I rebuilt the whip sword skill so it no longer just spins around the player.

I rebuilt the whip sword skill in Oiran Survival.

The old version was a simple spinning motion around the player.

The new version has a fully remade attack motion, 3D model, and effects.

Now the blade bends, snaps, and cuts through the horde like a whip, while still feeling like a sword tearing enemies apart.

Instead of one simple circle, the attack now moves in a more unpredictable path around the player.

The goal was to make the skill feel more alive in the middle of the horde:
a cursed blade moving through the battlefield, cutting enemies from multiple directions before they close in.

I added a ground-rending ultimate skill that sends enemies flying.

I added a standard ultimate skill this time.

I plan to implement three ultimate skills in total.

With overwhelming power that can tear through the ground, it sends enemies flying.

The same stage can roll a different element every run.

In Oiran Survival, the stage element can change each run.

Neutral.
Fire.
Ice.
Wind.
Water.

The same stage does not always start with the same condition.
Check the element, then choose the gear you bring into the fight.

u/OiranSuvival — 10 days ago

Same stage, different weakness. Change your gear before the horde arrives.

In Oiran Survival, the same stage can roll a different element each run.

Check the stage element.
Check the enemy weakness.
Change your equipment.
Build around the right element.

One run may push you toward fire gear.
The next run may ask for ice, wind, water, or another setup.

Same stage.
Different element.
Different build.

Clearing a stage once does not give you one fixed answer.
The next run can change what you bring into the fight.

A courtesan under a blood moon awakens and cuts through a cursed horde.

Post:
Under a blood moon, she steps into the cursed night.

No rescue.
No prayer.
Only the blade opens a path.

The curse rises.
Her eye awakens.
The horde waits in the dark.

Grow your skills, wipe out the horde, and come back stronger.

In Oiran Survival, your power grows while you survive.

Defeat enemies.
Level up.
Choose skills.
Raise them from Lv1 to Lv6.
Break through the horde with Limit Breaks.

Then beat the boss, take rewards, get new gear, and return to the next run with more power and more options.

Each run is about growing your build until enemies that once felt dangerous start falling apart.

Clear a stage, forge your gear, then crush a tougher horde.

In Oiran Survival, winning a fight is only the start of getting stronger.

Defeat a boss.
Choose a reward.
Forge stronger weapons.
Change your gear.
Then return to a harder battlefield and tear through enemies that used to feel dangerous.

The loop keeps pushing forward:
stronger gear, tougher enemies, bigger wipeouts, better rewards.

Each clear makes your gear stronger, your build deadlier, and the next horde even more satisfying to crush.

Start weak, grow your skills, and turn the horde into a wipeout.

At first, the horde feels dangerous.

Your attacks are small.
You kill enemies, level up, choose skills, and keep making them stronger.

Then the screen starts to change.

Small skills grow into Lv6 screen coverage.
Limit Breaks tear through the horde.
The boss falls.
Rewards become the next power.
New gear sends you into the next fight stronger.

That is the loop of Oiran Survival:
survive the pressure, grow your build, wipe out more enemies, and come back stronger.

Hold on through the horde, then wipe it out with one special attack.

Enemies close in from every side.

You hold on for one more second.

Then the cut-in hits, the slash comes out, and the horde disappears.

That sudden switch from pressure to wipeout is one of the main thrills in Oiran Survival.

Every boss reward becomes power for the next fight.

In Oiran Survival, defeating a boss gives you weapons.

Fuse those rewards, strengthen your gear, and return to the next stage ready to cut through more monster hordes than before.

Win the fight.
Upgrade your gear.
Come back stronger.

Every cleared stage changes your next fight.

In Oiran Survival, clearing a stage gives you new weapons.

Those rewards are not just items to collect.
You can fuse matching weapons to raise their level and attributes, then bring that stronger gear into the next battle.

Because there are many weapons and combinations, each clear can change how you approach the next stage.

Clear a stage, earn new gear, fuse it, and return with a setup that can cut through bigger waves of monsters than before.

u/OiranSuvival — 1 month ago

Weapons you earn become the power to wipe out more monsters.

In Oiran Survival, weapons you earn after battle do not just sit in your inventory.

Fuse the same weapons to raise their level and strengthen their attributes.

The next time you return to the battlefield, you are not starting from the same place.
You come back stronger, ready to cut through more monster hordes than before.

Choose the right fan for the next stage.

In Oiran Survival, each stage can change the enemies you face.

Before the fight begins, you choose the fan that fits the next stage, exploit enemy weaknesses, and build toward a stronger run.

I want each stage to feel like a new build choice, not just another wave of monsters.

u/OiranSuvival — 2 months ago

Every cleared stage makes your next run feel stronger.

In Oiran Survival, clearing a stage is not the end.

The weapons you earn can be fused into stronger gear, making your build better and the next monster wave feel a little more beatable.

Win a stage.
Fuse your weapons.
Come back stronger.
Defeat more monsters next time.

EVERY GEAR CHANGE CHANGES HOW YOU FIGHT

In Oiran Survival, gear is not just cosmetic.

Hover over a piece of equipment and you instantly see:

  • how your character looks
  • what stats go up
  • what stats go down
  • which build might fit the next stage better

The goal is to make gear changes part of survival, not just menu work.

Different stages are planned to reward different strengths and resistances, so the best setup will not always be the same.
I want changing gear to feel fast, clear, and exciting — less time hesitating in menus, more time building for the next fight.

Every gear change should open up a new way to survive.

u/OiranSuvival — 2 months ago

Every gear change can change how you fight. Each stage opens up new ways to survive.

In Oiran Survival, hovering over gear instantly changes your appearance and shows the stat difference on the spot.

That means you can immediately see:

  • what gets stronger
  • what gets weaker
  • which build fits the next stage best

Since each stage is planned to reward different strengths and resistances, changing gear is not just cosmetic. It becomes part of building your entire way of fighting.

Less time hesitating, faster build swaps, faster adaptation.
Every gear change opens up a new way to approach the next fight.

I’ve been updating the demo for Oiran Survival in Unity, mainly to make combat easier to read without losing the dark fantasy atmosphere.

This pass focused on:

  • improving enemy readability with rim light, outlines, and stronger emissive differences by level
  • making enemies feel more unsettling through their motion and silhouettes
  • adding manual / auto camera switching so players can adjust the view more freely during combat

The goal is to make enemies easier to recognize at a glance while still keeping them creepy and visually oppressive.

I’m still adjusting the balance, but this version already feels clearer than before.

I updated this story-focused teaser for Oiran Survival after reworking the opening movie in the demo.

This pass was mainly about making the heroine’s emotional shift easier to feel through better Live2D expressions, lip sync, and shorter pacing.

I wanted this version to communicate more clearly why she begins her revenge, while keeping the dark fantasy mood intact.

It’s still something I want to keep improving, but this version feels closer to the emotional tone I want.

I just gave the Oiran Survival demo a major update, and I also replaced the teaser trailer with a new version to match the current state of the game.

This update focused on making the demo clearer, smoother, and more atmospheric:

  • major UI improvements
  • enemies feel creepier, while also being easier to recognize at a glance
  • the stage atmosphere has been pushed further in a darker, more unsettling direction

There’s still a lot I want to improve, but this update was a big step toward making the demo feel stronger overall.

I’ll keep polishing the full version.

just updated the demo for Oiran Survival, my Japanese dark fantasy action roguelite.

This update focused on making the game easier to read and smoother to play:

  • a major UI rework
  • enemies now feel creepier, but also easier to recognize at a glance
  • smoother overall game controls and flow

There’s still a lot I want to improve, but this update was a big readability-focused pass, and I’ll keep polishing the full version.
