bought it for like 60 usd, did not know it would come with original box and all the stuff so that was a nice surprise
its quite different than what was pictured in the listing, its so bad that it becomes good due to how funny it is
so i bought a ps4 ( model is CUH-1003A ) and it sounded like a fax machine when disc were inserted and ejected, it worked just fine and read games but it annoyed me so i opened it up and cleaned the disc drive ( disc drive model is KEM-860 )
after said cleaning the disc drive no longer took games, eject button does not work either.
all i did was take the disc drive out and cleaned the rubber rollers and brushed it for dust, i did not dismantle any of the parts.
i opened it up more ( carefully ) and i found a random small black spring stuck to the magnet in the disc drive, removed it and tried again, and still dead.
i have now checked every ribbon cable with a multimeter, inspected for damage and those are all fine, checked all fuses i could find and they are also all fine, also checked everything is connected properly and they all are.
the daughter board does have power, i checked with multimeter in various spots and found nothing wrong or missing, the chips on the daughter board do get warm when the console is powered on for a while.
the random spring i found seems to belong to the manual eject cogwheel, even after placing it back it still did not work, manually inserting and ejecting discs do work using said cogwheel on the side but the console does not read or react to the disc being inside fully.
i have checked the 3 switches on the back and they are also good and behave correctly, all plastic parts do what they are meant to do and no signs of weird behavior or damage.
there is no sound, or signs of life at all anywhere in the disc drive system.
i have spent so many hours on this, dismantled said disc drive 10+ times and tested it non stop, watched 7 or 8 videos about the disc drive, and read so many articles, guides and looked at so many pictures of the disc drive and console itself.
can someone please help me out?
first time seeing a blue N64 cartridge, why even that color? it looks so weird
the PAL version isn't blue and does not even match with the game i think
found this mod in an n64 i worked on today, assumed maybe it was just some kind of audio mod for some reason due to the headphone jack plug but when i opened it up i was even more confused
seems to be quite cheaply or poorly done due to the amount of tape and bits of glue i found, and for some reason it also had standard AA batteries connected to it, when i cleaned the mod board i smelt pine sap which means pine or similar sap was used for soldering, idk if that info does any help
the console works fine, no issues that i could find when testing it
its also got "RA56" or something like that written above the AV port in black marker on the shell itself
can someone tell me what this mod is? and what it does? and just why? the standard batteries is what confuses me the most

got a motherboard for a SNES for free from work due to it being corroded and damaged, i desoldered some of the bad parts and the pin connector but it was badly corroded on some of the pins and they snapped off and now pretty stuck
im also struggling with clearing the holes in general ( always struggled with that in general )
its quite weak on some areas and i dont wanna risk burning pads or damaging it more, already ripped a pad off one of the SMD caps and damaged 2 other pads
any tips on how i should do this?
