My wife and I have been doing a project were calling 'Avid Field Enthusiasts'. It's a style of IDM that is a bit more introspective and atmospheric.
We do many styles of experimental electronic music, from aggressive jungle and breakcore, to nostalgic sounding electronic lullabies.
But for 'Avid Field Enthusiasts', we are focusing more on introspective, thought provoking melodies and tonalities, finely diced percussion, and maybe a little bit of nostalgia thrown in for good measure.
For this piece, we attempted to mix the sound of old classical/chamber music, with some minor plunderphonics, and some breaks.
Cheers to you from Delco PA!!
Roland heiroglyphics deciphered
Thought I'd share this little guide sheet for Roland's AIRA range and some of their Boutique range. Might come in handy if you're new to them.
Skins for p6 (besides for cremacaffe) ?
Not sure if this question is asked ad nauseum but does any company make skins for the P6?
No shade to Cremacaffe but I can’t rock with the prices, trying to find other outlets for p6 skins.
What's The 404
What up everybody? I just wanted to introduce myself. I've been in this community for quite a bit of time. Unfortunately I haven't posted a lot in here but I definitely its time for that to change. I started a series off of my 404 called "What's The 404" and I wanted to at least share it in here. I hope you all enjoy it.
In this video I cover the evolution of the 404 from the OG to the MK2. If there is anything I'm missing please feel free to comment on it and let me know. If you learned something new, feel free to share that as well. Im a gear head and I love talking about gear and learning about it.
The 404 is my main piece of gear for performing but it's also the center piece to this whole entire series. I thought yall might be interested. What's The 404 Ep. 1: The Evolution of The SP-404

Roland RDH 102A V-Drum: any way to separate the beaters?
I've just bought this double bass pedal, but since I'm using an e-drums set at home, I changed the beaters in my old pedals by ones that are less noisy. They are wider (a full circle) and have some kind of foam on it so the noise is even lower.
However, even though I'm seeing that the beater has the typical screw to be able to change its angle and move it across the axis, I'm unable to move it so I can separate the two beaters and be able to use mine. Right now, if I put mine, both hit each other and I cannot use them at the same time.
This is the only way I can use them at the same time, right now, which is not very convenient
Is there any way to be able to move one of the beaters across the axis (as it seems I should be able to do since I see the screw is there)? Or the screw is there but it's completely useless and I cannot move them, so I cannot use my Meinl beaters with this pedal?
I find it difficult to believe that a brand like Roland does not let me to change my beaters by others that are wider than what they expect to.
Thank you!
Star Fox 64 Roland MC101 Cover - my first thing made after a couple days of owning
Have owned this little box for about a week or so now, and after a couple of days of owning, I felt ready to make my first song on it - the menu theme from Star Fox 64. Enjoy, and do some barrel rolls!
(GUIDE) How to see all variables in a JD-08 Patch
(Instructions current as of 5/18/2026)
Do you want to see what values all the variables in a JD-08 patch are?
First things first, you need to get the SVD file, which is where all the patch data on your JD-08 are stored.
u/KulshanStudios has an excellent video about how to do this https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=thogVrRe2jY
For this guide, just follow the instructions up to the 1:37 second mark.
Next, you will need to install Python,
I am using Windows 10, as of this writing, go to this link
https://www.python.org/downloads/windows/
and click the topmost 'Download Windows Installer'
(Disclaimer, these are the settings that worked for me, they may or may not be necessary)
Click the checkbox for PATH and the checkbox for admin privileges and then install, when asked later about a 260 character path limit, click agree to change.
You might need to restart your PC at this point.
Now go to https://github.com/NilsKr/JD08PatchManager and click the green button titled 'code' and download zip.
Extract the zip to a folder, wherever you like though for sake of this discussion, if you have a secondary hard drive, unzip it to a folder on the root of that drive (not sure to what extent this makes a difference, it's just how I did it).
Put the SVD file you took from the JD-08 earlier and put it in the same folder as the JD-08 patch manager
Double click patchmanager dot py.
For the scope of this guide, you just need one svd file, click the buttons with three dots and in both instances, select the SVD file you took from the JD-08.
In the left field, select the patch that you want to look at. In the right field, for the sake of this guide, select any other patch, it makes no difference.
A new window labeled Patch Comparison should open up and the list on the left will have every value for every variable in the patch.
DISCLAIMER: As of 5/18/2026 the creator of the JD-08 Patch Manager hasn't verified with absolute certainty that every label for every variable is 100% accurate as they do not themselves own a JD-08 and can't verify it themselves. Speaking just for myself, at a glance, the labels do seem to be accurate but beware of possible discrepancies.
SPECIAL THANKS TO u/nkronert FOR MAKING THE JD-08 PATCH MANAGER AND FOR THEIR ATTENTION AND ASSISTANCE VIA EMAIL TO THIS MATTER!

MC101 and Midi Keyboard setup
So got a question regarding the MC101 and keyboard setup - is there a minimalist way of hooking in a small 25 key midi keyboard (Specifically the Arturia Microlab that powers/gets data over USBC) up to the MC101? Or would I still need any other gear to make this happen? My initial thought was trying a USBA to USBC adapter, and then doing the USB-B from the 101 over to USBC on my Microlab. No idea if that would work and I know trying to do USBC midi to my Roland S1 to the Microlab was a no-go.
Ideally, this would be an "on the go" setup and not having to go through my PC and DAW to make this happen. Would be nice to have an extra octave when sequencing notes.
Siser ColorPrint Easy HTV Banding issues with Roland VG2-540
Hi all, I’m wanting to get into printing some shirts but I’ve run into some issues printing on HTV and seeing banding occur, even though my regular sticker printing has been fine. Here’s a list of things I’ve tried but still haven’t resolved the issue. Thanks to anyone that reads all of this, it’s driving me crazy! Any tips or recommendations would be greatly appreciated.
Printer: Roland TrueVIS VG2-540
Media: Siser EasyColor printable HTV
Head height: low
Banding is visible even from ~2–3 feet away under normal room lighting
Normal sticker/vinyl output on the Roland has been printing fine recently
Things I’ve already tried:
Standard 10p
Standard 12p
High Quality 13p
High Quality 16p
Uni-directional printing
Bi-directional printing
Error Diffusion
Dither
True Rich Color
True Rich Color Soft
PET Film profile
Generic Heat Transfer profile
Regular sticker/vinyl profile
Lowering heater temps
Feed adjustment calibration at:
-0.05
0.00
+0.05
Shrinking artwork size
Testing different artwork with less solid fill
Manual printhead cleaning
Nozzle check (mostly clean, only tiny minor inconsistencies)
Other notes:
PET Film profile seemed slightly better than other profiles, but banding was still clearly visible
Smaller graphics look cleaner; larger smooth fills show the issue much more
Colors like purple/blue seem to reveal the banding worst
Cyan ink is somewhat low, but not empty
Prints are dry immediately after printing (doesn’t appear to be wet ink smearing)
Feed calibration changes did not meaningfully affect the banding
Increasing passes beyond 12p did not meaningfully improve output
The issue seems specific to printable HTV/transfer media rather than general printer quality
Roland JD-08 Editor by Jimdo, what can't it do?
I recently got a Roland JD-08 and have gotten interested in programming it so I bought the Jimdo Roland JD-08 editor because I like the idea of an entire patch's variable being visible on screen all at once (I'm not a big fan of menu diving).
But I also read that because of midi implementation issues, it can't change every single variable in a Roland JD-08 patch but the information on what specifically it can't do is scattered. Is there a single place that the editor's limitations are spelled out?
Also, something I haven't found a straight answer to but how do I get a selected patch on the JD-08 to transmit from the hardware to the editor, when connected?
Sidenote, just an opinion but I think Roland should make editors like this for all their boutique hardware since that would help give people a convenient big interface option for dealing with the boutique's small form factor.
