Capitol Corridor to start using Uber vouchers for Service Disruptions

Capitol Corridor launched a pilot program in partnership with Uber that provides up to $30 toward Uber rides to passengers affected by major service disruptions (effective beginning 4/27/26). When eligible, you will receive an Uber voucher (up to $30) to help you reach your final destination when your train is significantly delayed, terminated, or your station is closed. This is part of Capitol Corridor’s ongoing commitment to getting you where you need to go, even when service interruptions occur.

How Do I Get a Voucher?
When a qualifying disruption occurs, Capitol Corridor will send a service alert via email/SMS to current subscribers that includes a unique voucher link.

  • Terminated Train: Your train is terminated enroute and the next available train is more than 1 hour away.
  • Significant Delay: Your train is stopped at a station for 1 hour or more for any reason.
  • Trespasser or Vehicle Strike: Your train is delayed or stopped due to a trespasser or vehicle strike.
  • Station Closure: Your station is closed for a day or less during normal service hours.

How To Use a Voucher
You must have the Uber app installed on your smartphone. If you don’t have it yet, the link will take you to the app download page so you can get started. If you don’t yet have an Uber account, follow the prompts within the app to create one.

  1. Click the link in the service alert message to accept your Uber voucher.
  2. To view the voucher and its balance, select Account in the bottom right corner, then Wallet, and scroll down to the Vouchers section.
  3. Ready to go? Enter your pickup and drop off locations and request your Uber ride. The voucher will automatically apply to eligible rides.
  4. Once your vehicle has arrived, check your ride before getting in: confirm that the license plate number displayed in your app matches the actual vehicle. Drivers will often also ask your name before starting the trip.

*If your trip cost exceeds the $30 voucher, the remainder will be charged to your personal payment method stored in the Uber app.

NoteVouchers are valid for rides originating at the impacted station(s) only. The expiration time will be noted in your service alert message— typically 2 to 4 hours after the disruption begins.
