Can Anyone Suggest A Reading Order For The Slaughterverse?

I’m an old school cyberpunk fan (read Neuromancer in the 80s). I stumbled across w0rldt33 when looking for cyberpunk comics. I was impressed with Tynion so after getting current with w0rldtree, I worked my way through Department of Truth, then Nice House. I’m midway through the first Something is Killing the Children Omnibus and will be ordering the second. My question is when should I order and read the House of Slaughter collections? Is there an advantage to waiting on the Second Something is Killing the Children omnibus and reading the first House of Slaughter omnibus in between? Oh, and what about House of Slaughter 6-10. Sounds like the first House of Slaughter omnibus skips them in favor of presenting a complete story arc. Should I buy them separately (or is there a collected volume) and is there a suggestion as to when in all of this I should read them. Thanks In Advance!

What are some BF Doctor Who that is part of or prior to the Gallifrey Range?

I’ve listened to all of the BF Gallifrey, Gallifrey Time War, and Gallifrey War Room. What are some of the BF Doctor Who stories that are directly related. Like how did Romana get back from e-space and become president? Thanks!

The Invasion of Time Remains Incredibly Great Fun

So far, it’s been a great Fourth! I hope you’re all having a great one. Hot dogs and genuine imitation grape soda (with cane sugar), tater tot’s, beans, ice cream and Doctor Who!

Twenty-Fifth Anniversary Special “Remembrance of the Daleks, October 1988

One of my all time favorites. The Doctor and Ace (pictured with Group Captain Gilmore, Professor Rachel Jensen, and Dr. Allison Williams) travel back to 1963 London. This is contemporaneous with An Unearthly Child, as demonstrated by Ace leafing through the same French Revolution textbook in the Shoreditch School. They do battle with Daleks, reference Time Lord myths, and establish a very warm internal dialogue steeped in diversity. The arc has a purposely dark feeling to it, as it taps heavily into Cold War angst - going so far at one point as to reference the British Rocket Group. Rachel, Allison, and the Group Captain would make further appearances in the Big Finish Counter-Measures stories

Did You Guys Hear The Daleks Are Stalking The Streets Of Seattle?

The late Paul Allen was a cool cat. He owned the Seahawks, built the Jimi Hendricks Experience Music Project, built the Science Fiction Museum, and rebuilt the Cinerama. On the Doctor’s 50th, he threw a free party at the Experience Music Project and invited the entire state of Washington. He also created these guys - ventilation for underground parking

Are there any missing Renegade Timelords?

Can you guys think of any renegade timelords or timeladies who haven’t had an appearance recently. The Masterand the Rani have popped up, as has Onega (I feel like Rassilon falls in a separate category). I don’t think the General has been seen since he was originally locked up in War Games. The Pirate received a mention. Does anyone remember any others? I’m having a good time watching Time
And the Rani and it’s a good time. If there are any more in the canon out there that might make a decent story arc. Or, I suppose they could invent a new one, I mean all you could misplace a few, given all of time and space.

Anyone Know A Book Like American Elsewhere by Robert Jackson Bennett?

I read this book last year, but it was published in 2013. The author has won numerous awards. His recent works are fantasy and he’s won a Hugo and a British Fantasy award for one (and been a finalist something like a dozen times). But his earlier work was horror. He’s won the Shirley Jackson award twice for horror. American Elsewhere was one of these. It’s kind of a Desert Gothic/Mythos mix. Does anyone know any books like it?

Background on Darcia from Hello Darkness

I’m quite fond of horror anthologies - Creepy, Eerie, The Vault of Horror, Tales from the Crypt. Hello Darkness is a great new entry. And, like all the older books, Hello Darkness has a mascot: Daria

Some Background on Darcia from Hello Darkness

I’m having a good time reading Hello Darkness from Boom. I’ve been a fan of horror anthologies for a long time. I think Creepy was the first. E.C. was a legend but wasn’t available as reprints yet and the originals were pricey. But, I got the idea. These comics - Creepy, Eerie, Tales from the Crypt, The Vault of Horror - were all anthologies. And they all had mascots. Uncle Creepy, Cousin Eerie, The Cryptkeeper, The Vaultkeeper, The Old Witch narrated them. Hello Darkness has Darcia (pictured). There’s no background on her in the volumes, but there was a little bit in the Number Two original (pictured)

The Doctor Who Theme: Glass Ceiling Broken After 50 Years

On the 23rd of November 1963 the world heard its first fully electronic piece of music, the Doctor Who theme. Australian composer Ron Grainer partially composed the theme, but its full harmonics and production were realised by

Delia Derbyshire of the BBC Radiophonic Workshop. When Grainer heard the completed piece, he was amazed and asked “did I write that?” He then insisted that Derbyshire be credited as co-composer. The BBC refused and Derbyshire’s contribution went unrecognized. This state of affairs continued for fifty years. On the 23rd of November 2013 the BBC rectified this error. In the credits for the Doctor Who 50th Anniversary Episode “The Day of the Doctor,” Delia Derbyshire was finally recognized as the co-composer of the theme. It’s good to see that a glass cieling that prevented recognition of one of the composers of the very first fully electronic television theme was finally shattered

One of my favorites from the old days. The chemistry between the Fourth Doc and Leela is great. The character acting on Jago and Litefoot is a lot of fun. The Great Rat? Well, errr nothing is perfect 😉
