Help me get clear on my style!

Help with my style/ getting clear on my looks!

What’s my style? What pieces should I bring into my closet?

Here’s a selection of some of my fave fits from the last year. Tried to include multiple seasons (East coast here)

Trying to get an idea of my style. I love color and pattern. I try to have a fat liberation focus to my fits less focused on “dressing for my body shape” and more interested in having fun! I identify as gender queer / non binary but still def femme though I love to play with my expression. I work full time as a printmaker / illustrator (@FemmePrints on IG) so showcasing my creative self feels important, especially when vending at art markets.

I want to be more intentional about my wardrobe. Hold on to the prices that make me happy and spark joy, and let go of the pieces that I haven’t touched in a year or two or more! I have SO many clothes from fear of changing sizes and just sentimentality but I’m ready to pair down. I focus on second hand shopping and don’t liek to spend that much on clothes. Def more focused on bringing less into my closet and avoiding over consumption.

Help me! What do you think of my fits, how do you think I could edit/ excentuate/ grow my fashion sense? I’m a size US 18/20 def on the small/ mid fat side of things but solidly plus size and not usually fitting into anything under an xxl/ 1x more commonly a 2x is my go to.

Give me your first impressions and then give me some tips, ideas, even some options for ways to add to my wardrobe/ boost my energy more with my outfits!

Expanding my shape options! What are your thoughts?

I’m plus size (18/20 US) and love fashion! I love color and pattern and being bold. I love supporting small and local makers as I am an artist myself and love to thrift/ buy second hand. I also love to be comfortable and am focused on my sensory need just as much as feeling excited by the outfit.

I have been pushing myself to go out of my comfort zone with shape— beyond my classic big pants little top. It’s always a win but wanted to try something new!

Also just got these brand new (second hand) red floral leather clog sandals and I think they are kinda fun with This fit! Wrong shoe for sure but I think kinda cunty.

I usually do more accessories but I was just running errands and forgot.

What do you think??

Thoughts on relief Brayers?

Hi! I am a full time printmaker who is kind of obsessed with print gear. After years of using speedball products I started switching over— first to go were my brayers. I have since started investing in Takach brand brayers and I LOVE them! They are quite expensive yet I feel are 100% worth the price. They have held up so well, are quite heavy but they way they roll is actually not to hard on my arthritic wrists. They are easy to clean with gamsol (traditional oil based ink) and soapy water/ baby wipes (great print studio hack) with some rags.

I originally moved away from speedball because their quality had drastically decreased. Their brayers would get unbelievabley tacky and sticky and were not able to pick up ink. I have them hanging on a peg board and they had even melted onto the board. Wild!! They are out of direct sunlight so it’s not the sun or heat but rather their formula. The oldest brayers I’ve had from them didn’t do this but newer ones did degrade. I still have most of my collection for when I need them. I try to keep them powdered with body powder/ falcon powder to avoid them getting sticky. This isn’t a long term solution but works for about a month and a half at a time. Good enough for me for backup tools. But I refuse to invest any more money into these cheap-o brayers.

I have added photos of the messed up brayers just FYI. Also NOT looking for solutions for these but feel free to share in comments if you think it will help other printmakers who use them. They are affordable and entry level! That’s important these days. But sucks they are SO disposable.

I recently saw speedball released a professional line of brayers that are extremely more expensive (still cheaper than Takach) think ~$170 for a 6” brayer. Has anyone tried them? I am interested for research sake. I’m always looking to add new sizes of brayers// rollers to my collection but do not want to purchase unless they are for real.

If you have invested in higher quality brayers/ rollers what are your favorites? I’m in the US so I’m not looking to get tools I have to spend loads to import.

As Above So Below

Here is one of my favorite linocuts I’ve ever made. As Above So Below is a 12x18” linocut on 16x20” Kitikata paper. Originally carved in Nov 2024! It’s a Korean style tiger, know for heir flamboyant faces and whimsical nature. This guy is lounging in a dogwood tree I’m all self taught and this was made after 6 years of lots and lots of practice.
