How many here adhere to a strict “native plants only” philosophy?

Or is non-native ok as long as it benefits native pollinators?

I want to plant some Sweet Woodruff in a moist, low spot, in my yard, but it’s not native to 5b in N.America. Thoughts?

Multifunctional airline carrier?

I travel very light using the r/onebag philosophy. I plan to take my small, 16lb, dog with me on my next trip to Mexico from the US.

I am in search of a multifunctional, underseat, airline approved carrier that can possibly serve as a backpack, too, when not flying.

I’ve ordered several from Amazon that I’ve returned because they really don’t look very sturdy.

Ideas?

No response from supervisor

I am a new employee. During orientation, the supervisor said, “Everything you need to know about this job is in these 3 apps. Download them and use them to answer your questions.”

Well, after thoroughly reading every section of all three apps, I had a few questions. I texted this guy and … never heard back from him. I texted again 3 days later, he finally replied. I had another question. Same thing happened only it’s been 5 days and still no answer.

I’m think going to quit. I worked one shift. I’ve never experienced such shoddy communication at any company. No wonder it has such high turnover.

Buy a beater car or drive my own?

Spouse and I have spent some time in Mexico and love it! We are snow birds and want to spend three months in the Yucatan and a few other well-known smaller cities.

We will be bringing our small dog. We have nobody to leave her with for three months.

Our options include:

  1. Rent a car which will be expensive.
  2. Public transportation but that can be tricky with a small dog.
  3. Drive our own car from the USA.
  4. Buy a beater (still researching legalities) car to drive while in Mexico and sell or give it away upon departure.

We’ve been to Mexico several times never for that long nor with a car. We’ve are also plan to only drive major roads and drive during the day.

Any recommendations? Thanks!

Healthcare provider for gut health?

I am looking for a healthcare provider that specializes (or is willing to take the time to help) in healing the gut biome.

Gastritis is the basis for many of my current health issues. I am not familiar with functional medicine providers but more than willing, at this point, to see anyone.

I live in Delaware but willing to go anywhere north of 70 if I can find someone good.

Italy in January for a base location?

Spouse and I (Americans) pick a different region of the world to spend January through May every year. We are retired, budget-minded, slow-travelers who like to spend a chunk of time in one location, move on if we want, or stay if we like it. We have a small dog.

This winter we are considering Italy, the Balkans, and possibly Northern Africa (Tunisia, Morocco, Senegal). Not every country. Just go where it looks promising at the time.

Flights to Italy in January are significantly reduced from the USA to Italy. Would it be a good decision to fly in to Italy (Naples or south of there) and move around the region from there? Or should we bite the bullet and fly to Senegal or Tunisia which would be a lot more expensive and travel north from there? What are the major airlines of that area, and does it have a major airline hub in the area. I know ferries are prominent but could be rough that time of year.

What were the first things you did when you got home from service?

Did you sign up for Medicare? Buy a car? Rent an apartment? Get the first job you could find?

I love this sub.

That is all.

I feel like I am at a party filled with really interesting people. No cell phones or social media. I enjoy remembering. Thank you. 😊
