Does the Netflix series follow the games or is it a separate story?

This is my new Tiger heart barbarian Al’likkör Hr’rothgâr
He is a Barbarian/Champion Fighter/Thief Rogue
He was born to a villiage of Orcs who had renounced their ways of raiding and pillaging and instead decided to attune themselves to the natural world by slaying a legendary creature and taking an aspect of the creature and making it apart of themselves.
They would do this by undertaking a ritual when they reached the age of 16. They would go out into the forest and travel miles tracking a beast that would prove them worthy. Al’likkör found a giant tiger covered in scars and scrapes from past fights and tracked it for days. He tracked it back to its lair and armed himself with nothing but a makeshift battle axe. They fought for 3 hours straight and Al’likkör came out on top. He carried out the ritual that would infuse his spirit with the tiger spirit giving him a natural bloodlust.
He carried the carcass back to his camp where they carved its bones into piercings and jewellery and they used the meat to have a glorious feast. He was welcomed back a warrior of the tribe.
3 years later they had heard whispers from birds about a human logging company barreling through the forest and cutting down all the trees, hauling them off to some faraway land.
Al’likkör and 3 other were sent to scout and find those responsible. It took them all day but eventually they came upon a camp where 5 humans were sleeping soundly next to a smouldering fire. They had 3 piles of freshly cut logs next to them and looking behind the camp the scouts saw a path cut through the forest caked in ash and debris.
Seeing this filled them with rage and Al’likkör and the scouts cut the humans down as they slept. They left an axe in one as a warning and returned to the tribe. As they returned a feast was held to celebrate the ridding of the parasitic humans.
However, in the middle of the night Al’likkör smelt smoke as he slept. He awoke to a faint orange glow outside his hut. As he emerged he saw fire and flames as if he was in the hells. His people were on the floor charred and burnt as all the buildings were engulfed in flame. He saw one of the perpetrators, a human baring the crest of the logging company. Al’likkör jumped at the human and broke its jaw, although as he did a greatclub was swung against his head and he was knocked unconscious.
He awoke in a cage strapped to a cart being pulled by oxen. The humans said that they shouldn’t have interfered with their business and that they were taking him as both debt and a trophy back to their employers in baldurs gate. He was told he was to fight in a gladiator ring as entertainment and as payback for killing their people.
What they didn’t account for was how good he was. Al’likkör quickly rose the ranks and became a champion in the battlefield earning the respect of the company’s boss. He was hired as muscle for the leader of the company and protected him. However, this was all a facade to get closer to the leader so Al’likkör could snap his neck as he slept. On that fateful night he carried out his task and made a run from his captors.
He escaped with his life and dignity intact and has spent the last 3 years as a mercenary in the lower city and the outskirts of baldurs gate.
Sorry for the long post I just really wanted to share my characters backstory!
Hope you enjoyed!
My current controller I have now is a cheap wired controller and the wire that connects it’s has started to fray which causes disconnection so I’m looking for a new controller.
I would prefer it to be under £100 and durable
I’ve heard good things about the Gamesir G7 Pro and the Gamesir G7 SE but honestly just want opinions on everyone’s personal choice and experiences
Thank you!
Just about to start my second playthrough and was stuck on which playstyle to do.
It’s between a stealth archer (Gloomstalker/Assassin)
Or
A shape shifting moon Druid that uses utility and AOE spells
I’m stuck because I like the theming of both an assassin and having the utility of a Druid but I’m stuck on which to play.
I’ve heard that Gloomstalker kind of trivialises the game and makes it a bit too easy sometimes with the raw amount of damage it outputs and with Druid there are already 2 Druid companions and not much gear to go along with it
So I just wanted to ask what are your opinions on the 2 playstles and which do you recommend?
When looking at both classes which one is objectively better for a team.
On one hand you have the raw damage and power of a sorcerer and on the other you have the tanking and versatility of a Druid.
Sorcerer is a charisma based class which allows it to be a party face and handle most situations where dialogue is concerned with ease but is mainly a one trick pony in any other regard limited to blasting and casting spells.
Druid is a wisdom based class that can transform into powerful forms capable of tanking a lot of damage, sneaking into areas and controlling a battlefield with spells and summons however the lack of charisma leads it to underperform in dialogue checks.
I am aware that most people prefer the sorcerer for its ability as a party face and being able to cast powerful spells that delete enemies in one shot (scorching ray, chain lightning, etc)
I personally prefer the multitool that is Druid as being able to fit whatever the situation calls for is very satisfying. If we need to scout ahead and look for anything of interest then wildshaping into a cat solves that as most people don’t pay a second notice to a cat wandering about. Or if we need someone to draw enemies attention and tank some powerful hits then wild shape into an owlbear and take the frontline. Or if we need some spellcaster support to help the backline then the wide array of spells that the Druid is gifted (spike growth, call lightning, plant growth, etc)
So in my opinion while yes there isn’t much single target damage potential within a Druid I feel like they have more control over the battlefield and how a fight turns out. Although at a dialogue point of view they do lack but that can be rectified with background proficiencies.
What is your take? Is druids versatility better? Or is sorcerers raw damage and dialogue options more proficient?
So I finished my first playthrough ever last week and finished with 120 hours or so as a Tav Paladin.
Now I want to play through the game again but this time obviously as a dark urge to get that extra spice.
But I can in no way shape or form find the motivation to actually go through with it.
I get really excited to make the character but as soon as I boot up the game and see that menu I lose all motivation when I think of playing through the start of the game.
Has anyone has the same issue? Or is it just me
And if so how did you fix that
I haven’t got many mods so I’m a bit confused and it’s really immersion breaking 😭
UPDATE: I fixed it thank you guys :)
I always see people complaining about the look of the Helldusk set but I just got it and omg it’s fucking fire (no pun intended)
My character is body type 4 and a paladin so on a buff body it just looks dope af and gives an infernal paladin look.
Most people I see complain about it usually have body type 1 and I must admit on a small figure it doesn’t look the best but overall it’s so cool
Just wondering before I go and slime out my man yurgir
Trying to find a nice ‘on theme’ build for my dark urge and was wondering what everyone did for their favourite playthrough 👀
So I’ve made 2 characters who I’m in love with atm but cannot for the life of me pick between them.
So I need help on which to play
First is a Tav Draconic Paladin part of an order that worshipped Tyr and uses their gifts from their dragon ancestors to fuel their paladin might.
The second is a Durge Gloomstalker Bard that was a serial assassin known as ‘The Jester’ that terrorised the lower city of Baldur’s Gate before disappearing
Which do you think would be better for RP and gameplay?
I’m both a fan of the stealthy gameplay and the ‘run in and bonk’ gameplay so I just need opinions on which would be better to play as
Thank you!
As the title suggests I’m stuck between the 2
If I’m playing storm sorcerer I’m gonna be using Cold and Lightning spells on top of a bunch of utility spells and I’ll be multiclassing into tempest domain cleric for that juicy channel divinity
If I’m playing fire draconic sorcerer I’ll be multiclassing into fiend warlock and obviously using fire spells on top of utility.
I know with the right gear fire Sorlock is one of the most powerful builds in the game and is great for single target damage but many enemies in the late game such as Raphael or yurgir flat out are immune to fire damage which puts me in a difficult position because I don’t want to end up useless in a fight that can be potentially game ending.
Both build depend heavily on gear but I feel like fire Sorlock is more a victim of this with the hat of fire acuity being vital for the build
In terms of roleplaying i know Draconic gets more dialogue instead of storm sorcery and in my opinion storm sorcery gets more subclass specific bonuses from tempestuous flight, heart of the storm (plus the bonus spells such as call lightning etc) and storms fury while fire Sorlock gets mage armour more damage and flight (which you get from being half illithid anyway)
So i don’t know which one to pick because on one hand you’ve got Fire Sorlock which melts single targets doing insane damage and has decent battlefield control and on the other you have storm sorcerer which has more bonus features and excels in battlefield domination with create water plus lightning
My point is I need someone to sell me on both builds in terms of playstyle and bonus features from each subclass
What class and race did everyone play first time round?
What memorable things do you remember from it and what’s your favourite class and race to play as now?
EDIT: My first playthrough was a Wood Half-Elf Moon druid and my current favourite is a Dragonborn Sorcadin
Hey guys
So as the title suggests I’m starting my first dark urge playthrough and wanted to know if this works for the character in terms of lore and gameplay
So the idea I have is quite simple a Lolth-Sworn Drow paladin/cleric (of Lolth)
Now don’t be worried about spoilers as i know the dark urges lore about bhaal and whatnot but I was just wondering would it make sense?
The other option is going a Dragonborn Paladin of Tyr maybe but I feel that’s worse in terms of lore cause Tyr is a Lawful Good god who would never take a bhaalspawn.
To make sense of the Drow paladin I like to think Lolth and Bhaal struck a deal to make the most pure bhaalspawn ever known so he wanted a blueprint that was seen as perfection so he chose the Drow but because it’s not a traditional Bhaalspawn he asked Lolth if she could make a drow and then he infuse it with his essence.
Basically bhaal approaches Lolth and says “you know what would be really funny” kind of thing lol
For gameplay I’m thinking Oathbreaker/Death Cleric
I want to go as resist durge so maybe I’ll retake the oath as vengeance or something
But yeah lmk your thoughts and what I could do to flesh it out more or if you have any ideas just put them in
Thanks!
As the title says I was just wondering how well paladin would work with being the dark urge especially one that worships a god.
Like how would that make sense lore wise?
I have 2000+ hours in this game and haven’t finished it once 😳
I have reached act 3 a handful of times but mainly get stuck in act 1.
I make a character then reach the mountain pass and then get a new idea for another character and the cycle repeats.
And due to my completions nature I like to finish all content in a specific area before moving on
How do I get over this 😭
Hey all,
Got a question on what I should do
I’m thinking of playing an Oath of Vengeance Paladin of Tyr and am struggling which race to pick.
I’ve narrowed it down to 3
- Half-Orc
- Zariel Tiefling
- Dragonborn
Just wondering what everyone’s opinion was on which to pick. I know half orc has better crust and Tiefling has some smites but I’m just so indecisive.
Also side note I will be romancing Lae’zel so I’m happy to take suggestions based on that too!
Hey guys,
I’m having some difficulty picking a race for my first dark urge.
Don’t worry about spoilers as i know the story of the dark urge but just have never played it.
My build will be a Wildheart tiger barbarian go a build based around bleed (cause bhaal yk)
However I’m struggling to pick between Dragonborn or half orc. I will be romancing Lae’zel and I know Dragonborn have some interesting scenes with her but mechanically half orc works better for the build with the crit boost and relentless endurance.
Just wanted some help on which to pick
Thank you!
EDIT: For a bit of backstory this dark urge used to be an assassin but after being stabbed in the brain and messed up by kressa’s experiments it left him reverting to a more primal instinct therefore barbarian. I like to think that the stat change from sneaky assassin to burly barbarian was because of kressa’s experiments but I can’t really see a half orc being a sneaky assassin is all😭 My brain is in shambles
