I still gawk at this finish. Still a bit of a honeymoon phase 8 mo later

I learned after 8 months at this complex that there is a large shaded port with a water hookup. No more awful car wash swirls. A quick °110 wash

The Koni SA set rides like a Grand Touring suspension that eats hard bumps and road joints up like nothing, yet remains firm and nearly flat if you toss it hard into a corner or brake. You can feel them work. Perfect road trip suspension.
Comfort: 8/10
Stiffness: 4/10
Cost: $600
Not much info for the MK6 GTIs using these, so here goes:
Spent a frankly embarrassing amount of time researching any possible suspension setups available for GTIs in the past 15 years. Cup kits, coilovers, springs on stock dampers, damper swap on stock springs, you name it. I've been through every forum page imaginable on VwVortex and Mk6Golf because I'm an analytical detail freak that makes spreadsheets. Not proud of it. These are hailed as incredible kits in the Mazda, BMW, and MINI forums.
I was really unsure of lowering and modifying 'too' much, as the MK6 is aging now, but I was bummed the VW Drivergear springs were no longer made, so I went some other suggestions of the Koni SA dampers on stock springs. I ALMOST went with Neuspeed Sport Springs. Kind of wish I did? However, these travel a ton when you hit a bump to soak it up. Koni says you can possibly pair it with a spring, given you have enough travel and don't bottom out (much debate about that online, as Koni used to say NO to lowering springs) and I couldnt find a linear spring set, so I just kept the factory springs as many suggested.
For my taste, turned out a touch too soft. Almost numb. My next pick would be a spring added, accepting a shorter lifespan, or move over to Bilsteins of some kind for extra stiffness, or even coilovers.
Had a euro plate on for years and got tired of it. However. I refused to pay $35 per pair from that one website, since there are 5 holes.
Hit up Ace Hardware and got the automotive plastic rivet 4804-a and applied two light paint pen brush coats.
Pilot the bumper holes to 3/32" and press in. Dun
Im so terribly on the fence about either getting a damper/spring kit w/new mounts with .75" - 1" lowering on my MK6 or just getting a full Sachs factory refresh kit for much less money ($550 vs $1.1k).
Arizona roads are often somewhat not smooth. Never lowered a car before because of when I was stranded, the GTI barely had the clearance to get onto the uHaul dolly to truck it back home, so Ive questioned it ever since.
It goes on some road trips but mainly a light daily driver. Its at 115k miles, so im due on doing something suspension-wise soon here. You can definitely feel it.
MK6 GTI -
I cannot find a whole ton on this suspension kit other than on some older forum posts.
Looking for a small drop (<1" drop) and nothing 'stiff'. Also not committed to coilovers, nor the price of them. Everything I find has lower drops, which I definitely do not want.
Currently on factory Sachs front and GTI B4 Bilstein shocks (which are are stiff as bricks. Avoid these shocks)
My MK6 front end suspension is factory and very loose and vague. The car is at 113k miles and Im accepting stuff is starting to go. Beats a car payment right now. Im aiming for a small drop and better handling. Not rough.

My rear shocks were replaced in 2023 with OE match sport Bilstein B4 (19-140025).

Im between a full refresh of B14 Bilstein and some sort of springs for probably $1400 with some new hardware, etc.

Replacing just the front struts with B4 Bilstein like the rear and getting the 034 Motorsport Dynamic+ springs with a ~.7" drop. ($5-650)
(Made for stock suspension. These)

I hope to have this car another year or so and would love some handling improvements without breaking the bank since its already tuned. Im in Arizona and love to road trip, so nothing too low. Ive had to trailer it home before...
I know very little about intercoolers, so Im trying learn if it would beneficial to get one with my stage 1 Unitronic MK6.
I am in Arizona where its starting to kiss °110F and I absolutely feel the struggle. However, I dont daily it, working from home.
Or... use that money on coilovers...
If yes, what types of intercooler would be recommended? I hear a lot about the S3 swap
Ive recently discovered that Nolly's newer 212 cab option in the very last cab slot is a work of magic that I see no one ever using or talking about.
For my ears, I get much better 'Periphery Juggernaut-esque' tightness out of that cab than the default rhythym or crunch cab.
I use it with a 57 mic and the 160 blended with the 1st Overdrive pedal.
Just a fun head's up in case no one has touched it yet. My guess is that it is his favorite Zilla Fatboy or Mesa 2x12 cab in his collection, since he mentioned it's loaded with V30 speakers from his rundown video
(mk6 gti)
Ive noticed the past 2 years that around 30-60 mph the speedometer needle wobbles, as well as the tachometer needle. Does anyone else have this? I saw some old threads from the 2010s but nothing conclusive a whole back.
Doesnt affect anything else, just so weird to look at.
After a long time of researching, I think I got close. They used an HK Triamp through a Mesa 4x12 (I think). It's mic'd super aggressively with a crazy top end. It's more of a crunch tone.
I spent days making this as I was learning Collapse. It's the closest I think you can get in Nolly without an IR cab or more crazy mixing techniques.

If for some reason the xml file is broken, all settings are on the screen. Feel free to lower the high end frequencies outside of a mix, it's super abrasive.
Anyone have some elite IRs they have come across for any Archetypes? Ive had some favorites over the years:
- Coffee Audio's 2x12 free IR pack - insanely punchy and unique. Very 2010s Periphery
- Ml Sound Lab's Zilla 4x12 - very smooth and massive
- York Audio's Mesa 2x12 $1 pack - stupid good for anything. Clear, ballsy midrange with V30s
