Veteran in Logistic

need some advice, so first of all. I am a 5 years navy veteran in Logistics Specialist, and I joined the 88M Army Reserve for GS-9 MILTECH Logistics Specialist, but it did not work out (HR says they having a hiring freeze and an end-of-FY)

For Logistic/supply tech, the highest GS level I can get is mostly GS-6-7. And there is no ladder which means I have to apply competitively every year for a higher GS level. How hard to get a higher GS level once you get in? cause I hate interviews and suck at it.

Or should I go with CBPO since I can start with a much higher GS-9, and they get promoted automatically

Career Advice

Guys need some career advice, so first of all. I am a 5 years navy veteran in Logistics Specialist, and I joined the 88M Army Reserve for GS-9 MILTECH Logistics Specialist, but it did not work out (They have a hiring freeze and an end-of-FY)

For Logistic/supply tech, I think mostly GS level I can get is mostly GS 6-7, and I have to apply competitively every year to get a promotion, and locations is very limited. IDK if you can get promotion for sure once 1 year is up.

For CBPO, I can get GS-9, and I think it's almost automatic promotion until GS-12, and there are many location options.

So from paper CBPO looks much better for me as a career, but how do you guys think? Does anyone have more experience.

Medical

All the veterans, I heard from two different veterans about mental. one says you if you say you active getting treatments like go see a therephy and taking medication that could disqualify you. unless your phychiatrist can say you are able to perform duties

another one got denied and assume he did not get treatments from VA so that got denied.

So which one is it?

Medical review

Just curious for all veterans. I am currently applying for CBPO/BPA at the same time. Do CBPO and BPA share the same application process, or is one faster than the other? And how does it works? Like If I am done medcial part for BPA, does that mean I am done for CBPO also?

Also for medical review, I am currently sitting at 50% anxiety, 6-10% joints issues. which at 80%

But currently I am filing for increased or supplemental could get 70% anxiety, and 30% IBS/ 10% or 0% GERD, 30%-50% tension headache, and a few 10% strains on hips and ankle that could push me 100%

I just saw a post about a veteran who medical failed, and I am worried right now. anyone has the knowledge and tips could share more. Thank you.

Career advice

Long Story: 2017-2022, 5-Year Navy veteran in logistics specialist, used SkillBridge at the San Diego Water Authority as an accounting/finance intern for 6 months, currently majoring in Economics, but had a hard time concentrating and focusing, so switched my major to sociology. I am supposed to graduate already in 2025, but I had an online class with a crazy professor ("Everyone on RateMyProfessors commented, 'Don't take her class, because she is a psycho), and that's what happened to me now. I took her class two times. Now I am still talking to the dean, trying to defend myself from her accusation of cheating online. Hopefully, if everything goes well, I could graduate; if not, I will need to take one more class to graduate.

I also went to a Master's in Supply Chain Management at Maryland also, but because of that professor, I could not continue. I went straight to apply for a federal job using my experience and degree in completing. I was luckily landed a offer that is GS-5 supply technician in Maryland. (I was very happy cause). Then here, things started going sideways, I received two offers from GS-9 MILTECH logistic specialist position from Los Alamitos (30 mins from my home) and Fort Hunter. I asked for advice online about which offer I should take, I saw comments its safe to accept all the offers first, then decide which offer is best to go with. So, I did that. For the MILTECH, I have to sign the contract for the Army and go through the BTC and AIT to be a reservist. I signed the contract and waited; I received emails from GS-5 HR saying they have a non-veteran back up and decide if they need to either move on with him or withdraw their offer (previously, they also sent me an email saying to withdraw my offer because of funding). I have tried to ask GS-9 MILTECH HR how long it is to get an FJO from them but never get a response. So, thats I decided to go with GS-9 MILTECH at Los Alamitos because of the higher GS level, and I don't have to move. Then, my ship day comes; right before my ship day, I received an official withdrawal offer from GS-9 Los Alamitos, and I call them and ask if I had already signed the Army contract, and what I should do. HR talked to her supervisor, and they said they are going to help me find the same position or a a similar position in the same area, but it is not guaranteed.

So I went to Army training, MOS 88M truck motor operator (during the Army training, I got injuries, then I realized I could actually get more disabilities, because it's active time). Right now, I have come back from training. I filed my disability claims again. At the same time, I have sent follow-up emails to HR. She last reponse is that (We are still looking for a position, with the current hiring freeze and end of FY, we are not hiring GS position currently. We will continue to monitor and let you know if we get approval. As stated before, I cannot promise a position, but we are trying to find one. Thank you!).

At the same time, right now I focus on dealing with Dean to get my degree done, so I can move on. Also I applied for CBPO if Logsitic or anything else is not working for me. But I know the application could take very long time. Also the medical can took very long especially due to comples disailbity, because I am trying to get 100% disability right now, so I have to prepare for that. I also applied for an accountant, logistics position again, but I dont hope too much.

I also have a plan to get a CDL; if everything is not working out, then maybe I can get a truck job (I enjoy driving around)

I don't know if anyone who knows from this MILTECH experience and knowledge could explain more to me about this situation or not to help me out.

Veteran apply and gap time

I’m curious, what is like for most veteran want to get into CBPO look like during the long waiting, what you all do during the waiting, and how long is waiting( especially for those have 100%).

Im 5 years navy veteran in logistics and currently in army reserve in 88M truck driving. Currently no idea what to do with my career, might want to get CDL to fill the gap and work little bit. I’m planning apply for CBPO, also apply for logistic/Inventory at same time in federal.

Veteran career struggles

Got out 2022 from navy. Finishing up my bachelors in sociology.

The story is I had two offers from federal 1 is GS-9 miltech which I need to do army reserve stuff that includes boot camp and AIT. 2 is GS-5 offer I could start right away. I wanted to start high so I go with the GS-9, so I go sign the reserve contract. Just before my ship day I received a email that withdraw my miltech offer because of civilian workforce and rebalance. She called me told me continue with AIT and she talked to her supervisor she can help me fill in any open position in the same area.

I have sent follow up email after I done the BTC. She just replied she will follow up with the person works in there. Currently I am two weeks away from finishing my AIT. But there is nothing else I get. I also sent a email see if I can still be considered if there is opening for my GS-5 that I declined but not response yet.

Right now I’m pretty stressed and anxious. I don’t have specific skills, and I’m just turned 30. (Having 80% VA disability) try to figure out what I can do. But I am not a college person and I know I suck at most of things. The only career I can think of is getting into CBPO. So woking part time and get my disability done, and apply for CBPO.

Need everyone’s advice. Thank you

Question for disability and effective date

Let’s say I have back pain. My most original claimed as Fibromyalgia but in the evidence I write about my back pain. Then later I file a new claimed as lumbar or

Radiculopathy (lower back). Would it count as same effect date since I have filed to claim at first time.

Or should I use same fibromyalgia but use stronger evidence to support lower back pain

Veteran struggle career comments

30 years old soon. 2017-2022 navy veteran as logistic specialist got out with 80% disability (still fighting, had 50% first time)

After get out went back to school getting bachelors degree. I was major in economic, but I have to switch to sociology because I realize I can’t even study and concentrate. I struggle a lot when I was major in economics and have hard time. I was supposed to have my degree done by 2025, but this fuking professional keep reporting me (she is crazy, she reports a lot of students for cheating), I took her online class two times and I have still dealing with dean right now.

I had a two federal job offer. One is Mil-tech logistic specialist GS-9 that’s requires army reserve. Another is GS-5 logistic specialist. I withdraw the GS-5 offer, and go for the GS-9 and join the army reserve. They fuking sent me a withdrawals offers because my shipping day. I was sitting in my chair don’t know what to do.

Need some advices from all of the vets. I feel like I am not a college guy, I can’t focus and concentrate and understand and memorize shit. ( the only career path I can think of I can go is CBPO which requires no specific skills) or getting a CDL for short term earning because I enjoy to drive and deliver.

CDL A

I am a veteran and now getting my CDL from the army.

My plan is working in the federal job, but recently might not get it anytime soon. So I might want to apply and work as CDL driver that I can go home at least often or weekend. What are some good advice.
