/l in Mumbai traffic.
My usage is roughly 50 km/day on 3 weekdays and about 80 km/day on weekends, so fuel costs are adding up quickly.
Questions
Are these MID mileage figures normal for the Kylaq in bumper-to-bumper Mumbai traffic, or should I get the car checked?
Any tips to improve fuel efficiency?
Since I’m new to cars, I started filling Speed/XP fuel, only to later realise it also contains 20% ethanol. Did I just spend ₹9/litre extra for no real benefit, or is there actually an advantage?
