First Packout

Unless you count Shockwave kits, this is officially my first Packout!

Picked it specifically to fit my m12 brushed 3/8in ratchet, and the m12 gen3 also fitting is just a cherry on top.

I only keep kreg screws with my automotive tools because I use the gen3 for automotive + woodworking but like having fasteners nearby to the tool that uses them.

Gonna pick up the metric 1/4” & 3/8” drive socket inserts for the slim Packout in a few weeks but I’m “getting by just fine” with my Stanley CRV impact set for now 🙄

Still working on a way to store the 24” Breaker Bar, Torque Wrench, 18” and 24” Pry Bars but they’re okay loose in the truck for now.

Summerland is burning now

Faulder is gone, Summerland is next. The fire has moved all of the way down Cartwright. Final image not my own.

2.5GT secured

A boyhood dream of mine was to have the 2.5GT wagon in my driveway, and here I am 2 decades later :)

Tapped out at 1x 12” Lag Bolt

I am shocked and amazed that it managed to drive an entire lag into this Doug Fir.

I pre-drilled 1/16” smaller pilot hole than the lag thread diameter for good bite and the 1/4” m12 impact surprisingly got a full bolt down to the washers before begrudgingly calling it quits.

God himself was beckoning me today

I suppose the conditions were as nominal as they could possibly have been, because the best I’ve been able to squeeze out of the S210P so far has been ‘125’…

My speedometer, I’ve noticed, is roughly 10% off according to speed radar signs.

I’m both impressed and terrified!

Pray for me

I’m hoping this fixed my compression issue. Putting it out into the universe that this worked!

Have to wait 24 hours for the threadlocker to cure.

Part 1 of removing the EF-SE from my 2000 S210P Hijet

This afternoon was spent removing the bed in order to prep for the engine-out service that I’ll have to do this coming week.

Plenty of stuff attached to the bed itself, but the most memorable that I encountered were:

- 10mm bolt behind rear license plate the removes the connection to the spare tire carrier
- shim-style retainer clips holding the of the parking brake cable ‘Y’ splitter in tension
- three 12mm bolts attaching each forward bedside step to the back of the cab, acting as a gusset
- plenty of zip-tie-style cable ties, clip connectors (brittle after 26 years!), and harness clips
- one of the vacuum lines leading to T-Case was run through the parking brake splitter’s carrier, so I snapped the line while removing it to feed
- I had to use a cutoff disc on three of the bolt heads up top/front because the previous owner painted over them sloppily and they additionally corroded into place (I’ll have to drill out and re-tap these)

I’ll be doing a gasket service kit, water pump and timing belt, replacing all vacuum lines, spark plugs, ignition coils, fluids and filters while it’s on the stand.

Undercoating and bedlining are also on the shortlist

Rebuild advice/torque specs?

Has anybody done either an engine-out or head removal job on their ‘99-or-newer Hijet?

My s210p Hijet started misfiring this weekend and it appears that the previous owner had a spark plug helicoil installed in Cyl-2…

I’ll be pulling the head asap and likely to be machining a new plug hole, but I can’t seem to find torque specs for the head bolts anywhere.

Anybody done a head gasket, know the torque specs or have any words of encouragement?

Without a Paddle

Brought 3 kayaks and 2 paddle boards back to base today, but had to make a second trip for the final 3rd board. Decided to take the Kei for the last leg.
