Sophia KNEW something was up with D4vd 💔

They all KNEW something was off with him…. Yoonchae would’ve been next if it wasn’t for Sophia 💔💔 (Link)

Uj/ Genuine condolences to Celeste and her family, hopefully this jerk is not taken as taking her death lightly. Sophia being insinuated to have “stopped D4dv” from doing anything is the craziest thing I’ve seen today though.

KpopNoir: anybody else experience this?

For any kpop interested guys like me, have any of you attempted and failed to join r/kpopnoir? I’ve been on that sub in the past when you used to have to send in a picture of your hand to get verified.

As far as I understand, it’s against reddits rules to do that anymore so their mods just go based on vibes, apparently. It sucks because I like having a safe space to discuss things but both me and a friend of mine have had difficulty getting into this sub when we’re both black. Then they, as all moderators do, refuse to give any context as if they’re above the program. If you’re going to randomly reject or accept people it should at least be honest. Tell folks who ask why they can’t join. It paints a bad picture for the sub.

For those who don’t know, kpopnoir is a space for black and brown people to discuss happenings in the kpop sphere away from white voice, as white people tend to discredit black and brown experiences and input when it comes to this. You have to have a flair to comment on anything or post, so it’s essentially a private sub locked behind random moderation approval.

I hate when people fail to acknowledge historic precedent

I’m a black woman. I acknowledge that racism against all races exists. That being said?

I HATE systemic racism. I hate that everytime I’m amongst races that aren’t like me, I’m inclined to wonder if a person looking at me funny is assuming something about me because of my skin color. I hate that I have to consider that there could be prejudice against me as Im walking down the street, minding my business.

With that as my experience for as long as I can remember, I hate when folks treat racism against white folks as if it is this unacknowledged devil in the dark that is just as harmful as other forms. Racism as it manifests against white people, and the systemic racism that poc experience, especially black people, is something we should all be against. Im against racism towards white people too, but I am not against black people being disgruntled that they have to look over their shoulder constantly. If someone who looks like me says they hesitate to interact with white people I think it’s a bit strange, but understandable. There’s a boatload of precedent as to why they might do so, at least initially.

If a white person says they hesitate to interact with black people, all they have to reference are the time old stereotypes that black people are more violent and might do x, y, or z to them. Many of these precedents are stereotypes that weren’t created from a reality of a tendency towards violence, just narratives or contexts that forced us to do so. I’m sure this paragraph is going to get quoted against me fairly often, Im prepared for that.

I find that discussions about white racism usually devolve into “minorities hate us for no reason. We’re victims just as much as they are. Look at this subreddit that claims it’s a safe space for black people, that’s how you really know white racism exists” and it ignores why the space even exists in the first place.

No, creating poc spaces is not racist. Is racism against white people bad? Yes. Does that then mean that the historically oppressed group deserves no place to speak among themselves? If you said yes, please ask yourself why? Feel free to tell me in the comments.

I hate when people can’t acknowledge that many minorities have had horrible things happen to them at the hands of others. I hate when people pretend that there’s no precedent for certain prejudice or discrimination. I don’t think that hatred of any kind is okay, but history can’t be erased and pretending it should be because you don’t like being disliked as a response, is bigotry.

Instead, we should all be working to advocate for one another. Advocate for the healing of a wounded group and they will do the same for you.

“If you stick a knife in my back nine inches and pull it out six inches, there's no progress. If you pull it all the way out, that's not progress. Progress is healing the wound that the blow made.”

- Malcom X

Before anyone starts, I don’t hate white people. Im sure this is going to be a sticky post but Jesus did the ones about hating white racism leave a horrible taste in my mouth
