507 Pro Max

Holosun has a pinned post on Instagram from three weeks ago, advertising that they started shipping these models. I assume this means they started shipping to stores in order to sell, but no store has made them available. Every gun store/FFL I'm close with has zero knowledge about receiving any units.

I bought a gun for competition and have it sitting waiting for this... just curious if anyone has heard anything or knows when they might become available.

What is the value in shooting matches faster than your skill allows?

Title.

I've heard from some top-level shooters that earlier in their shooting career, they'd shoot matches, for months, faster than their skill/eyes allowed and totally ignoring their score. The idea being that, gradually, you subconsciously adjust to that level of speed, your eyes eventually catch up, etc etc, and then you bring back the accuracy/match mode.

I guess what I'm wondering is, what exactly is the motivation each match during this time? Do you try to raw time champ it, and that's it...? Is there any particular thing for each match/stage that you're trying to do or train?

PDP SF with Carnivore holster

Long story short, I've shot polymer guns in a Carey Concealment X1 Raptor for years. I've run into some issues of the gun sticking in the holster and messing up my draw... my fix was to remove the magnet retention. This has been 100% fine, but obviously the gun has no retention and I have to be careful when pasting targets, for example, that my gun doesn't fall out. Never been an issue.

However, I'm swapping to the PDP SF platform for the 2027 season and buying gear to start training with it. With the heavier gun I am not as willing to go with the X1 if I have to remove the retention. I've been looking at the Carnivore holster and I'm wondering if there's any issues with it with the PDP SF in particular. I've seen some posts with 2011 problems but overall seems to be positive. Just curious on any experiences with this holsters, and especially how it compares to the X1 Raptor if you also have that experience.

How are these scores possible?

https://preview.redd.it/v5w2nva2dtdh1.png?width=1125&format=png&auto=webp&s=a5953116c202df34114f2ba35aed6a6da33337ec

Pretty much just the title... I am not accusing anyone of anything, I am just curious how this is possible? Multiple 100.0000% classifiers on record, some recently. My immediate thought is cheating, but it seems too blatant for anyone to try? So what else could cause this?

I also assumed that maybe classifers used to not go above 100%, but there is a major match since 2025 where they also shot 100.0000%. Just curious is all, never seen it before

As the screenshot shows, I bought the Unheard addition on Steam, yet it does not update on the BSG launcher or in-game. Any ideas?

How to stay up-to-date on major matches?

I live in the northeast and have been shooting seriously for ~18 months now. Recently hit M in LO and CO and have a renewed interest in shooting major matches. This year, I was late to every one. I was able to sneak into one major but basically nothing else. In 2027, I really want to shoot a few majors and have my training revolve around that.

My problem is I have no idea how to figure out details on these matches until it's too late. Where are yall keeping up to date on majors throughout the year? Is it just constantly checking until a registration date is posted? Is there a website? If it's a function on PractiScore, can you drop the intel?

I feel like I'm missing something obvious but don't know what.

Hwansik Kim Vision Focus & Mastery... worth it?

Pretty much just the title. I have the opportunity to attend a local class he's running (Vision Focus & Mastery) and I'm wondering how worth it it would be.

  • It's indoors
  • It's ~$1,500 + ammo
  • I'm already CO & LO M
  • I'm at the point where I want a lot of live reps & movement in any classes I take.
  • I took a Ben Stoeger and Joel Park class and was pretty underwhelmed compared to some classes that local GMs put on. Too many people in the class and just wasnt enough reps/feedback to be useful for me.

Anyone take these courses? Vision Focus and/or Mastery?

Commit to Glock or move on?

Living in Maryland, I have about ~4 months to buy any more Glocks. I currently shoot a 47 pretty well (went from B to high M with it), but it's heavily modified. Brass plug, tungsten rod, permanent carbide for the grip & mag release, aftermarket trigger and parts/springs (all within reason to maintain reliability - have had one (!) magazine related malfunction in ~15,000 rounds).

My current dilemma is that I wanted to buy an additional Glock 47 to use as a match gun, but the above "upgrades" I've done have kinda been putting me off Glock in general. My current 47 feels great (only trigger and grip is to be desired) but it feels frankensteined. I'm questioning whether it's worth it to buy into Glock more, or swap to something that is more "out of the box". If I will want to spend ~$400 on accessories on a Glock, is it worth it? Especially since I wont be able to buy Glocks at all after December?

The additional problem? Gen 5 Glock 47s are becoming very, very difficult to get in Maryland due to retailers not shipping them, and LGS almost universally choosing to stock/sell the Gen 6. So the additional layer to this is that I likely wouldn't be buying a backup Gen 5 G47, I would be buying a Gen 6 G17.

  • Walther PDP... I was in the store the other day to check out some alternatives, and I was really feeling the SF PDP Match, aside from the grip, which I can just carbide or replace. The pro trigger feels really, really good, but I am hearing mixed messages about PDPs in general. One guy whose opinion I respect scoffed at the idea of swapping to the PDP. I also personally know half a dozen people in my area who have swapped from PDPs to Glock. I've also heard replacement parts are difficult to get ahold of. Any experiences with PDPs would be welcome.
  • Shadow 2... I shot the Shadow 2 for half of last season and experienced too many malfunctions. I could have had a lemon, but it's kind of put me off of the Shadow 2 platform. A few of the guys in my area who shoot them all chose to have the barrel reamed which I just do not want to do. I also did not love the
  • 2011s... not the biggest fan PLUS I'm planning on buying an Atlas next year. I'll get there eventually lol... Focused on shooting CO and striker fire guns at the moment.
  • Canik... not a fan.
  • S&W M&P... seems like a good option, I do like them. However, I feel like they run into the same problem as Glock. I would almost certainly want to get an Apex trigger and fitted barrel. I would still consider this, though.
  • Glock... nut up and just buy a couple?
  • Anything else?

What "ecosystem" would you buy into if you were me? I'm looking for a platform to invest in. It was going to be Glock, but I am not sure I'm confident doing that anymore with my state banning them.

Explain "Most recent override"

I've long accepted that this is how it is lol, but I can't help but be a little peeved checking it again today. Can someone explain the most recent override designation? It seems pretty lame that I can shoot the same classifier a week apart, at clubs on opposite sides of my state, and only one of them counts.

I would totally understand if it were within the same update period (Wednesday-Wednesday), or at the same club, but I feel like I'm being punished, for lack of a better term, because clubs 50 miles apart weren't coordinating which classifier they wanted to run that month.

Does this "M" flag only extend to your 8 classifiers that the system looks at? For example, what if I shoot a 6-stage classifier match next week and 25-03 is on there? Does my 5/02/26 score just disappear, even though it was over a month ago?

Clear DQ - didn't call it

This past week I was RO'ing a stage ~three weeks after passing my RO exam. I had someone clearly DQ themselves by pulling their gun out before the "make ready" signal. To make it worse, the MD was a few feet behind the shooter, fixing a fault line for the stage. I kinda paused after telling the shooter to stop and, in my head, I was truly 50/50 on DQ'ing or warning him. I stopped everything, made sure everything was safe, and I kinda motioned to the MD to make sure we were good to go - he saw everything, so I was essentially giving him the opportunity to override me. We went back through the range commands and when he finished shooting, myself and a couple others explained the situation, explained that it was a warning, etc. Walked up to the MD and even asked if he was okay that I didn't call it, and he seemed chill with it. Not that it matters much, but this is an indoor, more casual leaning match.

This was the first time I've been confronted with a situation like that, and I actually kinda regret not DQ'ing him for such an obvious self-DQ. I think I just felt bad for him...? Maybe that I didn't want to ruin the vibe of the match...? And since I didn't immediately DQ him, maybe I felt pigeon held into the warning? Idk. That's on me, though, and a learning experience.

I guess I'm wondering what thoughts might be on this. Was this an appropriate non-call given the circumstances/my own discretion? Should this always be called, with no nuance? I'm kinda leaning towards the latter upon reflection. As a new RO, I'm trying to learn and get comfortable with where that line is... where discretion is allowed, versus something must be called.

Firing Pin keeps getting stuck forward

Hi -

Bought a brand new MPA DS9 LOC v2, threw some lube in it, and took it to the range. Thing didn't last 50 rounds before seizing up due to the firing pin being stuck forward. I took it home, disassembled/cleaned it, and things seemed to be okay. I had emailed MPA and they were fantastic in overnighting me a new firing pin as they thought it was bent and getting stuck in the channel as a result.

Took it to the range last night with the new firing pin, and it handled ~300 rounds perfectly fine. Took it home, cleaned it for a match this weekend, and upon assembling it, I dry fired it a couple times, and it happened again. The retaining plate is actually sliding upwards a little bit and blocking the firing pin from getting back to its resting position - effectively pinning it forward. I fixed it by using my finger to lightly slide the plate back down into position, and I was seemingly able to recreate the issue for a few trigger pulls by dry firing the trigger on reset. Basically I would pull the trigger & hold, rack the slide, and upon racking the slide the plate would come out of place by sliding upward. I was able to recreate this about 5 times in a row and then nothing after that. It's back to acting normally.

Has anyone experienced this, or something like it? Does the retaining plate just need to be replaced with something fit more tightly? While it seems to be fixed, I actually have no idea and it's not really a good mindset to go into a match with.
