AITA for already wishing I hadn't invited this player
I'm in a dungeons and dragons campaign with a few people I just recently met, one of these new friends just so happens to be in a romantic relationship and we got to talking about our respective partners. He sounded like a swell guy, lots of experience under his belt, has dmed for people before, played even more than I have, so I ask her if he would be interested, to which he says yes. He joins after I ask our dungeon master and he agrees to have him join, wonderful news!
We talk and he says he plans to play a pirate, morally grey, looks out for herself, that kind of thing. I don't know much about her since I'm only a player, but she doesn't seem too terrible so I don't raise any questions. The first thing she does upon coming into port at Sharn is pillage several establishments, even dismembering and kidnapping a woman running a shop because the dungeon master, not the character, accidentally said sir instead of ma'am. He phrases it as if he's doing the right thing by taking her after cutting her arm off, saying "(Character name) wouldn't just leave her to die, she's going to be a part of the crew." We also have not made a single roll yet, not to determine how much she can rob, or if the guards notice her, or if any of the many experienced sailors stand up to stop her and her crew from robbing their alehouses of choice.
On top of this, any rolls he does make are pristine, in one session, he landed 4 crits and did not roll below 12 a single time, and once "misread" the dc for another player to escape his grapple, saying it was an 18 instead of a 14. Keep in mind he is more experienced than both me and our dungeon master. By the end of the session he has robbed our favorite barkeep twice, attacked my player character who was only trying to stop her from stealing (knocking me out with a crit) and attempted to take my unconscious character back to her ship, made practically every player character hate her, with the exclusion of his girlfriend's who only likes her because she is "interesting", and somehow robbed and attacked several people with absolutely no consequences.
Am I the asshole for already regretting extending my invitation?
TL:DR; New player steals, assaults, and kidnaps on several occasions, including a player character, makes suspicious dice rolls, and manages to draw the ire of basically the entire party in one session. Not mentioned in the main text but he also makes almost the entire session about his character.
