Broken or just misassembled?

This is our baby girl Ingrid. She appears to have a few glitches in her operating system.

We’ve tried unplugging her and plugging her back in. No luck.

Suggestions welcome.

Do your cats sound like…cats?

Cat pic for Tax.

Haven’t had a cat since I was at home with my parents but all my cat interactions my cats have sounded…like cats. Your stereotypical “meow” the occasional “yowl” and of course the standard “purr”

My kittens are coming up on 6 months and I have yet to hear a single “meow” or anything even close. Most days they sound like a mix between some sort of ground squirrel and a bird? What I imagine a small carnivorous dinosaur would sound like? More chirps and whistles that I ever imagined my house would be filled with.

Our smaller girl will sometimes realize her sister isn’t in the same room with her and will call out to her and I swear it sounds like a bird song! I’ve tried to catch one of these sounds on camera and haven’t been successful. They “chortle?” I can’t really even begin to explain. It’s like they’re speaking an alien dialect with clicks and sing songy little peeps??

They also click to each other when they’re “hunting” like a fly or a toy. They open their mouth up like they are baring their teeth and click like a person would do with their tongue.

When they do appear to attempt to meow it comes out more as a whispy squeak?

Are my cats aliens?

Chaos goblins

One moment we’re running speed laps through the house hardcore parkour style. The next we’re napping in the window like a perfect angel. Today so far we have

1.) Climbed into the fireplace and knocked over all the fake logs. This is a new one, gonna have to cat proof that asap.

2.) “Dug” in the Dog water bowl till it was essentially empty.

3.) Jumped onto my keyboard while I’m working 236 times

4.) Caught two flies one using me as a launching pad. Not mad at this really, yay to the house fly bouncer squad

5.) WWE match in the tub knocking over a (cat safe) house plant on a plant stand next to it and then panicking and dipping with haste to shoot through the house again like some adrenaline fueled wizard firework.

It’s only 1pm! I would die for them. What’s wrong with me??? 😭

Beautiful, and thirsty!

It was 108 degrees outside today. I was watering patio plants this evening and this lady has been sharing our space this summer, she dropped right down and started taking advantage of the open bar.

Was really neat to see her moving around as most of the time she’s just perfectly still on her little web.

Long hair?

Our babies are about 4.5 months old and I was doing a nail trimming and these toe fluffs are getting me thinking we may be looking at some fluffs…with two of them I’m wondering if I need to think about investing in a better vacuum 🤣

I was thinking maybe short or medium hair at first but these toe fluffs are really coming in

Convalescing kitties in ducky outfits to brighten your day 🤗

Eevee and Ingrid are recovering from their spay in the latest fashion. I didn’t think kittens could be cuter then I put them in a ducky onesie ☠️😂

Moody Kitten - Update!

They had their vet visit at a new vet yesterday. They looked great and no parasites. They’re liking the new “fussy” food and have been eating wet food twice a day again while free feeding dry food and water all day. Energy levels are back up and naughty kitten shenanigans have resumed. I have learned my lesson on buying 48 cans of any cat food at once 😂

Thank you everyone for all your suggestions and support ❤️

Moody kittens?

I have two 15 week old kittens who seemingly overnight hate all food They are still playing like normal in little bursts (chasing toys, chasing each other around) but outside of that they seem really sleepy and almost moody? They act interested in food but then just sniff at it. One kitten will eat little dry kitten treats, the other won’t.

They both ate about 1/4 of a can of wet kitten food each this morning. They have access to dry food all day but haven’t eaten any and I just tried to feed them dinner and they just sniff it.

This has been going on for about 24 hours. We called our vet and she said that if they’re acting fine then we can wait and bring them in for our regular booster appointment Wednesday but I’m starting to worry about their lack of fluids.

Could they be teething? Their gums look a little pale to me. If they’re don’t eat breakfast I’ll be taking them in a day early, but I’m just trying not to panic at the moment.

Litter Robot 4 Question

Our first litter robot, the 4, arrived today. I purchased the hopper bundle but only the robot came with the mat and filter add on. It shows a separate shipment is coming but it just shows all the same items again. Was the hopper supposed to be with the robot? Do they usually come separately?

Of course I already set up our robot before I realized that it will need to be empty to attach the hopper 😑

On the plus side, our babies have already been using the robot and seem to like it!

Happy 12 Weeks! (We think)

Our little torbie babies are around 12 weeks old!

Ingrid is soft and quiet and calm. She loves a warm shoulder to sleep on, a cozy blanket fort, and being carried around 24/7. She is smol and she takes full advantage (First pic)

Evangeline (Eevee as she is now called) is a master of chaos. She is a professional dog pest, a championship wrestler, and world record zoomies holder. She has the loudest purr and the softest paws. (2nd pic)

It’s been many years since we had kittens in the house and they have been such a joy ❤️

Should I change vets?

TLDR; UPDATE BELOW

About a month ago we adopted two adorable charming 8 week old sisters. They are perfect in every way! We chose a vet close to our house with good reviews online and at our first visit I got somewhat hoodwinked into signing up for a pet insurance type payout plan for their first year so even though I wasn’t super thrilled with the vibe the first visit I felt stuck.

I told them no multiple times and then the vet said that my first appointment would be almost the cost of the entire year plan ($1308) and I should reconsider. I did it and then my invoice showed my first visit was just under $200. I decided to just let it go as it covers all vaccines, and routine needs for the first year.

Well I took them back today and they didn’t even let me come back to the room, they brought them back out a few mins later said they had their boosters and see you in three weeks.

I asked if they had been weighed if they looked healthy? She read me off their weights and they were almost identical to their weights from 2 weeks ago. (One was plus 0.2 one was -0.2) I asked if that was normal and they blew me off. Their weights are currently 1.94 and 2.54 lbs. Age approximately 11 weeks.

They had a dose of dewormer at 6 weeks and again at 8 weeks but have showed no signs of having worms. They told me they didn’t need dewormer again.

Am I overreacting? Shouldn’t a 10 week old kitten still be gaining weight? They have access to dry food all day but really don’t eat it too often. They have their own can of kitten food each in the morning, split one at lunch, and another full can each at dinner.

We just moved to this city so I lost my old faithful vet so maybe I’m just comparing the two and coming up short?

I will be out the stupid scammy “SNOUT” subscription as it is but I just feel like I’m just $ to them and they don’t really care.

Derpy kitten nap picture for Tax.

UPDATE:

As suggested by several posters here we got a kitchen scale and weighed them ourselves. I’m happy to report that the kitten who previous weighed 1.98lbs now weighs 2.5lbs and the one who weighed 2.5 lbs now weighs 3.7lbs. So they definitely didn’t bother weighing them and just wrote something down. Hopefully they actually vaccinated them as I wasn’t allowed to view any of these proceedings. Will absolutely be finding a new vet.

Picking these ladies up in the morning!

Looking forward to bringing these precious girls home tomorrow. I’m a little nervous as it’s been a while since we had a cat but we finally bought a house a few months ago and can finally have kitties! My teenagers have named them Ingrid and Evangeline (Evie)

They were abandoned at 3 weeks and bottle fed, they were the two most bonded kittens of the litter so we’ve decided to keep them together.

They have the prettiest little markings!
