Saw the band last night. Can’t stop thinking about it. I was as high as a kite. It was like repeatedly waking up from a good dream only to realize I was still in the good dream. Undone is my new favorite.
Honestly, I like it. It certainly has its place and I feel like Prophecy…. used it judiciously enough that is adds to rather than detracts from the song. That said, I like Black Moth Super Rainbow and vocode is all that guy does.
My wife and I finally got a chance to sit down , pour a glass, smoke a bit, and listen to Prophecy at 1420 MHz for the first time. One of my favorites at first listen. I love how it’s still very much their sound, but a song that sounds absolutely different from any of their other songs.
I live nowhere near an official listening party so my wife and I decided the day Inferno is available we are going to put the kids to bed, get in the sauna, smoke a bit of Mother Nature, and listen to the album together for the first time.
I remember Jeffrey R. Holland saying there might be one day in his life that he didn’t directly benefit from his mission, but he wouldn’t be able to say which day that was. Sort of true for me. I wouldn’t be the same person I am today without serving a mission. I benefited greatly from it and happy I went.
Counterpoint: There might be one day in the last 20 years that I didn’t directly benefit from leaving the church, but I couldn’t say which day that was.
I always tell people when they find out I was raised Mormon: It’s a great Church to be raised in. It’s a better Church to leave when you’re an adult.
I fully realize I say this as a white man, which is sort of what the Mormon church caters to.
Also, I live in Michigan where being formerly Mormon is a nostalgic quirky thing I get to share with friends and neighbors and not something that’s shoved in my face every day and controls the local and state politics.
