Hurricane Window Protection Help

Hello! I'm trying to prepare my house for the upcoming Atlantic hurricane season. My recently purchased house doesn't have any type of window protection.

I unfortunately don't have recessed windows, so I won't be able to use hurricane window clips.

What is a cheap & easy solution for window protection? I Ideally wanted to do plywood and hurricane window clips.

Thank you!

'26 Hybrid SE. What Oil & Filter to Use?

Hi! My 2026 Corolla Hybrid SE just hit 500 miles. I plan to do an oil change at 500, 1000, and 5,000 miles.

My owners manual and oil cap both say to use SAE 0W-16.

What oil and filters do y'all use? What is best?

1st Smoked Pulled Pork! 😋

I smoked my first pulled pork today! 😊 I'm very happy with how it turned out. Detailed steps and materials below! This was made on a Weber 22" Master Touch grill. It took me about 10 hours start to finish (6lb Boston Butt).

Grill: Weber 22" Master Touch

Insert 1: SnS Grills Slow N' Sear Original Charcoal Basket

Insert 2: SnS Grills Drip N' Griddle Pan

Insert 3: SnS Grills Easy Spin 22" Grate

Cart: BBQMall Grill Table

Cover: BBQMall Cart Table Cover

Controller: Spider Grills Venom

Seasoning 1: Meat Church The Gospel

Seasoning 2: Meat Church Honey Hog BBQ

Binder: Yellow Mustard

Charcoal: B&B Competition

Wood: Hickory

Instructions:

  1. Defrost butt in fridge (if needed).

  2. Pat butt dry with paper towel.

  3. Score fat cap (optional).

  4. Apply binder to butt.

  5. Liberally apply seasoning 1 to butt.

  6. Rest/Sweat butt for 45 minutes.

  7. Preheat Grill to 275° F.

  8. Insert temperature probe into butt.

  9. Put butt onto grill (indirect heat).

  10. Wait until butt hits 160° F internal.

  11. Move butt into roasting pan.

  12. Add apple juice, halved onion & apple to pan.

  13. Liberally apply seasoning 2 to butt.

  14. Put stick of salted butter onto butt.

  15. Cover roasting pan with aluminum foil.

  16. Put pan in oven at 275° F.

  17. Remove from oven once 200° F internal.

  18. Rest in covered roasting pan for 2 hours.

  19. Eat the butt. 😋

IMPORTANT: While butt is in grill and oven, do not open to check it! Spraying is not needing and will actually hurt it!

General timing for each section:

Rest/Sweat (45 Minutes)

Smoking (5 Hours)

Oven (1.5 Hours)

Final Rest (2 hours)

Total: ~10 hours

Hi! I'm getting an irrigation system installed on my property. Turns out my neighbor literally behind me owns an irrigation company! He's offering me a stellar neighbor discount.

4 zones (2 front, 1 side, 1 back)

10k sq foot coverage (haven't confirmed head to head yet)

Includes backflow preventer

Includes Hunter X2 Controller

All for $3,000

He's working on the design for it. So I may have further questions once I get it.

He's offered getting a Hunter X2 controller. From my research, this is just a timed wifi controller.

I want to get a smart controller that is wifi compatible. Minimum 4 zones. But 6 would be ideal. I would like it to account for temperature and weather.

ChatGPT recommended Rachio 3 and Hunter Hydrawise (Pro-HC / HPC Series).

Which do y'all use and recommend?

Hi! I'm designing a DIY sprinkler system. I'm pretty confident that the backyard and side yard are correct.

Could I please get someone's help positioning sprinklers at the front of the house? Thank you. 🥺
