Would anyone be willing to review my personal statement?
I wrote my personal statement about an event I tried to organize and how I grew from it. My school's councelor is currently on vacation so I don't have anyone to ask.

So my college councelor is currently on vacation and therefore she can't read it. Please give me feedback on this. It is still a draft so I am not sure how to move on from here:
And sent – I looked at my screen for a few more moments staring at the undo button Gmail offers, until it disappeared. For the first time I had exposed myself to other people in sharing my ideas.
A while back I wanted to try my luck in research, and participate in ISEF, the international science and engineering fair. But when I tried to see what the requirements are to sign up, I realized that Greece doesn’t offer a qualifying round, leaving me with the only option of going to another country to participate. So I did the opposite, I tried to build one myself.
So I started sending emails to non-profits in my city, something I had never done before. The whole pitching an idea part seemed off – it felt really weird and stressful. I mean why would they invest their energy and time in what a sixteen-year-old had to say. But I still tried it out thinking what’s the worst that can happen.
This whole process of sending emails, replying to their “This is interesting” or “We will get back to you”, and sending follow-ups lasted for two months, until I got a phone call. I picked up and it was the founder of an NGO called Eduact. Needless to say, I was panicking throughout the whole interaction, but thankfully he saw through my anxious and agitated replies and requested we schedule a meeting for next week.
I was genuinely so excited that the same night I opened an empty document and didn’t close my laptop until the proposal felt worthy of the opportunity. I prepared everything I could think of – rough costs, sent a survey to a few schools, found some possible volunteers – so I was pretty confident about the meeting. When that day arrived however, and I had to visit their office, all that confidence went right out the window.
I wasn’t really that much of a speaker, I didn’t do well in public speeches, and when the time came that I had to put to use my immature and under-developed communication skills it was nerve-racking. The opening I had practiced so many times just disappeared from my mind and I was struggling to think of what to say. What if they rejected me? What if this project would never flourish, all because of my inability to express myself? Needless to say I was surprised when they actually seemed supportive. They even assigned me to a team and we got straight to work.
A few months passed, and we were progressing a lot. We were communicating with ISEF on a weekly basis, and had almost completed our list of researcher volunteers for the judging committee. All went well, until we asked specifically for permission to affiliate the fair. And we were turned down. I was crushed. I spent so much time working towards this goal that I didn’t end up achieving. Thankfully, I was working on my music at that time pulling me away from this feeling of loss and failure.
Now it’s been a couple months, and I have come to appreciate this whole experience. I went from being scared to send an email asking a simple question, to reaching out to professors on a daily basis without a second thought. The confidence I gained, however, didn’t just involve sending emails. I created a YouTube channel where I expose myself to thousands of people every day. This whole experience even enabled me to pursue things that I truly care about, while ignoring what other people say I can and can’t do, like music which has always been a big part of my life.
Hey, so I am currently a rising senior in Greece, so my timezone is EEST. I unfortunately do not have the funds to cover expensive lessons or multiple ones every week. However, I believe I can cover at least one a week!!
My current goals are to improve my technique to sing without any tension and in general achieve a better tone.
Thank you very much!
I have been singing for about 2 years now but I struggle with my throat closing and in general feeling pain there. It is not something that usually happens to me, and it only started this past month. I believe it's due to me not having developed that good of a technique in addition to suddenly increase the duration, level, and range of what I sing.
If you guys have any like exercises I could do or any advice in general I would be pleased to take a shot at it.
Hey so I'm an international student from Greece that is asking for aid (Tuition, my family can afford the rest). I know its still brutal. Anyways:
I plan to apply for Music (Music production and business). I know my CV is mainly focused on STEM but I went through a change of heart this past year.
Academics:
1510 SAT super score(740 reading 770 math), 8 ielts, 19.5/20 grades (no aps or ib classes offered at my school.
ECS:
I have a youtube channel were I post covers of songs and other original songs (Currently I have 22k views but if I keep going like this I believe I can reach at least 50k by ed1).
I am part of a local music group and we perform 4-5 times a year to a crowd of about 100-200 people.
i am currently preparing for RockSchool Vocals Grade 6 (It caps at 8, and I am also awarded UCAS points if I decide to go to the UK!!).
I am learning production and am working on a couple of songs at the moment and I hope to be done with at least 5 for my portfolios.
I have done an entomology research internship at a USDA lab (just 3 weeks) where I actually participated in research. I was responsible for dissecting a large sum of the samples of mosquitos we received which were then scanned under a machine called PCR to look for RNA of West Nyle Virus.
I placed 20th (tied for 19th) nationally (greece) on the chemistry olympiad
I did a 2 month internship at a local microbiology lab(non research cause people often confuse it) where I was repsonsible for running the blood exams and we roughly had 10-15 patients a day for 4 days a week.
I plan to apply:
NYU Clive Ed1 (I think I qualify for NYU Promise so if I get admitted I can get aid)
Umiami Ea
Fordham Ea
Drexel Ea
American University Ea
my regular decision list has not been finalized yet but it should include:
Vanderbilt
Brown
and a few safeties
Right now NYU and Umiami are my top choices so I hope I get in
