How long do I wait before glueing stained wood?

How long should I wait to glue stained wood? I made a multi layer multi stained wood picture frame. I usually cut first then glue but since it's multiple staines and layers I decided to stain first, cut, glue then top coat. I know glueing wood stained wood does not have as tight of a bond, but I'm not building furniture here, it's a picture frame, will just sit on the wall. Also i'm am using Tightbond III. Also I'm fine with sanding sides that glue together a little first before glueing if needed. I just can't find how long I should wait before sanding and glueing. Using Miniwax, instructions say wait 4 hours before applying another coat, but nothing about glueing. Does anyone know?

Anyway to just run MouseWithoutBoarders without powertoys?

I only use MouseWithoutBoarders, would be nice to just install it without all of PowerToy's bloat. Is there a way to do this?

What adhesive should I use to reattach aluminum j hooks to back of wall mirror?

I have a mirror (32" x 40" ~5mm thick) that attached to the all with j hooks. It's been working well for a couple years in our basement. Recently it fell off the wall (did not break). The adhesive on the j hooks came off. Looking at them they seemed to use for small prices of double sided 3m tape and then some type of adhesive on each j hook. I tried cleaning off all the tape and adhesive with goo be gone and rubbing alcohol, and reattaching with 5min epoxy, but the same thing happened, they came off (again mirror did not break, I'm lucky).

I reached out to the manufacturer and asked what I should use. They said to use high-performance MS Polymer sealant. Looking on line there are quite a few types of high-performance MS Polymer sealant.

What do you recommend I try to use to reattach? Any specific brand or type of high-performance MS Polymer sealant? Or a different method?

Do ballots that are delivered via official ballot drop off boxes require postage?

The instructions don't specificallystste that postage is not required if dropping off your ballot via an official drop off box. Will my ballot be delivered if I just fill out the ballott, put it in an envelope, fill the envelope out as the instructions show, don't put postage on it and deliver to a drop off box?

UPDATE: No, you don't need postage when dropping off at an official Ballot drop box. Thanks to all that replied!

Elastic + Hydrolix?

Has anyone worked with Hydrolix yet? I just started research on the company, it's not clear if we can use Hydrolix with our Elastic clusters, or if Hydrolix is a separate solution we would have to deploy and migrate to. Reading their FAQ I see this:

> Hydrolix is a real-time data platform designed for the challenges of real-time processing of high volumes of event data. Hydrolix combines stream processing, indexed search, advanced compression techniques, and decoupled storage into a single, stateless architecture, a design that delivers a combination of high-performance, longer hot data retention, and low cost.

Just seems like Hydrolix does what Elastic, Splunk, and Cribl would do. I guess their real selling point is their own proprietary data lake compression. Is that true? I dont see the benefit of using Hydrolix over setting up hot/frozen tiers with Elastic + integration of a powerful data ingestion pipeline system like Cribl.

I sure I am missing a lot of benefits that Hydrolix may provide. Is there a benefit to forking over more money for Hydrolix licensing, when our expenses are deep in Elastic enterprise licensing and possibly Cribl licensing?

The 4gig file, how to disable all AI and get rid of it?

Seeing a lot about this. I have put up with Chrome, and its problems for a while. But I dont like how there is a 4Gig file on my PC taking up space doing who knows what. I read a post that linked to this article. I want to get rid of this file, and really any AI features on Chrome.

https://www.androidauthority.com/google-chrome-weights-bin-ai-model-download-explained-3664043/

Mainly this section:

> Step 1: Disable the Chrome Flags > Open Google Chrome, type chrome://flags into your URL address bar, and press the Enter key on your keyboard. > In the search bar at the top, search for “optimization-guide-on-device-model.” > When the #optimization-guide-on-device-model flag appears, click the dropdown menu on the right and select “Disabled.” > Search and disable “#prompt-api-for-gemini-nano” too. > Click the Relaunch button that appears at the bottom of the screen to restart Chrome. > This stops Chrome from using the feature, preventing forced auto-downloads when you delete the files.

Unfortunately this does not work. That setting is under "unavailable" and I cant disable it.

Anyone know of a quick way to disable all AI on chrome and get rid of this file?

I am planning to ditch chrome and move to Firefox at some point, just looking for a quick fix for now. Yes I know, whatever hotfixes I apply I am sure Chrome will undo after the next update. I will probably plan to move to another browser at some point.

Single Free Monitoring + IPAM solution?

Hello, curious if there is a Single Free Monitoring + IPAM solution out there?

For Monitoring: I have used Zabbix in the past before and love it. Are there any plugins that allow me to simply track VLANs, devices, and ip addresses (unmonitored for systems that don't have SNMP) directly in Zabbix? Its interesting that Zabbix lets you track rack space but not IPs, subnets, and vlans. Have not messed with Nagios, do they have a IPAM plugin of some sorts? Haven't messed with Zabbix in a few years, is there a plugin that allows for simple IPAM just on Zabbix? Or maybe some other SNMP monitoring solution has this?

For IPAM / CMDB: I messed around with Netbox in the past, I like it, but I don't like having to jump between two systems to manage the same basic data. Also, yes, I am aware of the nbxsync plugin. The plugin is neat but I don't like how I would need to have two separate systems (IPAM and Monitoring) and need to sync them constantly with changes. The environment I am trying to track is small, not worth all the effort. I have tired PHPIPAM, I am not a fan.

Please note: I am only casting a net to see if someone has a solution out there. I am not looking for lectures about how one shouldn't try to combine these roles.

I want to upgrade the bios for the M715q. I have a couple questions maybe someone can help? The bios currently says I am running version M1XKT41A .

  • How can I tell if I have a M715q Gen1 or Gen2? I know there are different Bios files for each, how can I tell what I have?
  • Are these the two sites for the Gen1 and Gen2 bios flash software?
  • What is the correct process to install the BIOS? The OS for the device is Debian, therefor I cannot use windows .exe install route. Do I create a bootable .iso?
  • Should I be using the .zip file to create the bootable USB? or just use the .iso file and create one myself?
  • How do I properly create a bootable ISO? I tried using Rufus but it barked that it couldn't' do it. the instructions I found in the .zip files for the bios does not detail how to do this. I assume I can use dd to create a bootable USB with a command like this? dd if=<bios image version>.iso of=/dev/sdb bs=4M status=progress && sync Note I checked lsblk sdb is the usb stick.
  • Why is it that I see a different version when running strings against one of the .iso files? I ran strings m1xj962usa.iso | grep -i "M1[0-9]KT" And I see M11Kt39A1.39 Is it expected the version shown from grep'ed strings output is different from the file name version?

Just want to make sure I am applying the latest version, for the specific generation hardware I have, and do it with the proper process. Appreciate it if anyone can give some advice on this. Thanks.

UPDATE I figured out how to tell which generation these M715q's are. There are three ways. 1) look at the sticker, but its not apparent by just looking. If serial number sticker says "10VG", its a Gen2. If it says "10M" or "10R" its a Gen1. 2) You can put the serial number into Lenovo's website here that will tell you if its Gen1 or Gen2. 3) Go into the Bios it tells you on the main page on the line "Product Generation". Will burn USB stick and report back with findings after.

UPDATE2 Ok upgrade worked. To answer my questions above

  • How to tell if Gen1 or Gen2? See first update
  • Which site to use? Second site for Gen2, but really, use the warranty link in the first update, put your serial in and use the bios versions on there.
  • What is the correct process to install the Bios? Go to the warranty link, enter your serial number, go to drivers > BIOS / UEFI > Download the latest .iso bios image. I then uploaded the image to a linux box, plugged in a USB stick, did lsusb to make sure it was recognized, then lsblk to find the block identifier (sdb in my case) and then use the dd command I have above in the original post. I did find this link on a different process to create a bootable usb stick for the bios ISO, however I did not try it so I cant vouch if it works or not. Now boot up the host (without the USB stick attached), and go into the BIOS with F2 at boot up. Back up your settings, the bios update will remove them, also change secure boot to disabled temporarily if you have it turned on. Now insert the usb stick into the box and select F10 to save and reboot. The system will reboot to the USB key. When it starts up, it will show a bunch of conditional statements, and prompt you if you want to change the box model number (select N for no, enter), then it will ask you if you want to change the serial number (select N for no, enter), at this point the bios will start to update, a few screens will display showing progress, just let it run and dont unplug anything. After its done the system will reboot. And you should be good. You can use sudo cat /sys/class/dmi/id/* to see the new version. Reboot again, get back into the bios and put your settings back (boot order, secure boot, etc.)
  • Why is it that I see a different version when running strings against one of the .iso files? Ignore this, as @LetterHeadClassic306 said, it does not matter.

I am trying to connect multiple hosts (proxmox) to a single imitator mapped to a single lun on Synology. I have the imitator configured, with the LUN on DSM. I enabled the setting on the initiator to allow multiple imitators can connect to it. I connected my hosts, but when adding the hosts in DSM and applying permissions, only one of the hosts can be read/write. The rest must be read. Why? This makes no sense to me. I can connect ESXi Systems to single initiators to luns on EMC and NettApp just fine and have read / write across all hosts. Why is Synology limiting this? This should not be considered a corruption issue. I am using file systems that can support multiple reads and writes to the iscsi target. Am I missing a setting somewhere?

UPDATE: Found the setting. Its under the LUN. LUN > edit > Permissions > Allow All.

Kind of dumb but its the only thing that works. I don't understand why they would provide "custom" if custom is limited. Shurgs whatever.
