Remembering a Chinese proletarian

The story of a Chinese worker called Peng Shiyun (1995 - 2026) has spread widely on the Chinese Internet with commemorations, after his drowning on August 4.

Peng was from Puding, Guizhou. Due to spinal osteophyte formation, he suffered from neck stiffness. He became viral online after being recorded because of his appearance, earning him the nickname "Laobiao". His account had over 220,000 followers. However, he didn't benefit from this fame and lived an extremely frugal life. After leaving home to work in a factory assembly line years ago, he earned 4,500 yuan a month, sending 4,000 yuan back home. To save money, he refused to smoke, drink, or dine out; a bowl of rice was enough to satisfy him. On August 4th, he went swimming in a river and tragically drowned. His body wasn't found until five days later. After his death, many people began to commemorate him, and his image as an ordinary proletarian laborer spread online.

I hope people here can remember this comrade too!

New York City is AES

I chose this Global Times report specifically because that makes it double AES (learn Chinese if you don't understand it, it's true language)

I love how he kept the word "Mayor" in English like that's his first name or something

Commemorating Lei Feng and his spirit

Today is August 15th, the day Lei Feng passed away. Lei Feng was a soldier in the Chinese People's Liberation Army. His revolutionary deeds were widely publicized at the time, and his spirit became known as the "Lei Feng Spirit". The essence of the Lei Feng Spirit is socialist collectivism, a rejection of bourgeois individualism, and a clear proletarian stance. As Lei Feng himself said:

>In the old society, five out of my family of six were killed by landlords and capitalists. [...] I learned what class, exploitation, and oppression are.

Now in China, the "Lei Feng Spirit" is either used by capitalists as a whip to persuade workers to work, or simply used to encourage harmony and charity. If Lei Feng were alive, he would certainly not learn from the so-called "Lei Feng Spirit" promoted today. Its strength lay precisely in eliminating the system that creates suffering, not in embracing or accepting it. The true "Lei Feng" teaches you to smash the old system to liberate the people, while the false "Lei Feng" covers up social contradictions and maintains the existing order.

Select a faction to continue...

Social democrat infighting, and I have no idea why did I make this
(Note: on the left side is the current CCP symbol since 1996, on the right side is the current Socialist International symbol since 1979)

Edit: I didn't point out what the left one represent at first but I edited this description after. Felt like some people might misunderstood what do I mean.

The r/theredleft Discord server is a goal (coal) mine - Part 2

Today we have started a protest (or not) and caused an economic crisis (bots breaking down) using star reactions... it was truly a madness.

See Part 1 here

Beijing worker dies after working overtime for over 140 days, application for work injury recognition rejected

On December 27, 2025, Zhang Liang, a 37-year-old engineer, fell into a coma during a dinner party and subsequently died despite rescue efforts. The reason was that his company, Beijing Fanghong Intelligent Technology Co., Ltd., required him to work overtime for more than 140 days. Even while undergoing emergency medical treatment, he continued to receive work-related calls and messages. His wife, Cai Xiaodan, applied to the Miyun District Human Resources and Social Security Bureau for a determination of work-related injury, but on June 30, 2026, she received a formal decision denying the claim, because Zhang had not died during actual working hours. Throughout this six-month period, the company consistently evaded responsibility and suppressed evidence; a key witness abruptly reneged before providing testimony, the family’s attempt to negotiate at the company’s entrance was rebuffed, and even Zhang’s work computer was confiscated. Cai has spoken to the media and, since April, has posted numerous videos containing evidence on social media; however, the company has lodged complaints against many of these videos, resulting in several being taken down. Her efforts to seek justice are ongoing.

Evidence that this incident exists: Sina News report / Jinri Toutiao report / Cai's account on Bilibili

Today is the 105th anniversary of the founding of the Communist Party of China

The First National Congress of the Communist Party of China (CPC) convened secretly in the Shanghai French Concession on July 23, 1921, attended by 15 delegates. The proceedings were suspended on July 30 after the venue was raided by the Concession police, and the congress concluded on August 3 aboard a silk-awning boat in Jiaxing, Zhejiang. The convening of the congress marked the official founding of the Communist Party of China.

The congress adopted a provisional program for the CPC, defining it as a party of the proletariat with the goals of overthrowing the bourgeoisie, abolishing the capitalist system of ownership, and establishing the dictatorship of the proletariat to realize socialism and communism. Chen Duxiu was elected Secretary of the CPC Central Bureau.

Fire scene in the terrible new movie "Crossing" (2026)

This movie was released on June 26, and it's about the Battle of Chishui River

It is so terrible that they literally used an AI-generated advertizing poster, which got the entire map and location names wrong (the movie itself is obviously terrible too, just look at this anime-like scene or something)

The Guizhou government and state media just have to promote the movie so much while everyone on social media hates it

(The music is not part of the movie since this was edited)

Counterattack (1976)

Production of the film was completed in September 1976, and it was scheduled for release on October 1. However, the political situation at the time prevented its release.

(I recorded my screen since the editing software was too slow to export, so you can see a cursor on the screen. Can't be bothered to re-record it.)

Chinese disabled elderly man forced to work at a cement warehouse for 20 years without wages

On June 7, a video posted by an online blogger revealed that an elderly man with a disability was manually (un)loading over 20 tons of cement daily at a cement warehouse in a village in Qingyuan District, Baoding, Hebei. He wore neither a mask nor gloves and received no wages. According to the blogger:

>The boss said the man had no official identification, and that he had been "sent to him by a friend" over twenty years ago. When I asked the boss what would happen if the man died without identification, the boss said he would simply be buried. The boss also said local authorities were aware of the situation.

The video sparked widespread attention. On June 10, authorities in Baoding issued an official statement:

>Investigations revealed that the disabled individual is a villager named Ding (male, 66) from another city. He arrived in Liuzhuang Village, Zangcun Town, in this district [Qingyuan District] approximately twenty years ago and subsequently lived and worked for An (male, 57), the operator of a cement dealership. Following the incident, the district arranged a comprehensive medical examination for Ding on the afternoon of June 7; the results showed no abnormalities, and proper arrangements have been made for his care. Meanwhile, public security authorities conducted DNA matching, and Ding's relatives were located on June 9. Currently, the public security authorities have taken An into criminal custody in accordance with the law.

It is worth noting that the China conducted its sixth national census in 2010 and its seventh in 2020, yet neither census "discovered" him.
