If you don't know, BlazBlue Alternative: Dark War was a Japanese-exclusive gacha game that was supposed to be the canon sequel to Central Fiction's story. Its development and life were full of problems, so its servers unfortunately died less than a year after release. Even still, it was able to provide interesting story tidbits like more characterization for Kazuma (see the Snake Sheet if you don't know who that is) and Nu renaming herself Juusan after waking up from being a vegetable. It even got to collaborate with Granblue Fantasy.

ENVY, who has also worked on other projects like the matchmaking website BlazQueue and the general BBCF Discord's ranked matchmaking system, has blessed us with a playable offline version of the game with everything unlocked. All you need is either an Android emulator like BlueStacks or an Android phone. A guide on how to run the game is included in the download.

The game is in Japanese, but the wiki has gameplay guides, and a little birdie told me that someone is working on translating it. Make sure to check out its opening and the translation of a canon short story that was released as a prologue, too.

I'm personally hoping that Terumi also becomes a boss since Hazama stole his meter gimmick. I don't think the developers can get away with Terumi DLC from a casual perspective, either, since Hazama is already DLC.

The version done in the super even has the big ol' energy line!

Sadly, I think this is the only BlazBlue reference he has in his moveset. Both Magneto and Ms. Marvel have Jesus Kicks as their 5M, though.

Do they interact with each other? Not really

Do I think they'd be buddies if they talked to each other a few times? Yes

The manga is Chimelical Complex.

This is a reminder that Ragna was losing it before and probably during Calamity Trigger.

This is due to both XBlaze games being rated M.

Touya only says it twice and Ringo only says it once, but Mei and Ripper are decently big fans of it (these two also swear a lot in general).

Two random commenters on TOi also say it, and I believe kid Nine also thinks it to herself.

Let it be known that a 15-year-old girl says fuck way more than Ragna, a probably-20-something-year-old terrorist who swears like a sailor, and Terumi, who's basically BlazBlue Satan.

Jin also says it in BlazBlue: Official Comics Vol. 1, a comedy manga and the only BlazBlue book to ever be officially translated, but it's kinda cut off and probably not canon, so I dunno if it counts.

Just realized nobody ever posted it, so might as well do it now.

This was a preorder bonus for the PSP version of Calamity Trigger.

It's titled the BlazBlue Fan Disc Tsundere CD, but I honestly don't really see that much "dere" in them...

There exist a number of Material Collection books, which are databooks that also feature early concept art and production notes for characters. One notable one is Genesis of the Azure Flame, which was exclusively sold at Comiket 80. It has exclusive info about Calamity Trigger, Continuum Shift, and the Phase Shift light novels.

Leo Blackpain, the guy in the centre-right, is a Ragna concept that I want to spotlight specifically because of Mori's comment about him. Mori notes that he liked Leo a lot, but Guilty Gear 2: Overture was in development and he got shown Sin's design by Daisuke, so the amount of overlap scrapped him. The concept in the bottom-centre was also given a name: Scythe.

Fun Fact: On a previous page, Mori notes that he wanted to give his protagonist an eyepatch, which evolved into Ragna's heterochromia. Really makes you think when it comes to that art Mori has been drawing after leaving ArcSys...

Ever thought the Carnage Scissors hitbox on Dustloop looked janky? That's because it doesn't show the animation beforehand. It probably doesn't help that the animation is so fast in-game that you usually miss the slash, though.

P.S. Ragna's sword extends during Carnage Scissors, and you can hear it extend and retract (although the former is pretty quiet).
