MC-505 Live Set — Recorded Live

Recorded a live set using the Roland MC-505.
No DAW, just the MC-505 and live performance.
Hope you enjoy it!

The JV-series sounds are clear and detailed, but not overly delicate, which made them really easy to use.

MC-505 Groove box live!!!

The MC-505’s sound engine was quite similar to that of the 307, so I found it easy to use since I had used the 307 before; even the effects were virtually identical.

It shared the same quirk as the 303 where sustain would shorten if you programmed too many sequences.

It delivered those classic, user-friendly sounds of the 90s. I also liked being able to adjust parameters like drum pitch and coarse tuning.

MC-505 Groove box live!!!

I repaired my MC-505 and made a song with it.

The MC-505's sound source is similar to the MC-307's, and apparently it's part of the Roland JV series.

Newer sound sources sound too delicate, giving the impression of a thin and weak sound.
Perhaps 1998 was the peak in a sense.

model d + drum

I tried playing this using a Model D synth and drum loops. The tempo isn't synchronized.

Behringer Model D

I synchronized the DR-110 with the Model D using analog clock synchronization.

The master tempo is controlled by the DR, and I'm using Arturia's Keystep as the sequencer.
