Canadian National Railway EMD FP9 #6525 as it appeared in the movie Festival Express (1970)

This locomotive chugged across the Canadian countryside bringing along Buddy Guy, Janis Joplin, The Band, The Grateful Dead, and many others to various concert venues from Toronto, Winnipeg, and Calgary.

Has since been renumbered to #1754 and got a new paint job. Still around, somewhere. Last known location is at Dieselmotive Company.

Capitol Corridor Fare Increase Effective September 1, 2026

Quoted from the Capitol Corridor website:

Effective September 1, 2026, Capitol Corridor fares will increase as part of the fare changes outlined in our Business Plan. 

Over the past six years, we have made only minor adjustments to Capitol Corridor fares. This upcoming fare increase will cover all Capitol Corridor fares (including Tap2Ride) and will help keep pace with inflation and the rising costs of operating our service. Multi-ride discounts are being aligned across the system to reduce variation. The validity period for 10-Ride tickets will change from 90 days to 60 days.
