Help!

Long story short- started Trintellix 10 mg 4 weeks ago. Was on 20 mg of Cymbalta and got down to 5 mg when the withdrawal side effects got bad. So I’m staying on 5 mg of Cymbalta for a while. My depression has lifted but now my anxiety is through the roof. I had to take a lorazepam today it was so bad (only 1/4 of .5 was enough to stop the cycle.) Am I doomed or will things get better?

End of cross taper?

I have been on Trintellix (10 mg) for 3 weeks and the idea was to cross taper off of Cymbalta. Started at 20 mg for a week every other night, then stopped. After a week had horrible withdrawal so doctor suggested I go back on 10 mg (bead counting) every other day. By the end of the 2nd day I am getting a headache and irritability. My PDoc agrees it’s fair to try 5 mg every night rather than 10 every other. Will I likely be ok with that? And how can I taper off safely? Remember that I am changing to Trintellix so I’m not eliminating antidepressants entirely (don’t think I ever will) just couldn’t stand the Cymbalta side effects. Thanks!

When will I know?

Started 10 mg Trintellix 2 1/2 - 3 weeks ago. 1 week was a cross taper from Cymbalta. Been off any Cymbalta for almost 2 weeks. So far side effects have been nausea (have lost 7 pounds because I can’t eat- which often happens when I’m anxious) but I had gained so much from Cymbalta I am ok with it. Sleep is improving though I do have really intense nightmares/dreams. When will I know if this med is right for me? I have had difficult transitions onto meds in the past but I can’t ever remember how long it takes to feel actually good.

Day 1- unhappy

I’m 54, myopic (-6.25 and -5.5). As it was explained to me, I would be able to be adjusted to see for far and middle vision, with near vision needing readers. Fine. Got right eye done with LAL yesterday- no issues at all. Went for 24 hour follow up today and while I can see a street sign 8 blocks away, I couldn’t see the dashboard (let alone my phone) at all. Different doctor will be doing the LAL adjustments- she explained “I never guarantee any type of vision.” I got kind of upset and she explained we will fine tune in a few weeks and that they will be able to add a bit of + although I will sacrifice a bit of distance. Fine. It just wasn’t how the surgeon explained it to me, and I feel a little bit blown off. I know it’s early days but I can barely see because of the huge difference of right and left, have no depth perception, and I keep missing the bottom step. What should I do?

Cymbalta to trintellix

Long post- sorry. 54 yo F. I’ve been on Cymbalta for about four years, sometimes on 30 mg and sometimes for 20. I am currently on 20 mg. am feeling awful about the weight gain, even though I am doing everything right. My psychiatrist today suggested that I switch to Trintellix, especially since my anxiety seems to be managed well with HRT, but low mood and weepiness is more of an issue for me right now. She has suggested I take Cymbalta every other night for one week, while taking the 10 mg of Trintellix (starting with 1/2 pill the first night) and then after the week passes just take the Trintellix. She seemed pretty confident I will have minimal withdrawal. Anyone experienced in this type of cross taper? What can I expect? Supportive replies welcome- I know Cymbalta is a very unpopular drug. TIA!

Tested positive again

My rheumatologist had me do the quantiferon gold test when I first saw him. Came back positive. Did a repeat a month later- still positive. The xray is negative for active disease. Saw infectious disease med and she suggested this might be a false positive so I should wait 6 months and test again. Well, last week’s came back positive again. Her office just called to set up a telemedicine appointment. My understanding is that I am low risk unless my rheumatologist puts me on an immune suppressant (doubtful at this point) but it might be a good idea to do the course of treatment just in case. Anyone else in this situation? I have no idea where I got it- I’m from Boston, lived in NYC, now live in Philly. Have traveled to Europe and around the US but not to any high risk areas as far as I know. Kinda freaking out but trying not to. Have been hospitalized for c sections, thyroid cancer surgery, hysterectomy, back surgery, but never for more than a day or two. Don’t work in health care. Is this weird or am I overthinking it as it doesn’t really matter?

Thanks!
