Maid Marian(Rhexia Nashii)

My first time ever seeing this gorgeous flower! Quite a few at that. Larval host for the large lace border moth.

Found out the hard way these flowers are very delicate—I lightly touched a stem to make my camera focus and POOF! All petals gone.

Who else loves biking or driving down random roads to encounter cool plants? Tis easily one of my favorite pastimes in this summer heat.

Sweet old man Orville. Adopted 12 years ago, only to end up back at the same shelter as a senior.

Orville was adopted from CACC TWELVE YEARS AGO. Just shy of the anniversary of that adoption, he was found as a stray and brought right back to the shelter where his journey began.

This sweet old man has lived an entire lifetime before finding himself homeless again. We don’t know all of his stories, but we know he deserves a better ending than sitting and waiting.

Orville isn’t asking for much. He wants a soft bed, breakfast in the morning, fresh water, and a family to call his own. His bones crackle a little when he gets up. His walks are slower these days. He would much rather spend the evening curled up beside you than conquering hiking trails. And honestly, he’s earned that right.

He is gentle, loving, grateful, and so deserving of comfort in his golden years. He’s perfect with dogs of all sizes and cats. And his little muzzle goes pink to black depending on the day!

Please help us share him far and wide. Senior dogs should not spend their final chapters waiting.

Located in Manteno, Illinois.

Snow Squarestem aka Salt n’ Peppa!!!

Hooray! This is the first time i’ve ever seen *Melanthera Nivea* in the wild! They fittingly host the “Florida White Butterfly”.

I just purchased one of these from a nursery for my home garden too. These massive wild specimens give my new plant some big shoes to fill! Stumbling upon this on my walk felt like meeting a celebrity! Lol.

Sometimes also called ‘white top’. Not to be confused with Dixie Aster, a native also nicknamed ‘white top’!

The foliage of this plant is so striking in person—I noticed those gorgeous leaves before anything else

Took myself on a wild goose chase searching for this ID. Also couldn’t find a singular named larval host for this plant, the general consensus is ~moths~.

Please let me know if you know anything else about this beauty!

Lactuca Graminifolia is the scientific name. Such unique leaves (the only way I could deduce I might not be looking at pixie-sized stokes aster blooms)!
